HT202157 Movie purchases in iCloud

Movie purchases in iCloud - I can now purchase and play movies on apple TV2.  However, these purchased movies do not show in iTunes once purchased.  Shouldn't these movies download to iTunes as well?

Go to "purchased" on your Mac iTunes then click bottom right "Download previous purchases", then on the next page  click the tab "TV shows". Next click on "All TV Seasons  top of the left column. Finally click the tab marked "not on this computer". You should see these items then and can download them

  • How do I get movies purchased on Apple TV to download to my iTunes library?

Using iTunes 10.7 on my iMac where my main iTunes library is located.  I have a couple of Apple TVs with the latest updates.  When I purchase a movie on Apple TV, what is the easiest way to get it to download to my iMac?  It seems that it is much easier to purchase movies on my iMac and then they show up in the library for that computer on my Apple TV - but you have to wait for the movie to complete the download before you can watch it - sometimes inconvenient.
So, following a purchase of a movie on my Apple TV what is the easiest way to download that purchased move to my iTunes library so I can also watch it on the computer or my iOS devices?
SOLVED:  Looked at post labeled "Movie purchases in iCloud" and received my answer.  Movie now downloading into my iTunes library.

Thanks - I understand this in principle - but still think it should be up to the user.
If my Apple TV glitches and I lose a bunch of tv shows, its not the end of the world.
If I have no room on my computer for a large powerpoint presentation for work because my hard drive is full of Simpson episodes, it is.
Not giving the user the option not to have gig upon gigs sent to his computer is very.... well, Gatesian.

You can't do that. iCloud does function that way.

  • How do I access my iCloud content? Specifically movies purchased in itunes.

How do I access my iCloud content? Specifically movies purchased in itunes. I have multiple Apple devices, one itunes account, one cloud...purchased upgraded storage. The iCloud page on Apple website states that movies purchased in itumes are automatically transferred to the cloud. I can't find the movies unless I sync my devices via a cord. I am interested in purchasing Apple TV but want to make sure I will be able to access movies purchased.

Movies are not stored in icloud.  They are on the cloud - yes, but what Apple means,  is that you can redownload the movies via the iTunes Store, where all movies are stored (the itunes cloud).

I am in the UK if that is relevant.

  • Movie purchase isn't on iCloud

    Hi,
I bought a movie and got a purchase confirmation and I go into purchased items in iTunes and can see the movie with the iCloud icon next to it. I clicked on this to start downloading and when it finished I went to videos but no movie?
I tried this multiple times then it refused to download as I had no storage left. When I go to iCloud in settings it says I have 4.7 of 5gb available so looks like the original purchase didn't even download to iCloud. I'm stuck! I spoke to apple and they said reset the device but this doesn't work either. So I've paid for it, can see it in Purchased items in iTunes, it even seems to download (takes 10 mins, the blue bar comes up and goes right to the end) but then doesn't appear in videos? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Mphillipsb23,
You mentioned receiving an error message that there was not enough storage to download the movie. This may be true. To check the storage available on your iPad, we want to refer to the internal storage. Settings > General > Usage > "Storage". You can also check the available storage by plugging your iPad into iTunes, and viewing the capacity bar.
The storage you mentioned is actually different and unrelated to what we need. This is a free 5GB of storage Apple provides on our servers for your iCloud information (backups, documents, etc). For more information on iCloud storage, you can refer to the following:
    iCloud: Managing your iCloud storage

  • How to access purchased movies stored in iCloud?

How can I find my purchased movies stored in iCloud. I cannot find them in iTunes.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There are no movies in iCloud.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • Missing movies in my purchases and icloud

few movies i purchase in itune and just store it in icloud , now it missing in my icloud and as well in my movies purchase list. im scare to buy movies now in itunes....

Misssion impossible: the ghost protocol, the dark knight  and 2012 NBA champions, Miami Heat. i was able to watch it thru apple tv as i said thru by search box but it doesnt appear in my movie purchases in the apple tv. the one thing as i stated i buy movies in itune thru my laptop or desktop and it doesnt state if the movie is already purchased before. not like amazon it will state that you own the movie. to be honest right now i'm afraid buying movies in itune that it might suddenly disappear cause i buy movies in itunes and amazon but i mostly buy it in itunes for my collection but i realy scared right now..i buy in Amazon as of now as i said not a single movie is missing of the movies i purchased in Amazon But i hope itune will fix this problem cause im in the apple ecosystem with my  music and movie collections.

  • HT202157 Not all my movie purchases are showing up, does anyone else have this problem?

With the new software update for apple tv, it now supports movie purchases on cloud. It only worked with some of my movies. I still have 4 that are not showing up that I bought from iTunes. Is there a glitch in the system? Is anyone else having this issue?

You may find this support page for Apple TV useful in learning how to use your new product: <http://www.apple.com/support/appletv/>.

You must enable Home Sharing. See above support page for details.

Jurrassic Park and Bacvk to the Future trilogys are not showing up.  I just checked and you can get them from itunes.
Go look again and notice the text right under the buttons to purchase. All the Jurassic Park and Back to the Future movies say they are not availabl for iTunes in the Cloud:
There is nothing to "fix" since Apple does not control the copyrights for these movies; the copyright holders do. You'll need to talk to them about making these purchases available to iTunes in the Cloud.
If you go back and re-read this entire thread you'll see that not all movies studios have signed on to iTunes in the Cloud, and even those copyright holders who have signed on will not make all of their content available to iTunes in the Cloud.

  • I've got a new IMAC, but i don't have all my music or movie purchase on it.  I just recently updated iTunes.  How do I get my purchases back?

Ive got a new iMac and now that i updated iTunes I do not have all my music and movie purchases.  How can I get it all back?.  I used to have it before update

It doesn't magically transfer itself, you have to do it.  Purchase may present themselves for re-downloading but things such as CD are only on the old machine or on the CD.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "... back up your iTunes library. " (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).
    Additional tip at https://discussions.apple.com/message/24176756#24176756
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes if you have the sidebar displayed, or with the button at the top right.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • Can I move music and movies from one icloud account to another icloud account?

Can I move music and movies from one icloud account to another of my icloud accounts?

No.  Purchased music, movies and other iTunes media is permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase it and can't be transferred to another ID.  (Your purchases are stored in iTunes in the Cloud under the Apple ID used to purchase them.)

  • Viewing a movie purchased on Itunes

I am a newbie to Apple TV so please excuse my ignorance.  I have an Apple TV 3rd generation.  I purchased a movie on Itunes using my computer.   I can see the movie on my Itunes page under purchased movies.  I have not downloaded the movie.  Currently, there is a cloud icon by the movie.
When I am prompted to download the movie, what does this task actually do?  Does the movie have to be downloaded to my computer or can it be downloaded to an Icloud file?  Will I be given that choice to download to Icloud when I click on the download button?
How large, on average, are movies in terms of gigabites?
Assuming that I can download the movie to my icloud account, can I view this movie using Apple TV without having to turn my computer on?
Thank you and again, excuse my ignorance.

Unless you wish to store the movie file on the computer, you really do not need to download to maintain access to it. You may wish to do so if you wnat to watch it from the computer to prevent buffering delays, however.
as for watching on the Apple TV: Assuming you the AppleTV connected to the internet, and have signed in to iTunes with the AppleID used to purchase the movie, you are set. It does not have to be on the computer, nor does the computer need to be turned on to watch it. Simply open the Movies app on the AppleTV and select My Movies. The film will stream to the AppleTV directly (it isn't downloaded or actually stored on the device).

  • Redownloading my previous movie purchases in iTunes

Why can I not redownload my previous movies purchased on iTunes after Apple announced last night that you can know apparently do????

Maybe you don't have iTunes 10.6? Maybe you are not in the USA?  Maybe it is one of the ones that isn't available?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows and movies. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.

  • How do I move purchased movies from itunes to the cloud to free up space on my laptop?

How do I move purchased movies from itunes to the icloud?  I only want them off my laptop (library), as I need more space.  I want to keep them on the ipad they have been moved to.

    Patti23 wrote:

Delete them from the local computer.  Nothing gets moved.  If the content was purchased from iTunes it should be available for download again in the future.

If the device is synced with iTunes on the computer and the content is deleted from iTunes it will also be removed from the device.
Realistically, if you want to keep the content, keep it stored locally.  Purchase an external drive to store the content on.  Keep in mind that iOS devices are NOT backup devices, they merely mirror the content in the iTunes library on the computer.
