HT202213 How do I enable "bonjour" on my computer?

I was wondering how to enable "bonjour" for the sharing of my iTunes

In your Start menu, right-click "Computer" (or "My Computer" if using XP) and select "Manage".
Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Perhaps maximise the screen to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the Bonjour Service and select "Properties".
In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Automatic":
... and click OK.
Restart the PC. Do you still get the message about the service being disabled?

    The file was eventually deleted accidentally.
    Download and/or install again from scratch -> http://www.apple.com/support/bonjour/
    There is a troubleshoot section on that address too.
    Also eventually download iTunes again and install -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/

  • I jailbroke a phone and don't really care if it is jailbroke anymore.  So i want to go to 5.1 and I can't figure out how to enable bonjour which seems to be the problem

    I jailbroke a phone and no longer want it that way I would rather upgrade to 5.1 software and the problem seems to be because it disabled bonjour from i tunes . ,
    How do i enable bonjour or just how do I get 5.1 software on a jailbroke phone?

    Bonjour has nothing to do with this.
    Restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup to get rid of that garbage which removed all built-in secuirty included with iOS on your iPhone.
    If your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes, check this link.

  • HT1386 how to enable bonjour?

    I can't seem to enable bonjour on my computer.  It show as "automatic", but when I go to iTunes, I get the message that it is disabled. What am I missing?

    Try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  This will reinstall bonjour.  Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.

  • How to enable bonjour, services indicate it is on automatic

    how to enable bonjour
    services indicate it is on automatic

    Bonjour is Apple's implimentation of Zero Configuration networking and is the services discovery networking technology used by all Apple hardware and software. It is turned on and used automatically when the various sharing services are activated on your Apple computers and connected devices.
    What is the problem you are having?

  • How do you use Bonjour to download SoundAmp app recordings?

    I have the SoundAmp app installed on my iPhone 4s and use it to make recordings.  But some are too big to email, so you're supposed to be able to download them via Safari and Bonjour.  But enabling Bonjour on Safari is not helping to find the recordings.  How do you do this?  Is there supposed to be a Bonjour on the iPhone Safari?  If so, I cannot find it.  I made sure on same WiFi connection with my Mac and enabled Bonjour on the Mac Safari thinking that it might find the recordings that way, but no luck.  The only successful Bonjour enabled access is to my Epson printer.  Any suggestions out there?  Soundamp is a GingerLabs product, but not much out there in terms of support info.

    If your computer is behind a router with an Internet connection, you will simultaneously be connected to the local network and the Internet. Bonjour can then be used to communicate with other machines on that network, and AIM can be used with outside computers. If a computer is connected directly to the Internet, such as through a hub, there is no networking difference between computers in the house and those outside.

  • How do I enable the Move Option When Importing (It's Greyed Out)

    Bonjour,
    I am trying to figure out why Aperture 2 does not ask to delete photos from camera (Canon SD950 IS) after import or why the "move" option is 'greyed' out. I have searched the forums here and have only seen people offer advice why this is not good. Not to be an A##, but I don't want advice. I need an answer to my question. How do I enable this functionality? I know that it is technically possible as the simple app "Image Capture" that comes with Leopard does exactly this.(Imports then Deletes from my camera) It's just that Aperture cost too much money in my opinion to force one to use an external app to do what you want done, especially since it is not a difficult function to perform as evidenced by aforementioned app in Leopard. TIA.
    Hardware: 17' Glossy HiRes Mac Book Pro 3.1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz 4GB Ram
    OS: Mac OS X 10.5.3 All updates applied
    App: Aperture 2.1
    A bientot,
    William.

    Please don't take the following as a flame...
    <quote>The move option is grayed out when importing from a card to save you from yourself. At least that's what I've always assumed.</quote>
    That's a bit draconian don't you think? Why have the option greyed out if you don't want the user to be able to do this. It's kind of like saying hahah, this is possible to do, but, you, the user, are a moron. Why even place the option on the page in the first place.
    <quote>It just happens to be a bug that few on this forum care to see fixed because most of us feel that using it is unwise due to the danger of lost images and corrupted cards.</quote>
    Again, why put it on page as an option if it weren't intended to be enabled in a plist somewhere for those who wish to be 'unwise.'
    My logic is as follows: If Apple provides software that is more accessible to the 'unwashed masses' (because it's included with Leopard ie. Image Capture) and it deletes images directly from the camera, then why would a professional package (Aperture) limit the so called 'professional' from designing and using his/her own workflow governed by their own experience. Which could include first a backup to dvd or other device of your choice (keyword here: CHOICE) THEN import images and delete directly from the camera. Logically this is completely BACKWARDS, the app available to the 'masses'(Image Capture) should NOT let the user delete images directly from the camera and the 'professional' app (Aperture) should allow more flexibility for the advanced user who understands the implications of his/her work flow and adjusts accordingly.
    Besides, And I quote myself "I have searched the forums here and have only seen people offer advice why this is not good. Not to be an A##, but I don't want advice. I need an answer to my question. How do I enable this functionality?"
    Therefore, respectfully, your answer is: non sequitur.
    Best Regards

  • Cannot enable bonjour

    I cannot connect to bonjour. When I go to iChat preferences/accounts, the "enable bonjour messaging" check box is greyed out. How can I check this box to turn on bonjour.
    (Bonjour works, by the way, for the administrator account, but not for the other accounts, which are standard accounts.)
    Any help.
    Thanks.
    Rob

    It is a Known problem that Parental Controls does not allow Bonjour or Jabber Chats.
    Also if Testing in a New Mac User Account but using the same iChat Details can mark all the AIM Buddies as Blocked, in iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Security Tab which you then have to reset in the original account after deselecting Parental Controls in the New Mac User.
    Hopefully Snow Leopard will improve Parental Controls on this.

  • How can I enable embedded pl/sql gateway to run on port 80

    I have a new 11G install on OEL 4.0, database created. I would like to be
    able to access the instance using the pl/sql gateway. Works fine with
    port 8080, the default. How to I enable it to run on port 80?
    I found this statement in the following docuementation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/xdb22pro.htm#ADXDB2500
    Using HTTP(S) on Nonstandard Ports
    By default, HTTP listens on a nonstandard, unprotected port: 8080. To use HTTP(S) on
    the standard port, such as 80, your DBA must chown the TNS listener to setuid ROOT
    rather than setuid ORACLE, and configure the port number in the Oracle XML DB
    configuration file /xdbconfig.xml.I have root priviledges on the box.
    I've tried setting the listener file permissions:
    chown root:dba /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr
    chmod 6775 /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr
    Also put root in the dba group.
    The permissions turn out like this:
    -rwsr-sr-x 1 root dba 830854 Jun 17 21:04 /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr
    I stopped the listener, bounced the database, and started the listener again.
    But it still shows the process being owned by oracle:
    oracle 29682 1 0 21:08 ? 00:00:00 /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit
    Changing the port is easy:
    Connected to:
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.6.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options
    SYS>select dbms_xdb.gethttpport as "HTTP-Port" , dbms_xdb.getftpport as "FTP-Port" from dual;
    HTTP-Port FTP-Port
    8080 2100
    At this point, I can access the apex home page with the following url:
    http://hostname:8080/apex/f?p=4550:10:1454849288245548
    I can than change it to port 80:
    SYS>begin
    dbms_xdb.sethttpport('80');
    dbms_xdb.setftpport('2100');
    end;
    2 3 4 5
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SYS>SYS>select dbms_xdb.gethttpport as "HTTP-Port" , dbms_xdb.getftpport as "FTP-Port" from dual;
    HTTP-Port FTP-Port
    80 2100
    When I try to access apex with the following url:
    http://rmdcopslnx1.us.oracle.com/apex/f?p=4550:10:1454849288245548
    I get the following:
    Failed to Connect
    Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at hostname.com.
    Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.
    * Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.
    * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
    * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings
    * can interfere with Web browsing.I can set the port. Just can't talk to it.
    This is the entry from the listener log:
    <msg time='2008-07-03T15:40:09.741-06:00' org_id='oracle' comp_id='tnslsnr'
    type='UNKNOWN' level='16' host_id='hostname'
    host_addr='xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'>

    TNS-00516: Permission denied
    Linux Error: 13: Permission denied
    </txt>
    </msg>
    So this looks like an permissions problem. But where? I posted
    this on the apex forum here:
    Re: How can I enable embedded pl/sql gateway to run on port 80
    They suggested asking here.

    No, that thread did not provide the information that I need. Some more data:

    http://rmdcopslnx1.us.oracle.com/apex/f?p=4550:10:1454849288245548

  • How do I enable an add-on in Firefox safe mode?

    So recently I have had a problem with Firefox crashing all the time and found out it was an add-on that was causing the problem.
    I have tried opening Firefox in safe-mode to disable add-ons but they are already disabled, so I want to know how to enable an add-on and then to permanently disable it so Firefox will open normally again. . .
    I have already tried to permanently disable all add-ons by using the Firefox options box but nothing happens after I click on the 'make changes and restart firefox' button. After I click it nothing happens and it remains frozen. ([https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe mode Window])
    So to make things short, how do I enable an add-on in Firefox safe mode?

    In Firefox 4 and later [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and also disables hardware acceleration.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
    You should still see a Disable button or Enable button (if you disabled them all) in the extension Manager (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) if you start Firefox in Save mode.
