HT202157 I lost access to MBL.TV, You Tube, WSJ live..5.1 update ATV3

After 5.1 update ..disaster. Appears all 3rd party services not avail. Also inconsistent connection to the Itunes store. Lesson learned .. never upgrade during a pennant race. Otherwise I have an IP address, I can navigate, I can use the remote feature. It appears the unit cannot access or communicate with MLB.TV/Apple servers. It tries to load .. will not load the menus and settings. Have tried numerous restores ultimately the restore is unsuccessful. Although it states 5.1 is active.

It appears that this issue is related to specific network/Internet configurations. If you are experiencing this issue (some features work over WiFi but not Ethernet) after updating to Apple TV version 5.1, please send me <[email protected]> an email with this information:
1. What is the manufacturer, model number and firmware version (if possible) of your Ethernet router?
2. What is the manufacturer, model number and firmware version (if possible) of your WiFi router? (if it is different)
3. What is your Internet service provider?
4. Where are you located geographically? (what city?)
5. What Internet features do work over Ethernet?
6. What Internet features do not work over Ethernet?
7. Does it read "Activation Failed" at the bottom right in Settings > General > About?
Please make the subject line of your email be "Some features work over WiFi but not Ethernet".

Synching new photos from iPhone to the new Photos app on the iMac is incredibly slow. Placeholders for the photos do appear but the content stays white (initially) then black. As an example, I started the Photos app some 15 minutes ago and am still waiting for the synch of merely 11 photos to complete.
Since I agreed to pay 4.99 euro per month to extend online storage to 200 GB, I would expect flawless behavior. I am disappointed.

I think such is not possible yet. For now, you can use a recorder such as Supertintin for windows, and eCamm for mac to record your video calls. Both can record in Youtube upload ready formats. Supertintin and eCamm are both available in the Skype Apps Directory - http://shop.skype.com/apps/Call-recording-audio-video

Lost access to many, but not all web sites after last update: what to do?

On a Macbook pro, connecting via Orange broadband in the UK. suddenly only a few web sites could be accessed, even though email and skype worked fine.
I thought it was a MTU problem, so first tested with the info at this page:

following those instructions, setting the MTU to 1458 which would appear to be the UK recommended value, and also setting the wireless router to that value made it work!
Great, I thought. But then, wanting a permanent fix, I followed these instructions:

and checked the MTU after reboot! yes, it was still 1458.
But the problem had come back. I can only access google and some few other sites, not www.hp.com for example.
So I am at a loss.
I saw that at least one other person has complained about this problem on these forums...
Any ideas would be very welcome!

Not quite sure what you mean here;
a) The DNS Lookup failed
b) The URL returns a blank page
Trace to www.hp.com using /Utilities/Network Utility/Trace tab
Does the URL resolve to an IP number OK, does the trace complete or fail ?

I installed it. Watched the little Blue bar do it's thing and then agrred to Adobe's Terms & Conditions and clicked install.
Then got the coloured whirlly thing spinning on my desktop while it worked away.
Unfortunately, I cannot access most video on You Tube. Although, strangely enough I was able to view some videos but most are locked!

Hi, after updating on 5.1 the YOU TUBE APP (that was originally installed on the iphone4) is gone. And I can´t find it anymore... I know, that sounds really stupid, but it´s gone. And i´ts not in the APP Store. Can anybody help? Thanks a lot.

Hi, that is strange, the restriction for You Tube was set after the update, but not before, and I had the restriction protected with code... But not I see the APP again. Thank you !!!

Try turing your phone off and turing it back on, hold down the sleep button down until you get the power off slider.
or
you can try doing a reset hold down the sleep button and and home button till phone shuts off. then just turn your phone back on.
or
you can try searching it.

I have no sound with you tube videos. I've updated adobe flash and still no sound. I do, however, have sound with IE.

Whoa, I found the answer by clicking on one of the questions in the "More Like This" box to the right. I do wonder how to find that box before posting my dumb question. The answer turned out to be checking the youtube volume control. I turned that up and it solved the problem for Comast as well.

My phone set up fine, but when I set my ipad up, it comes up with old email address. In the email settings the icloud is correct. But it will not let me change it in the part I need to. It is greyed out. This is actually for the iphone 5.

If you're running iOS 6, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

I've lost access to my e-mail and my apple ID. No way to reset them. It's a hotmail email address and Microsoft is refusing to reset it even after I provided all the necessary proof of ownership.
2 problems:
I can't switch to a new apple id and loose all my purchased apps
I can't switch to a new apple id as I'm being asked for the password of my current apple id - to disable the 'find my iPhone'-feature
How do I proceed as my device is virtually unusable as is ..

We also can't speculate on what exactly iOS 7's new security features will actually do, all that's available is what has been said so far by Apple, anyone using a developer version is forbidden to discuss it anywhere but in the developers community.

If you don't have access to the computers to manually deauthorize them (they were sold, stolen, etc), then you have to log into your account, deauthorize all computers, and then re-authorize the machine(s) that you want to have access. This page explains how.

You could have more 5 computers authorized if you ever, for example, reformatted a hard drive or replaced a hard drive without deauthorizing the computer first. Apple's system would see that as a different computer, even though you don't. There's nothing to be afraid of in deauthorizing everything and the reauthorizing what you actually have. You won't lose any data. Mistimp is correct, they can't tell you which computers are authorized.
