when i add (import) a movie file into itunes it automatically sets its default as 'Home Video'...
how can i make the default 'Movie' so I dont have to go in an change it so it shows as Movie
through my AppleTV?

na i use high quality video and almost high audio in pspware.
unless i do widescreen then i change that option

Why does iTunes keeps resetting itself to default settings randomly??

Downloaded three upgrades so far, and sometimes I turn on my computer to find that iTunes has all default settings, forgotten my library's name and lists.
Upgrading/reinstalling did not solve the issue. It really ****** me off to "reprogram" the iTunes to my liking every other time I open it.
No error messages or windows, no warnings, just freshly new every time.
Anyone experiencing this? What can be done?

Unfortunately, I can't offer any solution because I'm experiencing the same kind of trouble. Please help us! It would be greatly appreciated.

How to change default settings for a video generator?

I'm using a video generator (Lyric Media's Pan Zoom Pro) many times in the same project, and have to change the default settings for each new instance of the generator that I create. I'm wondering if there's any way to change the default settings for a generator (i.e., length of clip, individual slider and checkbox settings in the "controls" tab) so that each new instance automatically has my customized settings when I first open it.

That works for the all the controls/filter settings. The clip length still defaults to 10 seconds, but that's OK, since the main thing I was looking for was to change the clip's internal settings. Thanks for your help

TS1717 restoring default factory settings without itunes as both may have malware

How can I restoring default factory settings without itunes on my ipod 1 and ipod 3rd generation, as both may have malware aswell as 3 laptops, 2 mobile, TV snd BluRay Browser.
any advice will be greatly appreciated.
have tried to disinfect with Kaspersky products but the malware just overwrites everything that is put into the p.c. so I need to use just the pad itself, that is, of course, if it allows me access.

yep, unfortunately can't reset without the passcode either.
With regards to doing a restore, do you mean:
open itunes on my computer
click on my device on the left
go to the device summary
click restore
it then asks if i want to back up before i restore (to which i say no)
then it asks me if i'm sure I want to restore to factory settings and that all of me media and data will be erased and replaced with the newest version ( to which I say yes)
then it takes about 90 mins to do this but when I look at my phone, everything is exactly the same.
Am I missing something? Obviously I'm technologically challenged, but I HAVE to get to the bottom of this!

Tracks ripped in iTunes with default settings cut short on iPods

I have a WIndows PC running XP (which I keep up to date).
I rip CDs I have bought using iTunes with default settings (so creating AAC files). My iPod library is held on a networked storage device.
All tracks play fine in iTunes.
Quite frequently, when I sync the ripped CD to an iPod, one or more tracks will cut short when played on the iPod, usually near the beginning (they generally play for less than 30 seconds).
The tracks always cut off at the same point.
The problem occurs consistently across 3 separate iPods (i.s. same tracks, same point).
I have tried resetting iPods, removing artwork as suggested by some threads etc.
The only way I have found to resolve the problem is to re-rip the CD (or at least the faulty tracks). Usually this fixes it, although sometimes I have had to re-rip more than once.
I have not found similar problem reports (those I have found tend to be people ripping to MP3 format), which seems strange if this is an iTunes bug.
It has occurred to me this might be an issue with the data being written to the storage device which is connected via ether to router.
Any thoughts?

Thanks. Finally unhooked the phone and then tried again. This time it went into recovery and reloaded all as it should have and gave me the "unlocked" message which was what i wanted to see! thanks

ITunes default settings in 7.x

Does anyone know a way to get around some of the settings in the new upgrade? For example, when I would delete a song in my external hard drive and then click on the song, it would lead back to the folder the old song had been in (very useful when putting in a better version). Now it defaults to the "My Music" folder against any defence. Does anyone know why this is now the case? Does anyone have a workaround?

No, you can't change the default settings, but you can set some common
properties for all fields. You can either select them all, and then
right-click one of them and change the options there, or you can use a

Changing default settings for video effect?

I have a ton of interview clips to which I am adding the Timecode effect for transcriptions and translations.
For each clip I increase the size and opacity, remove the field symbol and change Timecode Source to Media. I have hundreds of clips and changing the settings for each clip is a real pain.
Is there any way to change the default settings of the effect so I can just drag the effect to the clips and be done with it?

Set up the timecode effect the way you like it on one clip,
then right-click the clip and select 'Copy'.
Select all of the other clips to which you want to apply the same effect,
right-click and select 'Paste Attributes'.

View Options default settings

I am fairly new to iTunes/iPod. Recently got 80 GB video iPod that I use with Win XP. I want to change the default settings for View Options. I don't want several of the categories that are selected by default and I want to permanently add other categories. I can't find a way to change the default settings. Every time I open my iPod with iTunes, it displays the same set of categories and I have to change the selected categories manually - annoying. Is there a way to change the selected categories in View Options permanently? Nothing about this in iTunes Help.

How to set default ipod for itunes?

I have a computer with 4 ipods registered to it, one dating back 4 years now (orinal style). Since then I had upgraded to the ipod video which after 6 months broke and had to be replaced and am on my second one. In addition to those 3 ipods, my girlfriend now uses my computer and has her ipod registered as well.
I like to use the auto sync technology with the orginal smart playlists and find that ever since I added numerous ipods, I cannot update the smartlists nor have them synced to my ipod.
Is there a way to un register the old ipods that I dont have anymore and set a default ipod? My girlfried doesnt mind manual syncing her ipod each time.

There's no "default" ipod for itunes. It should recognize each one by its unique serial number.
Only one ipod connected at a time, I hope?

There's really no formal "unregister ipod" command, but restoring to factory settings would be the closest.

Is it possible to change the default settings for the slideshow?

The default settings for any new slideshow use the dreaded Ken Burns effect and some awful background music from a standard library. Having to turn these things off for every new slideshow I start is driving me nuts. Perhaps preferring no music accompaniment and a static photo on the screen is for some people rather boring - but I would prefer it, at least as a starting point. Choose "Export" and then the QuickTime option.
It will make a 4 track video with a simple "fade" effect between photos. You can set the dimensions and the duration of your photos. You can also remove the music or add your own from your iTunes Library (no purchased music if you intend to share these movies).

Video playback pauses in iTunes

The video we downloaded from iTunes regularly pauses during playback on our iMac. The sound and video are choppy. Sometimes the video plays and the sound continues; other times both video and sound freeze up momentarily. How do we resolve this? At this point, it doesn't seem worth buying movies from iTunes.

So, what version of iTunes is running on the computer? 7.0.2.16? Also what version of Direct X is installed on the computer?(goto Start> Run> dxdiag)

IPod Video - Display Settings (Title, Artist, Album...)

I am trying to figure out if I can alter my IPod Video display settings. When a song is playing, it shows the album art with the song title, artist, and album adjacent. Is there a away to change this display so that it does not display the album while the song is currently playing?

Regarding the tags, on an MP3 CD iTunes simply burns whatever is embedded in the MP3 file. From your description, it sounds like the Onkyo is seeing the filenames but not the tags, which does seem strange. You may want to try the question in an Onkyo forum.
If you don't need the pre-pended serial number, and don't care about the sequence, you can burn from iTunes as a data CD instead of an MP3 CD.
