HT202159 Problems downloading OS X Mountain Lion?

Hi there. Just purchased OS X Mountain Lion today. Tried download app 3 times. Every time when about 96% download was done got error and message "download can't be completed". Had to start fron scratch again. A d because this file is more than 4Gb, it was kind of pain. I don't know what is goin on. My IMac has enough room on hard drive. Memory is 16Gb. No problem at all. Mac Keeper 2012 shows me that all is perfect. What can be a problem?
Would appreciate any advice, because got stock in the middle of process.

Mac Keeper 2012 shows me that all is perfect.
MacKeeper is the problem.
So called cleaning utilities on a Mac can do more harm than good. Your Mac runs maintenance for you.

How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select Mountain Lion. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • HT3258 Hello all who are having problems downloading OS X Mountain Lion

If you are running Third Party applications, Mountain Lion may not download. The Apple Tech fixed my problem with the following instruction: Shut down your computer and start up in Safe Mode. Hold down the left SHIFT button while starting up the mac. When the progress bar appears, let go of the SHIFT button and let the computer start up in Safe Mode. Once restarted in Safe Mode go to the App Store, click on the TAB "Purchases" and DOWNLOAD Mountain Lion. I am running Adobe, Microsoft, and several other Third Party applications.  The Safe Mode start up worked - I was able to install Mountain Lion. Thank you Apple Support!

Klutz, just because you had trouble with Mountain Lion, doesn't mean everyone will.  That said, before upgrading to Mountain Lion, read these tips, to avoid the most common pitfalls:

    App store download problems:
    - Sign out of the App Store (in the Store menu)
    - Quit the App Store
    - In Finder - Go>Go to folder...  (or Apple-shift-G)
    - Paste in the following "~/Library/Caches/ "
    - It will take you to a folder.  Delete com.apple.appstore
    - Launch the App Store.  Sign in and then reclick the Mountain Lion buy.  It won't charge you again.

I keep getting an error message "The application could not be downloaded" when I am downloading OS X Mountain Lioin.  Need help.

You're certrain your Mac qualifies for Mountain Lion?  >  Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
Make sure there's enough available space on the install disk to install Mountain Lion (4.35GB file).
Click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info then click Storage from the menu.
Make sure there's never less than 15% available spacce.

Try downloading it in safe mode. Hold the Shift key while your Mac is starting to start into safe mode, and then, open App Store > Purchases, and download Mountain Lion.

  • HT202159 I have partially downloaded OS X Mountain Lion ...

I have partially downloaded OS X Mountain Lion. I lost my internet connection and my download stopped. I put my computer to sleep and took it somewhere else with a different connection to finish the download. Where I am, internet isn't very fast and so a download requires me to leave it on overnight . I got 3GB out of the 4GB the way there when this happened so I'd really like to avoid starting this over again.
When I go to purchases on the Mac App Store it says "An error has occurred" with a blank grey box next to it, and clicking it does nothing. Clicking "Check for unfinished downloads" also does nothing. Clicking "buy app" and it tells me I can download the app for free, and then it just hangs and nothing happens.
Is there a way to find the partially downloaded file on my Mac and restart where I left off?

Same issue.  I went into Activity Monitor and killed the stalled process.  When I restarted App Store, the download started from scratch.  I assumed that my earlier download had been overwritten, and sure enough, it had been.  I followed these instructions to reveal the temp directory:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57480536-263/tackling-mountain-lion-downloa d-errors/
There was only one file in there (mzm.whodaifs.pkg), and it's the same size as currently indicated by the App Store progress bar.  No 2.5GB file in sight.  At least that's not going to sit around taking up HD space.
I've come across this other method for restarting downloads:
    http://www.ryanragle.com/index.php?/site/comments/where-does-the-mac-app-store-d ownload-temp-files-to
Though it's now a moot question, I might try the debug menu method if it happens again.

  • Since downloading OS X Mountain Lion my WordSearch9 will not open. I got a message that X11 was not supported and directed to a sited to download XQuartz. Now when I try to launch WordSearch9 I get a message "X11 cannot be found.

Since downloading OS X Mountain Lion my WordSearch9 will not open. I got a message saying that X11 was not supported and directed to a site to download an update "XQuartz" which I did. Now when I try to launch WordSearch9 I get a message "X11 cannot be found". I did follow the instructions to download and install XQuartz, but there still seems to be a problem. Anyone have an idea?

Your report indicates Mountain Lion, but your footer indicates Lion.  I'll assume you're on 10.8.2; on the current Mountain Lion version.
    Rebooting is fine.
The posted diagnostics look like there might be a problem with the Xquartz install, or it is not starting, or it's not authorized for the sandbox.  (But I don't know enough about that to be certain.)
Try launching X11.app directly from your Applications > Utilities folder, and see if that works, or if shows any dialog boxes, or that reports any errors.
If you had an Xquartz kit installed and it's not the 2.7.4 (current) Xquartz kit, then please update to that version.  (I'm assuming that site is where you got your Xquartz kit from, too.)
I'd also suggest also discussing this more directly with the Xquartz folks via mailing list or the IRC channel, or collecting up the Xquartz logs and then posting a bug over at the Xquartz site; here are the details on bug reporting for Xquartz.

  • Did download OS X Mountain Lion and see the features in my applications, but not reflecting in my APPS purchases.

did download OS X Mountain Lion and see the features in my applications, but not reflecting in my APPS purchases.
also this takes huge amount of time, almost 10 hours to download, even using 3G Net connection.

    Hi kiwirudy,
I've had the same problem more than once since I started trying to download my 14 April purchase of OS X Mountain Lion.
I found a property list called manifest.plist in my ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder which had a Boolean property called failed checked. I unchecked it and afterwards I was able to resume my download.
Here are some steps I've found useful:
    Close the Mac App Store.
make a copy of the  ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder. For some strange reason the Mac App Store likes to just delete it in some circumstances, which will mean that one has to start one's download again from the very beginning.
Double click on the manifest.plist in one's ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder.
This should open it in Property List Editor.
Expand all the nodes (holding down the alt key and clicking on the highest collapsed node should do it.
Find a key called failed of type Boolean and uncheck it.
Save the manifest.plist and close it.
    Open the Mac App Store.
The red message "an error has occured" should now be gone and one should be able to resume one's download.
In the event that the ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder gets deleted:
start the download again (it will start from the beginning), pause it and close the Mac App Store.
copy your backup copy of the pkg file back to its sub-folder (it's a numbered folder in the ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore folder).
Open the Mac App Store and resume your download.
It should continue from where it left off.
This has worked for me so far. I'm holding my breath. Don't know if I'll still be alive when it's finished.
    Regards
    Nic

I had downloaded OS X Mountain Lion and had to replace my hard drive. Now when I try to download it only wants to upgrade since I show that I previously purchased it. What can I do to get the operating system back

I'm unclear on what the problem is. Have you installed a system on the new hard drive, and if so, what system? Had you actually installed Mountain Lion previously, or only downloaded it? And what does "it only wants to upgrade" mean? Have you actually got Mountain Lion already installed? (See About This Mac in the Apple menu.)
All Macs that shipped with Lion or newer are capable of internet recovery in situations like this. Just hold down command-R and it should start in recovery mode over the internet if necessary. You can reinstall the system from there. If you had Mountain Lion, I would assume that Mountain Lion would be the system you would get reinstalling that way.

  • How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion?

How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion? It's not in the App Store, it is nowhere on the Apple website . . . OK, so I guess it is supposed to be part of Mountain Lion, but I am running Mountain Lion and whatever version of Safari I ended up with would not even run at all . . .  so I trashed it (or at least what part of it I was allowed to trash) and though reinstalling it would be a good idea . . . but I can't find one to reinstall. The latest version I can find is for Leopard, and of course that won't run.
Not to mention that since getting Mt Lion, iPhoto won't run . . . it produces an error message saying I need to check with the developer to make sure it runs with this version of OS X! So I wonder who the developer of iPhoto is, who produces software that is incompatible with Mt Lion???
And even in submitting this there is no option to tag it for any OS later than 10.7.4!!

Since Safari is crashing, post a crash report...   reinstalling the OS X rarely helps a browser crash issue.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Please include the "binary images" section...

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X doesn't come with iLife applications, so you have to install them manually after installing Mac OS X.
Insert the Applications disc or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 DVD and install iLfe applications. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest update. If you want, you can purchase iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto in the App Store, so you will get the most recent version

i need the os x mavericks download, im on mountain lion, and i wish to obtain mavericks on my computer not yosemite

You will need to contact Apple, try iTunes Support. Mavericks was pulled from the MAS when Yosemite was released and the only possible way to get it is by contacting Apple directly.

Unfortunately, on a slow internet connection with Mountain Lion being a 4.34GB file, the download is most likely going to time out before it can finish.
A suggestion. Try pausing the download then resuming at intervals > Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
