HT202675 family sharing invitation lacks answer-buttons on PC

family sharing invitation from Yosemite
the invitation e-mail has got no buttons ('accept' 'decline')
on PC

Hello, turtlefisher.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are not able to accept a invitation to join Family Sharing.  Here are the steps on how to accept an invitation.
Join a family group
You can accept or decline an invitation to join a family from you iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.
In iOS 8, go to Settings > iCloud > Invitations.
In OS X Yosemite, choose Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Manage Family.
If the invitation is sent to your email address, you can also respond right from your email.
To accept an invitation, follow the onscreen instructions. Here's what you'll be asked to do when you join:
Confirm your Apple ID and password.
Choose if you want to share your content and which iTunes Store account you want to share from.
Choose if you want to share your location. If you agree, your location can be displayed on family members’ devices in Find My Friends and Messages, and the location of your shared devices will also appear on family members’ devices in Find My iPhone.
If you can't accept the invitation, see if someone else joined a family with your Apple ID or is sharing purchased content from your Apple ID. Remember, you can only join one family at a time, and you can only switch to a different family group once per year.

You can also have the organizer resend the invitation via the steps below.

    Hello Spiky.saeed,
Based on your post it seems you would like to access Family Sharing via a Windows PC. That is possible, using iCloud for Windows:

  • How do I see the Family sharing invitation on the target device?

How do I see the Family sharing invitation on the target device?  I sent it from my iPhone but I don't see it on my wife's iPhone. Where should she look to see the invitation I sent?

The invitation should show up as a notification on the lock screen. If it's not there, go to Settings > iCloud > Family Sharing and the invite should be there. If it's not, double-check the Apple ID on the other phone and hit "Resend Invitation" on your phone to try again.

  • Can't confirm family sharing invitation

My dad sent me a family sharing invitation, which I received without any problems. Once I click on "view invitation" I get redirected to family sharing settings and get asked to confirm that I'm using the correct iCloud account and to confirm the invitation  But then they ask if I want to share my location and I get two options: either accept or "not now". Either way I get the same message; that I'm already "in the family" and when clicking "ok" the only thing I can do is go back to the start.
Basically i can't confirm that I want to be part of the family. And yeah my dad tried several times to remove the invitation and to invite me again.
What at am I supposed to do?

    Have you found a solution?
    I have the same problem.

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

  • Having problems with family sharing invites

Hi, I send the invite to my son, which appears in his email, but when he views the invite it does not come up with the option to accept or decline and is therefore unable to join?

Set the iTunes login and password and the e-mail addresses on the iPad iCloud setup to the same as the owner of the Family Sharing and iCloud account, which in this case is you.

  • Error message when family member accepts sharing invitation

I am trying to add a family member and he keeps getting this error message when clicking on the 'Accept' button:
'Unable to reply to family sharing invitation. You are already part of this family. Go back to iCloud settings and tap on Family to review your family settings.'
I don't understand, as he is not a family member yet. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? As a side note, he is using an old iTunes email address that was used years ago and associated with a different person; however, I logged into the account and changed the old name associated with the account to the current family member's name. The reason we are using this email is that there are several purchases that were made with this account a while back, so we wanted to incorporate those purchases in the family sharing plan.

Some songs will not download if you have restricted your device from downloading explicit content. This seems to be true even for songs that are not marked "explicit." To remove the restriction, if only temporarily: Settings > General > Restrictions > Music, Podcasts & iTunes U > Explicit (slide dot to left).

  • Family Sharing won't work because I have two separate accounts for iCloud and iTunes

I have two Apple accounts, one that is connected to my iTunes Store purchases, and another for iCloud. I had to do this for reasons related to transitioning from the old MobileMe service to iCloud a few years ago.
So now with Family Sharing, if I use my iTunes account, I can't share calendars or other iCloud type information, and if I use my iCloud account I can't share my music and app purchases.
Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Can I combine everything into a single account somehow?

Under "Setting up Family Sharing" here: https://developer.apple.com/icloud/documentation/family-sharing/ it says:
"You can accept a Family Sharing invitation from any compatible iOS device or Mac where you are signed into iCloud. Or, if the organizer is nearby, they can simply ask you to enter your iCloud Apple ID and password during the setup process. To complete setup, you will also confirm the Apple ID you use for the iTunes, iBooks, and App Stores so you can share your purchases with family members."
This suggests that you can specify a different ID for the iTunes store if you aren't using your iCloud ID for purchasing.

  • Family Sharing - iCloud and iTunes Accounts

So I have have had an apple ID (just a user name) for an eternity.  That has been the main purchasing vehicle over the years, both in iTunes and more recently, the Mac App store.  But I also have an iCloud account (email address) that primarily has served as my iCloud login but a few times have made purchases.
With Family sharing, I want to be able for everoyne to have access to both accounts, but it doesn't seem possible.  My iCloud account drives the setup of family share, and the account is my legacy user name that has been used for 98% of my purchases.  I have not found a way under family sharing to get both added as Apple sees them as being the same regardless of email I use to add, etc.
    Any thoughts?

  • Family Sharing isn't working on my daughter's ipod touch

I setup a Family Sharing account using my apple account as the Organizer.  I invited my daughter to join.  Her iPod touch was still on iOS 7 with 16 GB free (out of 32 GB), so she updated to iOS 8.1.1 after she updated she accepted the Family Sharing invitation and was able to download one song (that was purchased from my account a long time ago).  She tried to download other songs, but kept getting the message
"Unable to Download Song" "song title" could not be downloaded at this time. [Done] [Retry]
The song shows up in her list as though it was downloaded (she doesn't have a cloud with a down arrow) the song says that it's 3:53, but won't play (it basically is grayed out).
Now my daughter is not so happy that she updated to iOS 8, she looked on her iPod and saw that she went from having 16 GB free to only having 2.7 GB free.
Does anyone have any clues on how to fix this?

Sounds like the download may be due to an Apple problem.
    For the storage space:
Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.
What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • Family sharing - option to pay individually?

When using the family sharing feature in iTunes, can an individual choose to purchase their own music?
For example, my wife now gets prompted to enter/confirm my credit card details whenever she tries to pay for her own music, which is not what we want.

Wow... so under this system, my wife is relegated to the same status as my children?
Well, I didn't use the word "relegated," but as you noticed, Family Sharing is designed with one family organizer.  Here is the info from Apple:
To get started, one adult in your household—the family organizer—sets up Family Sharing, invites up to five additional family members, and agrees to pay for any iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases they initiate while part of the family group.
Yes I saw that... but I didn't realise this then prevents the family members from making their own purchases if they wish.
There are many benefits to Family Sharing, besides purchasing content, that I wanted to take advantage of, but the way in which it's modelled on a 1950's "single breadwinner" idea of a family is somewhat unpalatable.

  • Do all the people in family sharing group have to have same last name?

do all the people in family sharing group have to have same last name?

    Hi ant_barry,
Happy New Year!  The Family Sharing program does not require members of the family to share the same name.  Here is some general information for you:
OS X Yosemite: What is Family Sharing?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19007
Family Sharing lets up to six members of your family share their iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store purchases, a family calendar, family reminders list, and family photos, all without sharing accounts.
One adult—the family organizer—sets up Family Sharing, invites up to five people to join the family group, and agrees to pay for any iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store purchases those family members initiate while part of the family group. Once set up, family members get immediate access to each other’s music, movies, TV shows, books, and eligible apps. In addition, family members can easily share photos in a shared family album, add events to a family calendar, share their location with other family members, and even help locate another family member’s missing device.
Each family member needs to have an Apple ID he or she uses for iCloud. For a child too young to create his or her own Apple ID, the family organizer can provide parental consent for a child to have his or her own Apple ID and create it on the child’s behalf while adding the child to the family.
To join a family, you must sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID. You will also be asked to confirm the Apple ID you use for the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store. You can be part of only one family group at a time, and you can switch families at most once per year.
Family Sharing is available on iOS devices with iOS 8 or later, Mac computers with OS X Yosemite (v10.10) or later, and Windows computers with iCloud for Windows 4.0 or later.

  • How do I invite existing iCloud accounts to my Family Sharing account as Children?

My kids have had various iOS devices over the years, and created their own iCloud accounts for backups, email, etc with the introduction of iOS 7 (maybe 6). Family Sharing is a long overdue solution to managing to all the devices in a family.
My question is: How do I invite an existing iCloud account holder into my Family as a Child?
By default, these accounts are imported as Adults. Deleting my kids' accounts and starting over with new accounts is NOT and option, therefore without the ability to flag these existing accounts as "Child", this Family Sharing is a useless feature.
Any insights on how I can invite Child accounts to my Family Sharing Organizer account would be much appreciated.
    ~Rick

If the child is 13 or older, you can. Just set the birthday to 13 years old and it will work just fine.
If the child is under 13, you can't. Apple decided that you didn't need that functionality, just like me and apparently half the planet.

  • Family share invitation with no accept or decline buttons

I have sent a family share invitation to my husband and the invitation he received has no accept or decline button. Why?

Usually, that would mean that he is not running ios 8 or already belongs to other family.
