HT202213 Can't get music from shared library onto my iPod?

I have managed to set up home sharing, and I can see the shared library when I'm in my iTunes account, but I cannot transfer stuff from that library to my iPod.  I'm using a PC, the library I'm sharing is on a Mac, and I'm trying to get music onto an iPod Nano.  Any help?

More on this issue. So I see songs in my Music library, but when I try to move them over to either my created playlist on the device or under the playlist it show the circle with the line through it, not allowing me to move it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Hi, just updated hubby's iPhone 4 and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! He does have music still stored on his iPod, but can't get it from the library on his iPod back to phone or itunes. technophobe help pls!

and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! Luckily he does have music still stored on his iPod, but I can't get it from the library on his iPod back to the phone or to itunes. Please help, but technophobe so put it in simple english please!

Sounds like the music you had on your phone was not the same music on his computer. The iPhone/iPod touch is not designed to be a storage device. When you sync with a computer that doesn't have your music, it deletes your music from your phone.
Was this music you purchased from iTunes? if so, and you are in the US, tap on itunes app, tap updates, tap purchased and tap on the cloud icon to get each song back. If you're not int he us, get iOS5 update later this week and do the same.
But you need to move your itunes library to his computer. Create a user account on his macbook pro for you. From your external drive backup, load your itunes library on it. Then sync as usual! (Don't tell me you don't have a backup for your computer!)

  • How can i download music from a cd onto my ipod from a pc?

Hi, I'm kacia. I have a One Direction CD That i own. I really wanted to download the songs onto my ipod touch. So i plug the usb into my PC and go to the music download thingy. Now it says to plug in your device... I DID!! But i do notice that when i plug the device into my pc it says 'camera connected'. Last time i checked, an ipod wasn't just a camera. What does it mean, what do i do?? Please help!

You need to import the CD into your iTunes library. Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help and it says how to do that.. The sync the music to your computer.
To get iTunes to see your iPOd see:

  • I can't drag music from my PC onto my iPod anymore

Just updated to 4.3.5, and iTunes is current also. I had no trouble with it until yesterday, when my iPod temporarily forgot it had any content on it. A PC restart cleared that issue, but now I am unable to put new songs onto the iPod. I drag them from my PC into playlists on iPod, and it greys the track out while displaying the Sync icon (I think) next to the track, but never actually uploads it. The song remains greyed out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPod?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the Slide to Power Off slider

  • Can't get all the music from my library onto my iPod anymore

I got a touch and it would sync normally with my iTunes library. i got the 2.0 update recently and when i try to sync it, it says syncing then backing up and all of the music is gone from my iPod but it's all still in my library. I would reset the whole thing to factory settings but i don't want to have to pay the $10 update fee again so is there anything that I can do to fix this? thanks!

You can Restore and you will not lose the upgrade, as long as you are still connecting to the same computer. Make sure that the option to Sync Music is selected on the Music tab in iTunes (with the IPT connected and selected in the device list). Note that when you install the 2.0 update, that process performs a Restore (it's required), and then you need to re-sync all of your music.

  • I can't transfer music from Itunes library into my Ipod Touch

I transfered a music library into a new laptop bu all the song have !!!! and exclamation sign and I can't transfer any songs into my Ipod Touch, can somebody ghelp me??

Make sure "Manually manage Music and videos" box is checked under Summary tab.
If the box is already checked and you are still not able to drag it over, highlight the video in movie library and go to iTunes menu ADVANCED and select "Create iPod or iPhone version".  Drag the newly created version over.

  • ITunes 11.1 won't let me manually transfer music from my library to my iPod.

I just updated my iTunes to Version 11.1 and installed iOS 7 onto my iPod Touch.  I'm trying to manually add all of the music from my library onto my iPod but it won't let me.
    - Under the "Summary" tab I have the option "Manually Manage Music & Videos" checked off
    - Under the "Music" tab I DO NOT have the option checked off that says "Sync Music"
    - Before I upgraded to iOS 7 I deleted all of my music from my iPod and so I have full capacity of storage left on my device
    - iTunes says that I have 52.71 GB Free out of 64 GB
    - When I try and move any of the music from my library onto my device a red x is highlighted and it won't let me add anything to my device
    - I have restarted my computer
    - I have re-started my iPod Touch several times
    - I tried un-installing iTunes 11.1 and then re-installing it on my PC
    - My PC is running Windows 7 64Bit
I've never had this problem before so I don't understand what is wrong

If you had the same problem as me with my iphone 5, then follow these instructions and syncing new music should work.
Whilst in itunes 11.1 click the icon in the top left corner, it gives you options, click 'Add file to library' (ctrl+o) and add the music from your computer to the itunes library.
Once you see the music in your itunes library, drag the songs from your library to the right and an iphone/ipod section should appear and you drop it into your ipod.
Once this is done, click the ipod icon which should be on the right (near the top area) and once on the ipod options, go down and press sync. All the music that you added will appear on your ipod.
    Hope this helped, good luck.

  • How can I get music from old mac to new mac?

How can I get music from old mac to new mac please?
Can't seem to make Migration Assistant work. Doesn't ask about or transfer files.

I just migrated into a new MBP from an old one.
It did not bring the music over.  Apple's instructions are to use the Home Sharing feature of iTunes.
Open iTunes on your old Mac.  Select Home Sharing under the Advanced menu.  Sign in.  Do the same on your new computer.  Then when the library appears under Home Sharing on the left-hand panel on your new computer's iTunes, you can select all and Add To Library.
    That's what Apple says, anyway.

  • Music from shared library will not display by artist or album.

How do I set up home sharing to display music from shared library by artist and album?

I am not sure if the fix that cuatro476804 suggested is the issue here.  I have also been experiencing freezing issues with my Apple TV since the latest Apple TV/iTunes updates.  Here is the bug report I just submitted to Apple:
Since the last update to Apple TV or the last updates to iTunes (not sure which is the culprit) Apple TV freezes when trying to play music streamed from iTunes on a Mac.
I have an iMac running iTunes [11.01 (12)] and a 3rd gen Apple TV running the latest OS release as of 12-20-2012.  Since the last software update for iTunes and Apple TV, the Apple TV will freeze when playing a song after about 10 - 20 seconds.  This happens whether I am using my computer directly or when using the "remote" app on my iPhone 5.  I can restart my song again by pressing play, but the song will freeze again after another 10 - 20 seconds.
I can temporarily cure the bug by unplugging my Apple TV for 5 seconds to cold start the gizmo, and then both iTunes and Remote seem to be able to stream without any issues.
but when I try to play music the next day, the same freezing issue occurs again like clockwork.
I thought this was just a rare buggy issue, maybe even a WiFi or other communication problem, but I have been playing tunes on my Apple TV for a couple years streamed from my iMac with not problems.  This only started happening after the last software update.  Again, not sure if this is the Apple TV update, or the iTunes 10.01 (12) update causing this.
Daily rebooting of the Apple TV is not an acceptable solution.  Were this a Microsoft product, sure, but Apple product... its just supposed to work :-)
I hope others will report the same issue so this gets repaired soon.

  • When I try to sync music from itunes library to my ipod touch, it says it can't sync because the connection to the iPod was lost. Please help!

When I try syncing music from my library to my ipod, I get the message that it lost connection. My ipod is plugged in to the computer though. Does anyone know how to fix this?

How is your iPod configured to sync music? In other words, what options and configurations do you have enabled from under your iPod's Summary and Music tabs in iTunes?
Maybe have a look at this article as well to verify your iPod is set up for syncing music.
