HT202359 I have redeemed a gift card but how can I use the credits that I gained?
I have redeemed a gift card and gained 5 song credits. When I try and buy songs, iTunes takes me through to the ''redeem'' page but when I try and enter the gift code, it just opens up a window that says this code has already been redeemed. How can I actually use the credits to buy songs? There doesn't seem to be an option to use ''credits''... Thanks.
What exactly do you see when trying to buy a song, what messages appear ? You can't change how items are billed, it's automatic, as long as you are buying for yourself then your account's balance should be used for the purchase, it's only if gifting (which can only be done via a credit card) or if your balance doesn't cover the entire purchase price that credit card details should be asked for - or if it's a new account and you didn't follow particular steps when creating the account. (A gift card can only be redeemed once, you can't re-enter its code.)

Apple "verifies" your billing information with every transaction whether it's purchasing media from the balance of redeemed gift card or a debit or credit card account.
Click Account right side of the App Store window then click View Account.
Make sure your name and billing address is correct then click Done.
Now try purchasing an app. -
I lived in the US for a few years, spent a fortune on iTunes [my then local Apple ID account]. Now I live in South Africa and want to use Match. I have a local credit card but how do I use my new / 2nd Apple ID and gain access to all my US music??
You have to be in a country to use its store - you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account to be able to use the US store (that applies to buying and redownloading).
You can use iTunes Match in South Africa, do you not have a backup copy of all of your US iTunes purchases so that you can subscribe to it and upload those that aren't in the South African store to it ? -

You cannot change your iTunes country unless you are really moving to another country, nor can you change country association for a gift card. Give it as a gift to a friend who lives in the country of origin for the card.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.

I am a grad student from NYC and at a university in Montreal. I was given a 500$ gift card as a gift to put towards a new ipad. BUT, I apparently cannot use the US gift card in Canada. So, what do I do? I have no time to head back to NYC to get it. I want to order it, but not sure they will ship to montreal...? And was thinking of sending it back to my parents and then have them buy it and mail it to me, but I I think them having to pay tax on this is ridiculous. On top of that, I should be able to garner the ed discount but I dont think the US recognizes Canadian schools in their system and visa versa. SO if I do buy it in the US, I can use my gift card but I can't get the discount. Or if I buy it here in MTL, I can get the discount but I cannot use the gift card..
Can anyone suggest a solution? all bright ideas welcome.You can only use a gift card in the country it was issued in - no way around that as the Apple Store does NOT offer currency exchange with gift cards.
Nor can you order from the USA online store and ship to any address outside of the USA - again, no way around that as the online stores do NOT ship internationally.
You could send the gift card back to someone in the USA, to use to purchase your item for you, and then once they receive it, they could ship it to you. Canada customs will hold it until they collect any import fees and taxes levied on imported consumer electronics though.
Either that or buy it in Canada with the discount, and use the card later when you get home again. -

1. Go to App Store and select a free app
2. Tap INSTALL APP
3. Create New Apple ID
4. Confirm Your Country
5. Agree with Terms and Conditions
6. Fill in your Apple ID and Password (must be a valid email address)
7. Create and answer your secret question e.g. What is the name of my dog?
8. Select NONE for Payment Method
9. Fill in Billing Address i.e. your address
10. Submit application for new Apple ID
11. Wait for verification email
12. When email arrive, verify your account

Nonesense, why would a service that offers redeemable cards as cash would require a credit card verification. Who is answering this question? I am sick of Apple! I am here because I want to buy music for the year end festivities and had this card that I got when I bought a very pricey Mac Book Pro for my daughter, I thought at least I was getting something out of an outrageously high priced machine, but no, they cant' just make things easy for you...
