HT202612 Guided Access - set default settings?

I want to set my default Guided Access settings so that every time I turn it on, my volume and sleep/wake buttons are enabled.  Is there a way to do this?  Right now, I have to RE-set those specific settings every day for my next group of students.

Posix permissions have three entities that permissions are granted for, owner, group, and others.
On those three entities, you can have read, write, and execute permissions. The Mac OS X GUI calls others everyone. Take a look at [this article|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2963]
Staff is the default group a user is placed into.
Others can read your home folder so that they can read the Sites folder and the Public folder. All the other folders should only have read privileges for the owner (you). When you create a file/folder, it inherits the permissions of the enclosing folder. So, if you create a new folder inside your home folder, it will automatically have read permissions for others. If you create a folder inside one of the default folders in home, it will only be readable by you.
You can change the permissions on those folders you create right inside the home folder so that others cannot read them.

  • Any Way to Set Default Settings for HDR Toning?

    I have developed a nice set of parameters for the HDR Toning feature and have saved them as Noels Defaults, but I don't see a way to make them the default settings for HDR Toning.  Frankly I find the default color settings for the tool very garish.  I suppose that's good, because it always reminds me that I need to select my own settings, but...
    Can you suggest a way to make my own settings the HDR Toning dialog defaults, so as to save a step each time I use it?
    My apologies if I'm being dense and missing something obvious.
    Thanks.
    -Noel
    P.S., I'm on Windows 7 by the way, and of course I'm talking about Photoshop CS5.

    Thanks Zeno.
    Well, then, Adobe, could you please make the defaults settable, for example like Camera Raw?
    Thank you.

  • How to silently install and set default settings

    I need to deploy FireFox 16.0.2 to a bunch of Windows computers and set some default settings. Is there a good article that can walk me through it?
    I also need to set the home page, have it not check for the default browser, and disable updates. The -ms option does silently install FireFox so I guess I just need to know how to configure FireFox for our environment and push out those settings with the install.
    I have versions ranging from 1 to 15. Do those old versions need to be removed first or can 16.0.2 be installed over what is already there? Is there an uninstall switch for this so that I can create a package to remove it?

    hello jmoody76 - you can manage central settings with the mozilla.cfg file in the firefox program folder. this article gives some guidance on how to implement that: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences]
    i think it may work to just install the new versions on top of the older ones (though i'm not sure if this has any unintended side effects on those very old installations) or according to https://wiki.mozilla.org/Installer:Command_Line_Arguments it's possible to run a silent uninstall through the setup executable by /S.

  • Setting default settings in Preview

    I'm developing a Bento database of my library and I'm using Preview for scanning book covers. I'm interested in seeing if I could set some default settings:
    1) When using Preview to import from my Canon MP800, is there a way to configure the scanning program to the settings I want to use (75dpi and color) instead of the 25 dpi and text setting that this always starts off with?
    2) After scanning in 20 book covers I save each as a separate file, but when I give the save command it always defaults to JPEG200 format and I have to change it to JPEG.  Can this be set somewhere?
    I see nothing in Preview Preferences that allows me to do this, and it amazes me that there is no way to improve this workflow...

    Same question for me.
    Very annoying to select again everytime you scan...
    Any idea someone ?

  • Setting Default Settings, Programs from Admin Account

    So I am new to Macs, this may be a stupid question.
    I am the administrator on a new 24" iMac for my work. I am trying to set defaults (backgrounds, docks, desktop items, etc.) for the accounts for my staff. I want to set it up so every new account that I create has the same set of programs on the dock, the same desktop background, same default programs, same programs on-login that sort of thing.
    I imagine that this is pretty easy, but I've done some searching and came up blank. Thanks for your help!

    Set up an account as desired, and then copy the files from its home folder to the /System/Library/User Template/ folder. This needs to be done as root, and the copies in the template need to be owned by root.

  • Set default Settings for Brightness/Contrast Slider

    I am in the throes of editing several hundred pictures. My camera has a standard tendency toward too bright and not enough contrast. While editing about a hundred pictures in Photoshop Elements 3.0 last night, the brightness/Contrast and Shadow highlight slider suddenly retained the last setting - which GREATLY enhanced my editing efficiency! Alas, today it is back to normal - the Brightness/Contrast slider default is 0 for it's associated sliders and the Shadow Highlight option is again at 50%/0/0 for the three associated sliders.
    Is there a way to set a default value for the associated sliders for each of these?
    (I had installed Photoshop Elements 5.0 on a trial basis up until yesterday and also have Photoshop Elements 4.0 installed, but it is such a hassle to use, I just gave up on it (and 5.0 has the same issue as 4.0 - no concurrent file browser when editing.))

    Can't help you with Shadows/Highlights, but you do have an option with Brightness/Contrast. Instead of going to Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Brightness/Contrast, go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Brightness/Contrast instead. Once you've established the parameters you want for Brightness and Contrast, you can open up additional pictures and drag-and-drop the adjustment layer onto each new picture, retaining the settings from the first adjustment. This also allows you to quickly tweak the settings on the succeeding pictures, as adjustment layers can be readjusted ad infinitum.
    If only Shadows/Highlights had an adjustment layer option...

  • Set Default Settings in PR Report ME5A

    Dears,
    The requirement is to set the 'Released Requisitions Only' as default in ME5A.  Where it is available in SPRO.
    Thanks,

    Hi
    For ME5A, there is no option for personal settings i.e selection flag for Released PR's only.
    Only option you have is for the particular user creagte a variant for selection criteria.

  • File structure access and default settings issues

    Hello there,
    I have a MBP running 10.6.6
    I noticed that, in the get info window for all my folders and files on the mac, at the bottom it has three users: me, staff, and everyone. And by default it seems to grant all users read rights.
    I have only two users set up on my mac, me and my daughter. My mac does connect to my business network but i have never set up a "staff" user.
    I would like all of my files, anything I create or import or otherwise manage while logged in as me to be viewable only by me.
    Is there a way to set this as a default?
    thank you in advance
    Marc

  • How to set default settings to display record count in multi record block

    Hi All
    Whenever I query my multi record block, I get 1/? as record count at the console in standard Oracle Applications. Is there any setting so that it displays 1/50 (in case total record queried is 50). I don't want to set query all property of block as I don't have any control in standard Apps forms.
    Thanks in advance

    Check out the next_navigation_item option for the get_item_property procedure. If you use this you can do the process without having to navigate from one item to the next.
    You can do something like this (untested) to move and resize the items (other than the first in the block):
    PROCEDURE move_and_resize(p_item IN ITEM, p_width IN PLS_INTEGER) IS
      prev_item ITEM := Get_Item_Property(p_item, PREVIOUS_NAVIGATION_ITEM);
    BEGIN
      Set_Item_Property(p_item, WIDTH, Get_Item_Property(p_item, WIDTH) + p_width);
      Set_Item_Property(p_item, X_POS, Get_Item_Property(prev_item, WIDTH) +
                                       Get_Item_Property(prev_item, X_POS));
    END move_and_resize;
    move_and_resize(myitem, -30);

  • Setting Default Global Settings for Bex Analyzer 7 for all users

    We need to set default settings for Bex Analyzer Global Settings when we install SAP-GUI 7.2 in our user's workstations. The current default settings are that all of them are turned off. We would rather not have to run around and change each of our 1,000 user's settings.

    Just so any one is looking for the correct solution and it worked for me.
    Small correction to the information in the OSS note 1254112.
    for setting the legacy version setting use the below string in the registry
    "LAUNCH_VERSION" = "LEGACY"  insted of "LaunchLegacyVersion"

  • Guided access options

    Can "guided access settings" be used to restrict a device to only one app for research purposes?
    Thanks.

    The Users Guode says:
    Guided Access
    Guided Access helps someone using iPod touch to stay focused on a particular task. Guided Access limits iPod touch to a single app, and lets you control which app features are available. Use Guided Access to:
    Temporarily restrict iPod touch to a particular app
    Disable areas of the screen that aren’t relevant to a task, or areas where an accidental gesture might cause a distraction
    Disable the iPod touch hardware buttons
    Use Guided Access: Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access, where you can:
    Turn Guided Access on or off
    Set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving an active session
    Set whether iPod touch can go to sleep during a session
    Start a Guided Access session: Open the app you want to run, then triple-click the Home button. Adjust settings for the session, then click Start.
    Disable app controls and areas of the app screen: Circle any part of the screen you want to disable. You can use the handles to adjust the area.
    Ignore all screen touches: Turn off Touch.
    Keep iPod touch from switching from portrait to landscape or from responding to any other motions: Turn off Motion.
    End a Guided Access session: Triple-click the Home button and enter the Guided Access passcode.

  • Problem saving Default settings - Need Help

    Hello. New user to this forum.
    I am running BB Desktop Software V. 7.1.0.41 (Bundle 42) on a Windows 7 64 bit "Ultimate" platform. I'm using a "domain" account (from Active Directory) and it has "Enterprise Administrator" rights.
    When I start BB Desktop, I click on "Tools--> Desktop Options," and then I click the "Change" button to change the "Deffault File location" for saving backup files (it defaults to "MY Documents\BlackBerry\Backup"). I change it, save it, and it changes to the new directory location I specify.  I then do my backup and sync operation, and exit the program.
    However, when I restart the program for the next backup and  sync, I find the the location has returned to the default location ("My Documents\BlackBerry\Backup") and not what I changed it to the previous session.  I change it again, and it stays changed but only for the duration of that session, If I exit the program and return to it, it goes back to the default setting...
    Is this the normal behvaior of the program? Are we not allowed to change the default backup location permanently? Or is something else stopping it from changing permanently? Perhaps a Local or domain policy setting (I dion't know if Blackberry Desktop Software is affected by these settings)...
    Any help greately appreciated. It's just a pain to have to change the location every time I enter the program.
    Thanks very much.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Hi All, this is my first post and question.
    I have LR3 running on 2 PC's. I wanted to change a couple of the default settings. On one of the PC's, I made a couple of changes and saved them using, Develop-Set Default Settings. When I restarted LR3, these changes were saved and being used. On the other PC, I did the exact same thing and when I restarted LR3, the changes had not been saved. Any idea why this may have happened?
    Is it possible that you are using a different body with your other PC.  The Develop presets are camera dependant. That's the only thing that I can think of.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Also, I am wondering about watermarks used in LR3. On one of my PC's there is a watermarks called, A Charming Font. On the other PC, in LR3, that is not am option. I really like this watermark. Can I somehow add it to the one that does not have it?
    I believe that you should find the watermark somewhere within the "Application Support (may be called something else on a PC)" folder for Lightroom. Im not sure where that would be on a PC though. Try searching on your OS (ctrl+F) for "A Charming Font."

  • I can not reset factory default settings in photoshop, which will enable the "mini bridge". any ideas???

    I tried uninstall and installing the program. I am taking a class and I need to open the "mini bridge" within the program.  The instructions were to open the program and as it was opening, press cntrl, alt and shift to access the default settings. I did this and the prompt came up asking if I wanted to go to factory default settings, I responded yes. The program continued to open and should have shown the mini bridge tab in lower left c@orner of the application page, nothing shows up. This is my dilema.

    Hi,
    The Mini Bridge panel is no longer available in the most current major version (15.x) of Ps CC aka 2014. You can install the previous major version, Ps CC (14.2.1) by using the Creative Cloud desktop application.

  • Guided Access - ios7

    So I updated my wifes iPad to ios7, no major dramas. However I have found Guided Access doesnt work the same anymore. We use it for our daughter, mainly with ABC iview. When I load the show, then put it into guided access, the show exits out of full screen. I can still here it playing, but no picture. Of course though, the screen is then locked so I cant do anything, so I turn off the guided access, and then try to get back to the show, then the app reboots. Assuming this is ios7 related as it worked fine with the lastest version of ios6 prior.

    I had the same problem, and I solved doing this:
    1 - put the iPad in lost mode with the Find My iPhone App
    2 - Reboot it ( hold home and sleep untill it reboots)
    3 - Unlock it with the passcode you created in the lost mode, and disable Guided Access in the Settings app
    If not working yet, repet the process a few times.
    Good Luck!

    when you try and leave the guided access option you press home 3 times.. it just comes up with the ask options.. if I un-tick the guided access option it says it's left but you can't use anything open the ipad.. it constantly says I need to press home 3 times to close it but it says it's already closed when I do?
    I forced a reboot to get it out, but I really like this feature and would like to know if there's a fix for the bug
