HT202358 Lost photos with upgrade

I lost the last 18 months of my photos when I upgraded my iPhoto with the recent upgrade for
'11. How can I find and restore them?

Ok,  I was able to speak with my son, and in iPhoto i looked under file and there was now 2 libraries to choose from, between both were all my pictures!
Now my son would like to know if there is a way to merge the two libraries into one?

  • Lost photos in upgrade iPad

I recently bought a new iPad 4 after losing my iPad 2.  In the upgrade I seemed to have lost photos.  My previous data etc was always backed up regularly through iOS 6. I have upgraded to iOS 7 on the new iPad but still no photos.  What can I do to restore my photos?

    Hey there
I recovered my xmas photos (thank god!) from my iPad.  It took me ages to find out how to do it but in the end I followed these instructions.

  • Lost photos when upgraded to mountain lion

So I had all of my photos stored in iPhoto, but my work upgraded my OS from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion (yes, I realize Lion was skipped), I lost iPhoto along with all of my photos.  iPhoto came pre-loaded on my machine, so I don't have the software to re-install iPhoto.  Advice?  I did save my photos on an external hard drive (via time machine) prior to upgrading, but I'm not sure if they'll be accessable since I don't have iphoto on my computer anymore.  Thanks!

In Notes, under View in the menu bar, click on Show Folders List. There might be a folder in which they are...

  • Lost Photos with iPhoto update

I just updated to the most recent iPhoto software with my software update on my MacBook and lost all photos. I take so many photos thus do not keep them on continuous feed with iCloud and had not backed them up elsewhere! HELP!!!! Where have the photos on my harddrive gone? How can I recover these?!

what version of the OS and of iPhoto do you have? why do you think you have lost your photos? Exactly what do you see and exactly what happened and happens?
And with no backup sooner or later you sill lose everything including all of your photos - if they have any value at all to you you will get a large (2 to 2 1/2 times the size of your main drive) and start running TimeMachine all of the time - today

  • Lost Music with upgrade 9.2 - Found iTunes Database File???

When I upgraded to 9.2 itunes, I lost all the music I had downloaded from CD's. I found the itunes database file dated October 2007 in the Previous iTunes Library Folder. How do I get that music back on the itunes library dated August 2010 which was the date of the upgrade?? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Are you saying there wasn't an ITL file with a more recent date? There should be one from the date you upgraded to 9.2 if it is on the same PC and same windows userID.

  • I lost photos with a backup

I have a new ipad and I did a backup with the old, In the new ipad I had some pictures that I lost. How Can I find these pictures.
(Español): Compré un nuevo Ipad y le hice backup con el antiguo, en el nuevo había sacado algunas fotos que las perdí con el backup, ¿Cómo las puedo recuperar?
    Gracias

If you restored the new iPad from the backup of the old iPad, the photos are gone now. The camera roll photos are stored in the backup so you wrote over the photos in the new iPad by restoring from the backup .... If I undertand what you are saying - that is.

  • Lost photos when upgraded to Iphoto 11 - Time machine is off.

I just upgraded my iphoto and have lost all my photos. When I upgraded it was pretty quick and asked me which iphoto I wanted to use. I clicked on the first one. It didn't open the first time but the second time it opened fine...NOW ALL MY PHOTOS ARE GONE! My time machine is off (apparently the computer comes like that and you have to turn it on) and I have no backup!
    PLEASE HELP!!!

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'

  • Lost photos after upgrade

I've just upgraded my OS and photos uploaded to iPhoto from November 2013 til now have disappeared. Where have they gone and why? My iPhoto is version 8.1.2 - and that's because I'd read a lot of horror stories about later versions - now one of them seems to have come true.
    Can wnyone help me please?

Simple solution: restore from your back up.
    Other than that:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
As a general rule there are horror stories about every version of iPhoto - and indeed, every other app too. Such reviews aren't worth the paper they're not written on.
The problems with them are manifold: for a start, happy people are less likely to review, unhappy happy are much more inclined to. That's why we don't have thousands and thousands of posts on this forum from all the people who have no problems saying "look I have no problems". Unhappy people get cross and are more likely to express that anger in negative reviews.
Then what about the reviewer? What is his or her knowledge, experience and skill level? No doubt they are having problems, and real ones, but how do you know if their issues are problems with the app, their own inexperience, third party conflicts and so on. I've seen people on here claim the fact that iPhoto won't edit video is a bug. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of posts from folks on here who are certain they've found a bug, only for their glitch to be resolved. No review is worth anything unless you know something of the reviewer, his or her knowledge and experience.
So frankly, I never bother with those reviews on any such stores, not just iPhoto on the Mac App Store.

  • Lost photos after upgrading to iPhoto 11

My library had grown to 90,000 pictures, so it was recommended (local Apple Store) to upgrade to Aperture sonce it had better database management.
I purchased Aperture for 80 it then asked that I upgrade iphoto so the library is compatible for both. I purchased iphoto 11 for $15
After installing, iphoto 'upgraded' my library to be compatible
When done, my 90,000 photo library shows as 47000 ! It can't find half my pictures
Navigating through 'Package Contents' , fortunately, I still see my pictures in 'Originals'. How do I safely get the library - ipHoto-11 or Aperture to see all 90,000 ?

(In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)

  • Lost ringtones with upgrade

I cannot access my ringtones since the upgrade to OS 5 on my iphone 4.  They seem to sync with iTunes, but are not available as choices on the phone itself

    andahuailas,
I would recommend first searching your iTunes folder if you were able to recover it for .m4r, and dragging those songs into iTunes.
Some additional suggestions including contact information for the iTunes Store's customer service can be found on this page:

    Hope this helps,

I have tried all the steps in the "Lost Bookmarks" support section but they did not help. All I did was upgrade to firefox 3.5.10 and I lost my bookmarks as well as all the history. The upgrade just asked for restart. (OS- Windows Vista)

  • Lost utube with upgrade

Just did the upgrade to ios6, lost utube I get its owned by google, but didn't expect that. I know I can u tube via safari, Problem is I can't use air play to stream videos via Apple TV to my big screen.  Very upset. How can I revert back?

First, there is no going back once you've gone to IOS 6 (firmware gets changed)
Youtube for iPad is NOT available yet however Google reports it will be once Apple approves the app.
you can upload Youtube for iPhone however it isn't a full screen app.
    Welcome to our iWorld-of-iHurt :>)
but surely this will all get worked out eventually.

  • Can't print 4X6 photos with upgrade 3.2

I get an error msg when I try to pring 4 by 6 inch phots, can print the other sizes

I cannot print photos. I have 4x6 Kodak Ultra Premium paper. I have a new HP Photosmart C5280 printer with a photo tray. The tray seems only accessible from a camera memory card and my photos are on my computer. In Adobe or the HP Photo programs the same menu comes up and I have gone through all the choices. None will print. Error message keeps repeating "wrong paper size."

  • HT4623 Lost Apps with Upgrade to iOS7

I lost all my apps when I downloaded iOS7.  Does anyone know if they are somewhere on my phone (perhaps where I cannot access or immediately locate them - if so where?) or do I have to redownload them?

If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.
