Resetting Airport Extreme disabled my home network. Now when i attempt to get to internet with iPad, or iPhone, I see an Earthlink (ISP) window with message: The internet connection is currently in use by another computer (nun.nn.n.nn) Enter your DSL Account logon psassword to switch the internet connection to this computer. If I do that, other messages follow. I am usually able to switch connection, but can have only one device on internet at a time. Tried to correct problem using Airport Utility, but failed.

Unfortunately, there is mass confusion about whether a device might be a modem or a modem/router since the terms are mixed up all the time. Even though a device might have only one Ethernet port, it can still be a router.
    If this is your "modem".......
    http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/netopia-cayman-3341-router/4507-3319_7-30484785. html
It is not a modem.....it is a modem/router. If that is the case, then the AirPort Extreme is not the only router on your network....it is one of two routers, and it should be configured to operate in Bridge Mode.
Does this device appear to be your "modem"?

  • Windows APP without real internet connection stops working in time

Windows APP without real internet connection stops working in time
    Hello all,
I am trying to get the following to work. We have an intranet page which users need to connect to, to operate some machines. This is done through an windows 8.1 Tablet with an assigned KIOSK mode app (Kios SP Browser).
This works great as the assigned app is the only thing the user can run and we don't have to really harden the device. One drawback in using the assigned apps is that it needs to be an New App (as Microsoft call it)
The app is installed on an reference machine which runs in workgroup mode (no domain connection is needed on the devices) and after the reference machine is installed it is imaged with the use of Acronis. After deployment the tablet has no connection to
internet and the intranet page is wireless put available to the tablets. As a side note, the tablet operates with local accounts and the app is installed using an corporate hotmail account we created just for this purpose.
I now deployed the image over 20 different tablet devices and this worked great until recently a few devices start to complain it needs to connect to the windows shop before the app can be started. As the devices don't have internet access this can't be
done and the tablet is rendered useless for the user.
How can i make the app available without internet connection ? and how can i be sure the app will continue to work over time without connection to the store ?

    Thanks for the reply.
I can't unblock the internet connection as the wireless network doesn't have any internet connection what so ever. The main purpose is to be able to operate the machinery and nothing else, hence the kios app which is being used to show the intranet page
which connects than to the devices.
The problem is that after imaging the app works as expected but after a few days the app stops to work ...
I found the following website over site loading an app without the needed appx files. It shows an way to capture the files during installation from the windows store.
    https://www.404techsupport.com/2014/06/installing-free-windows-8-modern-apps-without-the-windows-store/
It is a bit strange to have it this difficult to install apps without the needed store and i think that Microsoft should make this easier. I hope this works better and after a few days i will give the feedback how this handles..
If anyone knows of a better way .....

  • Windows 7 and iPhone internet tethering

    Hi guys,
I was using the exact same hardware (notebook) and same USB cable and iPhone in the past that the Internet Tethering was working perfectly when in WinXP Pro.
However, recently I re-format my PC to Windows 7. But the problem is now the Internet Tethering somehow is not working.
    Symptoms:
My iPhone is connected to the PC, can sync Outlook mail, contacts, calendars etc. When I turned on the Internet Tethering, the mobile shows that it is connected with BLUE bar at the top of the screen. But in my notebook, it doesn't show that it is connected to any devices, nor any NIC there. Finally I confirmed that no IP address obtained.
Is there anything I mis-configured? or this is no way to do this?
    Thanks a lot
    Tim

The question is answered by my own.
Turn on the Internet Tethering on iPhone. Plug it into the Win7 machine. Let it finished synchronizing. Turn on the Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. Check for the device - Apple Mobile Device Ethernet by right click and Diagnose it.
After the diagnosis, there was problem found, and I let the Win7 fixed by itself. Then, Win7 can get the IP from the iPhone and do browsing through the PC.

  • Boot Camp Windows 8.1 WiFi Internet Connectivity

I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) running Yosemite, and I have installed Windows 8.1 via Boot Camp.
Most everything on my Windows OS works well, but I'm hitting an odd problem with the Internet connectivity. Sometimes, I can only get to certain sites in Internet Explorer, and NOT through Firefox or Chrome. And now, after initially installing a few days ago, I can no longer connect to the Internet via my Evernote, Dropbox, or Git apps.
Has anyone else out there experienced something similar? It could be that this is just a Windows issue and I need to post a similar query elsewhere, but I thought I would start here. I don't see any errors anywhere in my Device Manager, and I even manually added Evernote to list of apps that is supposed to be able to access the Internet via a private connection, but still no joy.

    1. Your MBA does not support EFI/Free Space method.
    2. You need to ensure that your USB is a USB2 device.
    3. The MBR should be checked, because there are known cases where BCA fails to create the MBR.

  • Windows 7 64bit, no internet connection

I recently purchased a macbook pro 13 and installed all of the proper bootcamp drivers (to my knowledge) into a windows 7 64bit partition, but I am having difficulty getting connected to the internet. I activated network discovery and wylan wireless service.I updated the firewall to include home and private networks, plus changed "home group" to "workflow", but I know I am missing something. Can you help?

I built up my system but it will not recognize any network connection.
    Quote
I did this because the driver cd that came with the mono would not properly work.
    Quote
I still cannot connect to the internet, I get a 651 error.
Could you be a little more elaborate, as your problem description is a little vague?
Are you talking about a 'wired' internet connection, to your onboard LAN port?
In what way exactly did the driver CD 'not work'?
And where do you see this '651 error'?

  • Can Ipad share a 3G enabled Iphone Internet Connection?

Yes it can, assuming your data plan allows tethering to your iPhone.
With the iPhone 3GS, you can only tether via Bluetooth with an iPad running iOS 4.3. Browsing speed is ok for email and websites. Finally, I have 3G for my WIFI iPad!
With iPhone 4, you can tether I guess either via Bluetooth or WIFI. You probably want WIFI cause it supports up to 3 WIFI devices.
No can do with iPhone 3G unfortunately.

  • AirPort Express for iPhone Internet connection

I recently had cable installed in our shop for phone and Internet usage. We haven’t yet purchased a computer for the location, but I do have an AirPort Express that I purchased for use in my home (but have not set up at home yet). I also have an iPhone. Is there a way to use the AirPort Express with the cable Internet connection in our shop so that I can go online with my iPhone? (just FYI, I cannot connect with the internet at our shop with my iPhone over the AT&T network as there is no signal available in the area).
    Thanks!

Well, I don’t seem to be getting too far with this set up at home. I’ve tried plugging my cable modem at home into the AX, then opened Airport Utility on my iMac, but all it says is “Airport Utility was unable to find any Apple wireless devices”. I’ve tried unplugging and re-plugging in the AX to the electric power. Also tried the reset button on the AX.
I then tried turning on WiFi on my iPhone and the AX shows up as “Apple Network” followed by the AirPort ID number. I then plugged the ethernet plug from my cable modem back into the AX and I can connect with my iPhone via WiFi to my cable modem and go online. No set up at all, which is what I wanted to do in the first place, except when I tried this with the new modem in the shop, the iPhone “sees” and selects the AX, but there is no connection to the internet.
So now I’m stuck with two dilemmas. I can’t get my iMac at home to “see” the AX, and I can’t get the AX to connect to the Internet with the modem at the shop. ???
Oh, and the modem in the shop is a "Scientific Atlanta 2203" and is for both cable telephone connection and RR cable Internet connection.

  • IPhone internet connectivity

Will the current generation of iPhone, or any upcoming generation, use the 3G network for internet connectivity? I want to purchase an iPhone, but have heard terrible comments in regards to the speed of the EDGE network. Can anyone respond to this?

Thus far the compatibility is EDGE. I use it and it seems to work fine for me. Half the time Im around Wi-Fi anyway and it is quick on the iPhone. But no one knows if iPhone will ever be compatible with 3G. So either buy it now and enjoy or wait around and see if it will be.

  • Windows 8 Constantly Loses Internet Connectivity

Hi, I have a new Dell Inspiron 17-3721 with Windows 8. It is connected to a Linksys WRT160NL Wifi router.
The laptop occasionally loses its internet connection (approx. once per hour, even as I type this), and can't even connect to the router (neither ping nor its web page). When I look at the network settings, everything seems to be OK (IP address, DNS and
gateway settings), except that it reports no internet connectivity.
Other computers in the network running Win XP, Vista or Android don't have any problems at all, so I am dead sure it's not a problem with the router or my ISP.
Sometimes the problem goes away after a few minutes, but usually it persists for a long time.
What is odd: When Internet Explorer times out it shows me a troubleshoot button. When I click it, usually connectivity is restored after a few seconds, while troubleshooter is trying to find a problem. I believe it pulls something straight while analyzing
the network. I only wish I knew what.
I uninstalled McAfee security center because someone suggested it might be the root of the problem, but it didn't help.
Windows is up to date, also the BIOS has the latest version (from 3 days ago).
    Any other hints?

A small update: I disabled IPv6 because somewhere it was suggested that this might be the problem, but it didn't help.
I compared the output of ipconfig/all between working and non-working network, but there is no difference. Everything looks the same.
Tracert to the DNS server doesn't help. Since not even the wifi router (which is also the DHCP server and the default gateway) is available (ping 192.168.1.1 times out), tracert stops there. I'm using my ISP's DNS servers which are assigned
    via DHCP.
Maybe it's not necessary to mention that again, but: All other hosts connected to the wifi router can always ping it, and they can always query the DNS servers and they can always open web pages and they can always send emails and whatnot. It is unbelievable
that the latest version of windows has a problem with such a basic issue.
I installed Ubuntu on the same laptop today. So far it didn't have a problem with the network. I do admit that the installation of wifi was a little less out of the box.
I haven't found the time to use netmon yet. I wonder what it would tell me. I have never used netmon before. Is it comparable to wireshark?

  • After installing cs3 on windows 7 i lose internet connectivity

I install cs3 and everything goes fine... I can open programs and they work, but it shuts down my Internet connection! i can still see my local network but no Internet. when i uninstall cs3 my connection returns straight away.... adobes answer to this was give us £550 to upgrade!! what a joke!!! I'am running win 7 pro 32bit

before i installed i run ipconfig....
    192.168.1.151
    255.255.255.0
    192.168.1.12
it all works fine, the cs3 installed and all programs work! however when i restart my machine i lose the internet.
i run ipconfig again and got the following...
    192.168.1.151
    255.255.255.0
    0.0.0.0
    192.168.1.12
its seems cs3 affects dynamic ip's, so i set a static IP, restarted my machine and now everything works fine!!!!!
thanks yet again adobe for not helping!!!

  • Windows Partition has no Internet Connection

I have recently bootcamped windows 7 x64. I thought everything had installed just fine, but I can't connect to the internet. Obviously, thats a problem. I used troubleshooting, and apparently I'm missing the proper drivers. I've been trolling other forums with similar questions, and soms people seem to see that installing the OS X DVD to the windows partition fixes this. My problem, I'm not sure I have the DVD. I very well might, but if I can get around this, or somehow replace it, that would be wonderful. Also, I'm runninng Mountain Lion, if that makes any difference.
Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated! I'm missing out on Fall of Cybertron people. Clearly, this is a serious problem.

Using the DVD was the solution when Apple was shipping DVDs, now it is a little different. Return to the Mac OS and run BootCamp again. The first step of BootCamp (if I remember properly) is to download the BootCamp drivers and again, if memory serves, you have the option to save them to a DVD or flash drive.  I did this over a year ago and not since so my memory is a little vague.

  • Recently in Windows 7 (BootCamp), the internet connection got slower.

I've been using Boot Camp for months then all of a sudden my internet (only in boot camp) got way slower than it should be.
Using Speedtest.net, I get 120ping~, 7Mbps download speed and 1.3~ upload speed. While in contrast on the Mac OS, 14 ping, 23.79 Mbps and 4.22 Mbps upload speed.

It is still a modem/router or configuration issue.
I don't see how just posting numbers though tells the story or why. Not enough to go by.
I use my cable ISP online forum and have them help, they can usually 'see' the modem, and what is happening.
Take the router out of the picture if possible and connect directly to modem and not using wifi.
For reference I get 30Mb down but 2Mb up and 40ms. Wifi is about half that with higher ping.
