How do I stop/cancel burning a playlist into multiple Cds half way through?

Although iTunes supposedly has the ability burn a long playlist across multiple audio CDs, in practice the capability is buggy and error-prone, and always has been. Do not even use it. Split the playlist into individual playlists, each comfortably under 80 minutes, and burn them one at a time.

A. iMovie'08 to 11 are not the tools of choice if one aim to do a DVD as they all discard the quality of the picture by discarding every second line in it. NO way around this due to that it happens between Event's and Project's so as soon as it is being edited - Quality is lost.
B. I use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut
C. if iM'08 to 11 is a must - THEN DO NOT - Share to iDVD - BUT - "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (or ev. Medium)
THEN DO - Save as a DiskImage and see that this plays OK and ALL SOUND
D. if added audio from iTunes - then instead in iTunes - Collect all needed Audio into a NEW PlayList then BURN this as an Audio-CD (.aiff - NOT .mp3 or other) - Then use the Files on this CD in Your Movie Project's (I do)
E. I only use .aiff audio - 48kHz 16-bit (miniDV tape Camera) or 44.1kHz Audio CD - NEVER .mp3 or .wma or other file format - ALL is converted first into .aiff - ALWAYS ! - I have very few problem with Audio in my projects in iMovie or FinalCut !

Cancelled back up half way through! help!!

So when i was installing my i cloud , half way through i accidently deleted it! I only have half of my photos on my phone. However when i go into my back up info it shows that it is still there however i cannot update it from my previous version.
is it best to reset my phone and try and re install my previous information?

To start the restore process over, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings (provide the password for your ID if prompted), then go through the setup screens on the phone again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts.
Be sure the phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

About all you can do is wait until it finishes or you get an error message.

Can't hear long notes when played half way through

This is probably a common problem/question.
I often have very long sections with a single continuous chord (in this instance ‘dynamic swell’ ‘extra cello sect legato’ and ‘tonewheel organ’)
My problem is that to check edits on small sections of a composition I have to go right back each time to where the aforementioned chord begins in order for it to be heard. if I put the playhead half way along the chord it doesn’t play. Is there a way that the playhead can pick up on notes half way through? I’m sure this has been dealt with dozens of times on this forum but I could only find one post from 2010 that I couldn't apply to Pro-x. Thanks!

In LPX you need to turn on the Chase functionality
This is done by going to the Project Settings menu (Not Logic's General prefs)
LPX Menu Bar > File > Project Settings > Midi > Chase tab
I have mine set up as thus...
You may not need to or wish to turn on everything I have selected.. Play around and see what works best for you and your own method of working in Logic.
The specific function for playing sustained notes half way through is the first option (Notes and Sustained)
Note: This is a per Project setting and so only applies to that project and not any others.
Therefore...
I suggest you create a new project, set up chase and then save this blank project out as a template you will then choose and open each time you create a new project from now on... You new chase settings (alone with any other settings you wish to use in every new project) will then be setup of each new project you create. For any older projects you need this functionality in... you will have to set up chase for each one and then save.

Spent hours trying everything suggested and finally this morning hit on a solution. iTunes must be run as an administrator. Even though you are logged into your PC as an administrator, using the iTunes shortcut does not make you an administrator in iTunes. I found this out by using the diagnostics in iTunes and reading through the results report.
I am using Windows 7, so I clicked the start button and right clicked on iTunes and selected "Run as an adimistrator". The first restore attempt got the 4013 error. I then did the DFU thing, hold power and home buttons for 10 seconds, release power and continue holding home for 10 more seconds.
iTunes gave me the restore message and I clicked it. I clicked the restore iPhone button and it started. The drivers loaded a couple of times. I got the apple logo with the progress bar and this time instead of disappearing, it started to fill in.
End result, a successful restore to factory settings and a happy 14 year old.

I'm running Lion on a Late 2008 MacBook Air. With no other applications running, I can no longer Check for Software Updates. It gets abut half way through the checking process and then freezes. The MBA passes Disk Utility. Thoughts?

How long do you leave it?
Mine can sometimes sit for quite a while (maybe 10 minutes??) before it finally finishes.
You could look at the relevant logs via Console (Utilities folder) to see if Software Update is complaining about anything.

Try to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. If you can't turn it off, please continue. Press and hold the home button while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

How do you make one long track in itunes into multiple tracks? Is there a way to do that?

I found another solution too through Garageband. I don't know if it was easier, but I liked this way of creating seperate tracks.
First, You put the long track into Garageband.
-then you create a New Basic Track under Track Tab-create as many of those as tracks you want to make
-also make sure the headphones button is lit up under each New Basic Track-this allows it to be a 'solo' track.
-then you can start cutting music-with the long strip find where you want to split into a new track and drag that half down into each New Basic Track.
-Once you are done, press Option Z and a purple little triangle will appear up by the measures. drag the triangle to the end of the first track-this allows it when sharing to itunes to just record the particular track you want, it puts a stop/end to that track.
-then, make sure the track you want to share is highlighted the bright orange and go to share, 'send to itunes'
-it will send that to itunes and you can rename it in itunes.
-Go back to Garageband-delete the first track you successfully shared and move the next one up to where that one was. Slide it accross to the left so it is at the beginning, press option Z and move the purple triangle where you want it to be...and you are good to repeat until all your tracks are done!
I am a very visual person, and this helped to see where I was cutting each track, just another way!

Splitting playlist across multiple CDs

according to the itunes help file, it says that when a playlist is too big to burn onto one CD it splits it across multiple CDs. however whenever it completes part of the playlist and then asks for a blank CD, it begins to burn exactly the same thing that it did on the previous one without going onto the remaining songs. is there something that i've set incorrectly?

Don't trust that feature. Split your big list into separate playlists, making sure that each one is under 80 minutes playing time. Then burn them individually. (I assume it is audio CDs that you are burning.)

ITunes CD Burning stops half way through with unknown error 4251

I have a problem.. Everytime i try to burn a cd from itunes it will get halfway done and cancel the burn and say an "unknown error has occured (4251)". Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

i tried burning a cd. my mac started initializing the immediately went to finishing without burning anything to the disc. i tried doing this through finder. the final message i got was "communication to disc drive failure". should i do a archive and re-install?

Will PE7 burn a long video to multiple DVDs?

I've been working on a project that uses footage from 15 scientific conference presentations, each one lasting about an hour. The conference spanned two days, and I have two sets of footage plus literally thousands of PowerPoint slides to incorporate. I need to have scene markers set up, so the viewer will have a menu from which to select whether to "view all" or skip to a particular scene (speaker). All that is manageable.
While I know that PE7 has the "adjust quality to fit media" option when burning the video to disk, what I'd really like to do is have PE render the files with the highest quality, even if it means that the resulting video will span a number of disks. Otherwise, my DVDs will each contain at least three hours of lower quality video. I know my client will be unhappy with this.
I am separating the entire project into two sections - day one and day two.
My question is, with day one being about six hours of video, is there a way to set up the burn so that it will maintain a higher quality video? While PE can fit several hours of video on one DVD (?), it sacrifices quality to do so. I want the highest quality video possible. Incidentally, what is a reasonable length to fit on one DVD?
Do I need to break the project up into many sub-projects, or can I make the entire first day's video one project and have PE automatically break the burn into several DVDs, including scene markers?
A second question has to do with scene markers. Once I have the entire first days video set up, including scene makers, should I decide to break the project up into two or three sub-projects, is there a way to delete footage including the scene markers? Obviously I can take all the footage AFTER a certain point and delete it and then render that part to disk, but is there a way to delete the footage BEFORE a certain point, including deleting the scene markers? When I tried to do this, the scene markers remained exactly where they were - they were not tied to the actual video.

Jim,
PrE has no way to "span" multiple DVD-Videos. It also balks at really long Timelines. My advice would be to assemble your footage into Projects, each one for one disc, so you can keep the quality high.
If you already have everything in one Timeline, I'd then trim each to equal one disc, do a Save_As (Conference_Disk_01, _02, etc.) for each trimmed Project. Do the navigation for each disc, and then burn. Personally, I'd include Titles at the beginning and the end, to alert the user that they have, say Disc 1 of 6, and also "Insert Disc 2 now." That sort of thing.
PrPro has a few more capabilities, such as separate Sequences (think mini-Projects inside of a master Project), but I do the multiple disc sets the same way. Each Sequence (or groups of Sequences) is a separate disc, and is Exported for Import into Encore (my authoring program) and each disc is burned at the highest quality that will fit. Just finished a 17 disc Project, and it was handled the same way. Each Sequence was titled with the disc # and the placement on that disc, so I knew what went where. Had about 80 separate Sequences, but it was easy to know which ones went into which DVD/Encore Project. I also had the Disc X of Y on both the front of each disc, plus on the case for it. That way, the user knew where they were in the order, and could get the disc back in that order. You can do the same thing in PrE, but will be using Projects for each disc. A bit of planning will go a very long way in the production.
Good luck, and let us know if you have any more questions. BTW - for acceptable quality, I'd set a limit of 2 hours for any duration, with maybe 150 mins. as the absolute max. I've "stuffed" 3 hours on a DVD-5, but it is NOT a pretty sight. Can you go with DVD-9's?
