HT202159 iPhoto 9.4.2 upgrade error on Mac mini 5,1 running Mtn. Lion. Can't complete installation.
Have Macmini5,1 (2011) and iPhoto 9.2.2 using Mtn Lion 10.8.2. After 10.8.2 purchase and installation, iMovie and iPhoto updates were identified in the Mac App Store for installation. iMovie update went fine, iPhoto 9.4.2 got to 99% and then got an installation error. Went to 'Purchases' pull-down and re-tried update but same error. Not sure what next step should be.
Ok, let's try to update it through a New User Test Account.

I cannot access iPhoto now I have upgraded to Yosemite. Not available in UK! What can I do? I have hundreds of photos I need access to and more to save on my computer.
iPhoto should be still in your Applications folder and will still work. But if you failed to keep it up to date then Try Terence's instructions here Is Iphoto gone ?i want it back!

Because of a problem, I uninstalled Firefox once, reinstalled it and it ran. I had a problem so I uninstalled/reinstalled it again. Now it will not run. I get an error message saying that firefox is running and you can only run one at a time. I have uninstalled multiple times and can't figure out what is running. The is only one Firefox installed and it is not open. What does this mean and how do I fix it?
If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then try to disable Virtualization.

I have a Macbook Pro late 2012 model with intel processor and 4G of RAM. I upgraded to Yosemite and now my system is so slow. I do not have a backup to revert to because of insufficient space. I have ordered a 1T external drive to do a backup now. What can I do to improve my system performance? Do I need to upgrade RAM or do I have to reinstall Mtn Lion?

Mtn Lion not due out until the Summer, so no, you will not get a free upgrade. -

Power off and then back on the router
What happens when you enter the network's PW?
Try forgetting/deleting the network if necessary. To do that go to System Preferences>Network>wifi>Advanced and select the network and click on the minus sign

Upgrading ram on Mac mini server - different?
I plan to buy a mini server 2011 and upgrade it myself to 8GB.
Is there any reason why some sellers on eBay sates DDR3 specs for a mac mini 2011 specifically for a i5 or i7 ??.... Aren't the specs provided for ram upgrade for my base model the same for the mac server ? I'm asking since I want to order it even before I get the mini server...
Thanks

IPhoto won't install on my new mac mini
All other apps installed fine. I have the dual-core 1.66GHz intel with 1GB of factory installed RAM. When i tried to start iphoto it said "application is incomplete or damaged". I tried twice to install iPhoto again using the bundled software install on the DVDs but i got errors both times. Could i have a faulty DVD disc? here is the install log error message any help would be appreciated...

IPhoto - crash on startup on brand new mac mini
Hi
Just bought a new Mac Mini, ran migration assistant to move all my files over to the new machine. My iPhoto library is stored on an external hard drive.
Every time I launch iPhoto on the new Mac, it immediately crashes. The first 30-40 lines of the crash report is below. I have deleted and reinstalled iPhoto with and without the external hard drive connected, no change in result. Any advice would be appreciated.

If that doesn't help you'll need to boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and reinstall the system.
Lastly you have 90 days of free phone support from Apple so if all else fails call them. -
My desktop keeps rebooting ever since I upgraded to Mavericks.
Current setup, Mac Mini hooked up to home theater (Panasonic SC-HTB20) that is then hooked up to my Panasonic Plasma TV.
I usually leave my Mac Mini on running and at least once a day when I turn on the TV I can see that my desktop was rebooted. Firefox and Chrome will say that it wasn't shut down properly and if I want to restore my previous session. Also some times when I switched the input to watch TV and switch back, all my windows will be scattered out of place. For example Chrome will be in the top left hand corner to the point that it's almost minimized and I wouldn't be able to move it as well. Only thing I can do is close out these applications and relaunch them. It doesn't appear that the OS actually crashed, but more like the desktop/finder itself crashed. Cause once in a while I will switch back or turn on the TV and the screen will stay black for a few minutes then I'll see the cursor in the top right hand corner. After that I will start to see the desktop and my application start loading. It doesn't go through the regular process of rebooting where you see the Apple logo so I don't think the OS actually crashed but I could be wrong.
For some reason it seems like Maverick doesn't like the home theater system. An almost guarantee way to reproduce the issue is to wait for the home theater to turn off after it's been inactive for a while. If I turn it on the home theater to have the audio coming from it I will see the desktop goes black immediately then the whole desktop reboot process I mentioned above will kick in.
Never had any of these issues on 10.7 before I upgraded to Maverick.
Anybody have any suggestion? I really don't want to format and downgrade back to 10.7.
ThanksSounds like a kernel panic.
If you post the report we could have a go at deciphering it.
It would be in /Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports. -
Memory Upgrade in 2009 Mac Mini?
Hi,
I want to upgrade my Mac Mini to 4 GB of ram, it's the core 2 duo 2009 model.
I don't want to pay silly amounts for Mac own memory, has anyone ever used Crucial Memory in a Mini Mac? if so how does it run?
The other option I guess is to look at Corsair! As i believe they make the memory for Apple anyway! anyone else upgraded themselves? how did it go?
ThanksI read a lot before I upgraded mine to 4 GB. The difficulty was overrated. It took me < 40 minutes from never opening a Mini to running it with 4gb all put back together. Don't be scared by others descriptions. But do be careful whenever you take apart any delicate electronics.
It was far easier than taking apart my Thinkpads. There are videos on-line showing the whole process. Much better than still pictures. -
Memory Upgrade on Intel MAC MINI
Want to upgrade the memory from 512MB to 1GB. is this possible and how can i do it? Do i have to take it somewhere to have it done?
Mac Mini Intel Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.5) 512RAM 80GB HDDterryrocks,
If you go to the Apple store, select either model, and learn more under memory, it says " To maximize memory performance, it is recommended that memory SO-DIMMs be installed in pairs".
In an Apple note on memory it says "For optimum performance, it is recommended to use two SO-DIMMs (one in each slot) of the same DIMM size (e.g. two 512 MB SO-DIMMs)." The note is at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303378 -
Hi,
Basically my computer is running on Snow Leopard. My father bought the Lion upgrade to install on his computer, however, it ended up being that his newly purchased lap top already came running with Lion -- thus, he never ended up using the Lion upgrade he purchased. Now, I would like to use the Lion upgrade he purchased but did not use to upgrade my computer to Snow Leopard. The information he gave me for this was the Web Order Number, Part Number, and Content Code for the Lion upgrade. How do I redeem/use his upgrade to update my computer to Lion without having to purchase another copy of the Lion software from the App store? Is that possible?
Thank you so much!!!Unless he controls your machine (same household), you can't. At $30 USD, pop for your own copy.

What's the best system upgrade for 'older' Mac Mini?
My MacMini is about five years old:
Model Name: Mac mini
Model Identifier: Macmini4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MM41.0042.B00
SMC Version (system): 1.65f2
This mini is still running System 10.6.8, with the 'latest' version of Safari being version 5.1.10.
Lately, Safari fails to perform certain features correctly on certain websites, and I have to switch to Firefox to make the websites work.
Is it time for a system upgrade, so I can run a newer version of Safari? If so, which newer OSX system version would be the best for me to upgrade to?A few other things to consider if you want to upgrade your OS.
If you are using any apps that are still PowerPC apps, they will not run on
any newer Mac OS. So you will need to find replacements ($$$$).
Also, in terms of apps, you need to make sure the apps you are currently
using are compatible with the newer MacOS. You may need to upgrade ($$$$)
or find alternatives.
Also, you will need to make sure any external hardware that you use with
your Mac is also compatible with the newer MacOS. You may simply need to
update drivers or the hardware may no longer be supported ($$$$).
So, upgrading your MacOS could end up costing more than just adding RAM!!!
