HT202389 Final Cut Pro Trial version to full version

Can you import from trial version to the full version which is downloaded on a different computer? F

Don't worry you won't lose your work unless you do something like delete the library.
To work efficiently, all your media and projects should be on an independent HD but I assume yours is the the Movies folder on your laptop.
If you have enabled sharing between both computers, you can simply connect them together and drag the Library in question from one device to the other using finder.
Far better to put the library onto an external HD - and back it up onto another drive for safe keeping. Drives fail occasionally, with catastrophic results for video projects.

  • Can I transfer a project from the trial version of Final Cut Pro X to the Full version

Can I transfer a project from the trial version of Final Cut Pro X to the Full version which I have now downloaded.

The trial version is named "Final Cut Pro Trial" and the App Store version is called "Final Cut Pro".
So, they can both be in the Applications folder at the same time, but only one can be open/launched at a time.
If, for some reason, your trial is older (like version 10.0.4) that your newly purchased FCPX (should be 10.0.5), and you do not click Update to your events/Projects, they will NOT show in the bought version!
Open the licensed FCPX and make sure it does update your things, in case it asks for it!

  • HT4926 I started editing my project in Final Cut Pro trial, then purchased the full app. Now I can't find my project. What gives?

Did you by any chance move the Events and/or Projects folders? Are they on an exteranl hard drive and it is now not plugged in?

  • "Final Cut Pro Trial.app" can't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.

Downloaded the FCP trial version from the Apple FCP site several times and still get the following error.
“Final Cut Pro Trial.app” can’t be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.
Safari downloaded this file today at 1:34 AM from www.apple.com.
Strange that Apple can't verify it's self.

To get around that, go to system preferences>security & privacy>allow apps loaded from anywhere. Then set it back to whatever you wish after you finish the download.

  • I have been working on a project on final cut pro trial, just purchased the real deal, but cannot find a way of importing the project

I have been working on a project on final cut pro trial, just purchased the real deal, but cannot find a way of importing the project

    You don't import the project.
I'm going to assume that both the trial version and purchased version were 10.1.
Open FCPX and then Open Library>Other, Navigate to wherever you stored the library (ies) you worked on when you used the trial. Choose that library and your work should be in one or more events in it.

  • Using the final cut pro trial, i can't export?

i downloaded the final cut pro trial a while ago, not activating until recently. i guess before i activated it, after downloading, i had to get switch my glitchy macbook for a new identical one. i don't know if this is the problem, but it could be. i am making a movie in the trial version, and under commands, export is not clickable. so, i used the share option, and tried to share it as a master file... then to an apple product... then tried to share to youtube. all result with the same thing. it'll act as if it's working, but after maybe 30 seconds a little message saying "Share Failed." when i click on details, all it says is "The operation could not be completed because an error occurred when creating frame 1543 (error -1)." I don't know what that means. Does it mean one of my clips is the glitch? I have no idea what the problem is here. Are you even allowed to export using the trial version anyway? I haven't been able to get a straight answer there either. Thanks!

As Bobbyyco said, you should definitely be able to share from the trial version.
In Preferences>General>Time Display, you can change the to Frames, which makes it easier to locte the slip that includes the frame in the error message.
You could then use a replace edit to substitute something ales in its place. Then use the range tool to select a short section that includes the replaced clip and export as a master file.
If it works, your project should export. (Transcode a new version of the clip by right clicking and use that as the permanent substitute clip.
If it doesn't work, turn off background rendering in Preferences. Select your project and from the File menu, choose Delete Project Render FIles. When prompted choose All Files. Do another test export as a master file without rendering.

Yes, you can encode and burn the disk with the trial version.

PS: There is no difference in functionality between the trial and paid versions.

  • My files from final cut pro trial aren't transferring to final cut pro x - how do I fix this?

I had been making a video in the final cut pro trial and didn't realize my trial was going to run out as soon as it did that day. I downloaded final cut pro x and was planning on finishing up editing tonight, but none of my files from final cut pro trial transferred over to final cut pro x. Everywhere I have read online said they should transfer automatically, but that's not happening. Is there a fix?

you're tried using the 'Open Library' command?

Ive been trying to download the 30 day free trial of Final Cut Pro X but I can't get passed the pop up "Verifying 'Final Cut Pro Trial'".  I have already tried doing system preferences>security>anywhere but still no luck. I even tried restarting my computer after, but nothing. GoPro Studio and QuickTime Player have been giving me a hard time exporting as a .mov file and QuickTime not being able to read it, so i want to try out Final Cut Pro to see how it goes but everything i try is just a headache. I just want to finish my video! Please help! I know theres a lot of these problems that keep happening but every one i read, i try and nothing. Thank you!

Yes, date and clock set correctly

  • Final cut pro trial

When burning a dvd on final cut pro trial it gets to 66% then won't go any further...can anyone help?

In the export dialog> Settings, does your optical drive appear as a choice in the Output Device field? Use the Range tool to make a short selection. Choose Hard Drive as Output Device. does it complete the process by making a disk image?

  • Final Cut Pro Trial won't let me export

So I got the Final Cut pro Trial about 2 weeks ago and I was able to export 3 videos just fine. Now all of a sudden I just finished my 4th video, added commentary and everything else and it won't export. I don't see anything wrong with the project except for some reason the cross dissolve transitions won't render. Nothing is going on in the background, I've tried closing out the program, restarting my computer, nothing helps. I can export any other projections too. For some reason I click file, share, master file and nothing happens. I'm able to click it, but once I click it, nothing happen, where as before the export settings pop up. I always tried using the export option on the right, and the same thing happens. I checked and all the files are working fine, so it's not like any clips are missing. Can anyone help? Thanks

Could you post a screen shot of the project libary and the toolbar?
Reinstalling the app doesn't effect the events or projects. Sounds like some weird permissions problem.
