An Apple TV update was processed (Steps 1 and 2).   The Apple TV device then did not indicate it was on.  I press the remote button to turn it on and nothing happens.  What is wrong? What do I have to do?  I even replace the battery on the remote to insure it was working.

Welcome to the Apple Community Glenn283.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

  • Apple TV update stuck on step 1 for over 2 hours. Am on wifi. What do I do?

Apple TV update is stuck on step 1 for 2 +hours. I am on wifi.

If the update is stuck on step 1, I know it sounds counter intuitive, but unplug the apple tv from power and restart the update. It was a known issue with the update when it was released.

  • HT202157 Apple TV update problems - hanging.

Trying to update apple TV but it's been over 2 hours and it seems to be stuck.  Staus bar is 75% updated.  Message reads " Step 1 of 2: Preparing update...Do not unplug your apple TV while updating."

    Hello Cap5,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Restoring your Apple TV
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367
    Open iTunes on your computer
Connect your Apple TV to a computer:
Apple TV (2nd generation): Connect one end of the micro-USB cable to the back of your Apple TV, and the other end to one of your computer's USB ports.
Apple TV (3rd generation): Connect one end of the micro-USB cable to the back of your Apple TV, and the other end to one of your computer's USB ports. Connect the power cable from your Apple TV to a power outlet.
Click Restore Apple TV from the Apple TV summary page. This step may take some time, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
Note: If you don't see the above screen in iTunes, it may be necessary to choose Apple TV from the upper right of the iTunes window.
During the restore, do not unplug any cables.
After the restore process completes and the Apple TV icon disappears from iTunes, disconnect the micro-USB and power cables (if applicable), then reconnect to your TV with HDMI and power cables.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • HT202157 Apple TV update

My apple tv has a box saying "new software to update the tv has been found. it is strongly recommended to update now"
I press the centre button on the remote to do update and nothing happens. I could still use the menu behind the info box but it want go away fore to do anything

I'm not entirely sure I understand your symptoms, but it sounds like you're having trouble updating your Apple TV software.
If your Apple TV is having trouble updating and it's running 5.1 software and you are connected to your LAN with an ethernet cable, an easy way to get the update working is to disconnect the ethernet cable and let the Apple tv connect to your wifi network.  There is a bug which affects certain routers when using ethernet cable connection.   After 5.1.1 is installed, you can reconnect the ethernet cable.

  • HT202157 Apple TV & Computer stopped talking all of a sudden? Help

My Apple TV 2 cannot connect to my computer all of a sudden. They both have the latest software updated, I can access all except it won't link to the library on my computer. I have done the signal strength test all fine. Any ideas?

T141, try a reboot of the Router and the apple TV with all cables out for 30 seconds.

  • Apple TV 5.2 update stops in the middle of Step 1 of 2

It look like Apple TV 5.2 updat stops in the middle of Step 1 of 2: Preparing update...  It's been sitting there for over an hour. Why and what can I do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't do much else besides pull the plug. If it causes further problems you should be able to restore as below:
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
        1.    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
        2.    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
        3.    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
        4.    Open iTunes.
        5.    Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
On the other hand you may be able to simply start the update again. If however the update continues to fail, you should try the restore routine above.

  • Currently updating Apple TV, but stuck in Step 1 of 2.

I was updating Apple TV, but it has stop on step 1 of 2.  However, it says not to unplug Apple TV while updating.  Can I restart it somehow?

If it's been going for hours on end and seems stuck it's possible the update has failed.
    Options:
    - wait longer/overnight
    - unpower from mains > it may not power up properly or just simply be still on teh older version and allow you to update
    - if it won;t restart properly connect to a computer running itunes with a usb to microusb lead and restore via itunes  (AppleTV 2 does not need to be powered up for this)

  • I just did a software update that was apparently for iPhoto. When I try to open iPhoto it stops at "step 5" and will not go further. what do I do?

I just did a software update that was apparently for iPhoto. When I try to open iPhoto it stops at "step 5" and will not go further. what do I do?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First you should try logging out of your iTunes Store account (settings > iTunes Store > accounts) and then back in again.
If that doesn't help, try resetting the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings). You should also try restarting your router.
If both of the above don't help, you should try a restore (Settings > General > Reset > Restore).
