HT202159 What do I do if there is no resume, and lost HD Space?

I've already downloaded 3 gig of MOUNTAIN LION. I had to restart my computer, so, I paused the download. When I came back to restart the download, there was no option to 'restart', only 'download'. There is no 'unfinished download' in the applications folder. Where did it go?
I have followed instructions on signing in, signing out. I'm a bit tired of this horsehockey.
This has happened about 5 times - which means I have been trying to download this for about 2+ weeks.
I have pleanty of space on my hard drive, like 50 gigs, and each time I do this it goes down by whatever the amount is before. So when this started i had 64 gigs of free space. Now its down to 50 and I am not doing anything other than trying to download mountain lion.
I want to do 2 things:
1) how can I simply 'resume' the download without having to start over again?
2) How can I recover all that downloaded space?

They are not there either. During the long download session the file is located in the applications folder. I go there and click on it to pause so I could restart. When checking there to resume, after my restart, it's not there, and it's also not anywhere else visible (ie. desktop, documents, etc.).

Two different questions
the best qway to backup is to use TimeMachine or other automatic backjup program
However this does not allow you to reduce space since a backup need to be a copy of your existing library and as soond as you changge the library you no longer have a backup and sooner or later the photos will be gone form the bakcujp too
You need to run the iPhoto library on an external drive or had a complete library on and external drive and a smaller library on yoru internal drive using iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to move photos between the two libraries
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

HT201272 There are purchased items that are no longer showing in the iTunes store because I upgraded to iTunes Plus format. What can I do? My hard drive crashed and lost a great deal of my music and it's not showing in iCloud.

What can I do to see items that I have purchased but upgraded to iTunes Plus? They are not showing in my iCloud as purchased, but I still can see the original protected versions from old backups. The original was downloaded with my iMac but the computers hard drive has burned out and needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the reply although I'm not too happy to hear it. What's awesome about the cloud is no longer having to keep up with any physical media. The promise of that is realized with everything else (my work, music, books) besides movies and TV.
I wonder how Google Play will handle movies/tv that becomes unavailable? Google Play does allow you to download media in some circumstances (on Android and iOS) but is generally intended for streaming. Maybe relying on a physical copy as I do with iTunes should make me more comfortable with it and not less.

Your best strategy will be to aggressively delete or archive space consuming media files; a complementary approach woud be to increase your HD space by either getting a bigger HD, or investing in an extra drive. Prices are very good, and several manufacterers offer reliable devices. I have three, which may also serve as backup devices.

With the App Store open, from the menu bar top of your screen, click Store > Sign In
Then try resuming the download.

It is now confirmed that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

All of a sudden my iDVD player doesn't want to burn 2-part movies or series. It says there is an error and says I have a blank dvd in the drive. What to do?

My idvd has stopped burning when it involves a 2-part movie or series. It starts alright but then stops and gives and error, not a code just says there was an error and the little box comes up that says I inserted a blank dvd and asks what I want to do. I need help with this and would really appreciate someone's experience.

Then I guess that the free space on Your Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk is less than 5Gb or worse - I never go under 25Gb when doing a DVD.
To make a DiskImage
• Start a new iDVD project (as there is an iDVD bug luring in old projects (closed one time))
• Arrange all material: Movies, SlideShows and extras etc
• Go up to File Menu - and down to Save as a DiskImage
(You need a minimum of 25Gb to let this work OK)
• Then close iDVD
• Double click on the .img file You just created on DeskTop
• Start DVD-player tool (If it doesn't jump up in action by it self)
• See that all plays as You want it to do
• Close DVD-Player tool
• Open Disk Util tool (Application folder / Tool folder)
• Now to the left - select the .img file
• Go up and click on BURN
• When asked to do so - Insert a new DVD
• NOW SELECT TO SET DOWN BURN SPEED TO x4 or x1 (as this gives a significantly better result)

And get a very good result

Lojack for laptops - if that is the product you purchased and installed, you will need to read the user manual or contact the manufacturer as it is 3rd party. You did file a police report right?

I was updating my iphone, there was an error and now it won't let me restore a backup. What do i do?

I was updating to the latest version of IOs 7 last night and when i woke up there had been an error with the update. When I tried to use my iphone the next morning it said there was an error and i needed to restore it. I did and now it is not letting me restore from backup. What screen saver options are there?

I have 3 Apple TV's set up in my home. What I want to know is there a way to have the screen saver work more like a picture frame showing one full screen photo at a time rather than the floating groups? What are all the options you can use if anyone on these feature? How can you select exactly what photos are displayed?

There are different screensaver themes, you can preview them by going into settings - screensaver. There is a small number of photos cached for the screensaver, there is no control over what order they are displayed.

I'm wondering if it moved my rhapsody music to the cloud (which is pointless) so I shut off 'document' sharing in case that's the problem, but it's still saying I'm at 5G right now.
When I go to icloud.com all I see is the dumb app icons, with no clue as to what's taking up that disk space.

Have you enabled Automatic Downloads on all of your devices? This would download all of the books to all of your devices when you download on any device - as long as you are using the same Apple ID and iTunes account on all of your devices.
Go to Settings>Store>Automatic Downloads>Books>On. When you download a book on one iDevice, it will download to all of your iDevices. This will only work for downloads moving forward from the moment that you turn the setting on. You will have to download the previously purchased books to all of your other devices.
With iCloud, you can start reading the book on one device and then pickup where you left off on another device.
