You know I really like iPhone, but it has some limitations. Trying to communicat by webpage is difficult for my 65 year old eyeballs. So I much prefer my 20 inch screen on the mac. But when I click on the app icon I get to the mac app store. I feel like I am in the wrong context and I probably am unless I simply missed a selection window that would allow me to switch to iPhone support. None-the-less, I suspect that they are 2 pods on the same floor of the same building. I mean, fancy meeting you here. And thank you for your concern.

here is what happened:
I have been using an iPhone App (Audio Memos Free - The Voice Recorder) to record song ideas (I am a songwriter). I have been using it for years.
I backed up my iphone to itunes, and backed up my mac on Time Machine. After a month or so I did a fresh OSX install on my mac, copied all of my files back from Time Machine into my mac, and tried to set up Time Machine. I was not able to do so, so I had to format the Time Machine Backup disk and doing a "fresh" mac Time Machine Backup.
After a week or so, my iphone asks me something like "you do not possess the rights for one or more applications". do not know what i did, but after 1 minute my iPhone was wiped out of all my apps and app contents. I had also the icloud app sync, so i did not worry, recovered from icloud notes, contacts, and all other things. so i did another backup to itunes.
Now i discover icloud did not recover or save the "Audio Memos Free" app content. I know the data are hidden into the Time machine Backup HD, but i do not know where to search for the itunes backup in it.
I know it is in library, but library won't show up.
Any help would be much appreciated.
PS there is a chance that, even without a data recovery, my latest itunes backup was containing these songs, but i do not know how to fish that out of the Time machine drive.

I'm not a Luddite but ... Don't want Cloud, too many problems, and don't want to update to iTunes 10.7 if match is included. So the question becomes how do I get updates for my apps without the new iTunes store agreement. I feel as though I'm dealing with Micro-you-know-who and having a bunch of garbage shoved down my throat. And looking through all the questions about software not working properly... I've been there before. What is going on with Apple? Makes me really nervous.

Match is optional (in fact you have to pay extra for it) - so carry on as before.
iCloud is separate from iTunes and is used for syncing - it's generally recommended you use a separate Apple Id for the stores(s) and iCloud anyway - that way the family can share music & apps but sync individually.

I want to use on app to edit photos on my macbook. Having a giftcard, I decided to purchase this app on my macbook, (even though i had already had this app on my iPhone). I pressed 'Buy App' and it did take money out of my giftcard balance, but it didnt say that I had purchased the app. But I'm thinking, I must have, because it took the right ammount of money out of my account! But it didnt download, or appear in my downloads. So, then, I decided to sync my apps from my iPhone to my Macbook, and it did, so I can see the apps in my iTunes...but i cant use them on my Mac. If you purchasd an App from within iTunes, it is designed for an iDevice, not a Mac. Mac compatible Apps are available from the Mac App Store.

Just cloud the sync once, activate the comp to your apple I'd in iTunes, ensure all software is up to date, turn on home sharing between the devices and you can reinstall the apps from the apple id purchase history via download.
You basically cleaned out the canonical data apple uses to validate all that, which was backup data. Like iOS devices have the purchased option on the App Store now, syncing the devices via the home sharing and properly activating them will give your comp the purchased cloud and free up 10gs of space on the precious solid states smaller drives.

First make sure you are searching the name correctly.
If the app is no longer in the App Store it is no longer available for download. This happens when Apple has found the app violates the agreement with the developer or when the developer no longer wants the app listed in the App Store.
If the app is truly no longer in the App Store your only option is to copy it from iTunes on the computer you normall sync with.

Facetime is not an application on the iPhone. It is built into the iOS. You need to go into Settings and activate Facetime. You need a mail server that supports this then. Hotmail premium I believe does, but the free version does not. Gmail supports it, and any ISP that offers IMAP supports this capability. iCloud definitely supports it, so if you create a free iCloud email account and switch your primary email to it you would have this capability.
