How can I reset the original administrator account password without the disk.
I just moved homes and can't find disk. Pls, help.

Backup before you begin just in case.
Boot holding cmd+R. Recovery mode should startup (assuming you have a recovery partition).
Select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
    Enter the word…
    resetpassword
    … & hit return.
The GUI app will open, select the main boot HD.
Select the admin user account in the popup menu.
Change & save the new password.
    Quit ResetPassword from the menu,
    Quit Terminal
    Reboot
    NOTE:
The keychain is setup to use the user login password to unlock when you login. It will now be inaccessible without the old password. You should be prompted to create a new one via a dialog, if not manually create a new login keychain in Keychain Access & set it as 'default'. Backup the old keychain if you are ever likely to remember the old password, or delete it since these passwords are inaccessible without the correct password.

  • Resetting the original administrator account password

    Hi All
Is there a way to Reset the original administrator account password if I do not have any install media (IE: No Leopard Install DVD).
I bought a Mac Mini and cannot get hold of the seller to get the password and I have no DVD to boot from.
    Thanks
    Garry

V.K. is exactly right; if the seller advertised this Mac as including Leopard, and then gave you no install disc, then you were defrauded. Contact him and ask for the disc, or ask him to refund some of the money so you can obtain a new set.
An additional thing to consider: When acquiring a used Mac, there's no telling what sort of hacks, security holes, pirated software, password sniffers, or other even riskier junk that may have been left on it by any previous users. A complete reformat and reinstall from the original install discs is the only prudent thing to do with a used Mac. I don't even hook a used Mac up to the internet until after a fresh reformat and reinstall. Anything less is a Very High Security Risk™.
+1 on all of that. I would never even consider running a second hand mac without doing an erase and install.

  • Deleted the original administrator now having problems.

My sister and I switched our Macbooks last week now I am receiving errors when I try to download programs and she is having trouble opening such programs as iPhoto and iTunes and it wouldn't allow me to reinstall these programs either. I feel like the computers are not happy about the original administrator account being deleted but how do I remedy this problem and get each account to be treated like the main administrator on the account?

Try the following: Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings & Reset Network Settings
This deletes all of your preference settings, returning them to the defaults. It will not erase any of your data or apps.
The Reset Network Settings will forget your Wi-Fi connection and password
Also it would be important to know if your are using SMS or iMessage when texting and/or sending Pictures.
    Hope this helps.

  • Deleted original administrator account

I have deleted the original administrator account (oops, won't do that again). I have an administrator account but it doesn't have full privileges (e.g. I can't change Automatic login or enable the Guest account). When I hover over those commands the tip reads "You cannot enable automatic login because it's disabled by your system administrator."
How can I grant System Administrator status to my current administrator account?
    ~Alex

I've logged in as root (Accounts shows me as the System Administrator). The padlock is open. But I don't seem to have full control:
    - As root I can add standard and admin users, and can change them from one to the other. But I can't change one particular user ('admin') to standard, and I can't control the 'Allow guests to log in' checkbox.
    - As the user 'admin' I can add and modify new accounts, but not change the user's own account to standard or control guest logins.
    - A new admin user can control itself but not 'admin' or guest access.
It seems as if the original user account is somehow blessed, and by deleting that account I've scrambled things. The account 'admin' is now semi-blessed, and can't be changed but doesn't have full control. Or am I off base here?

I did a a factory reset to my I phone 4G but it ask for the original owner account but I don't know the original owner, how can I activate my device?

Unfortunately, you can't.  There's no way around it.  You'll have to get the ID and password used to originally activate the phone or you will not be able to activate it again.  If you can't contact them, try to get your money back because you won't be able to use it.

  • Can I disable (or remove) the "migration administrator" account?

I installed a SBS 2011 server about two years ago - and migrated from an old SBS 2003 server.
In the process of migration, a "migration administrator" account was created.  Now, I see it in my list of users and was wondering if I missed a step somewhere that should have deleted (or disabled) this account.
    Is it safe to disable?

Its always a good practice to Disable a NON required account. You can read the description of the user account "If Any" . If its an account that is apart from BuiltInAdministrator, go ahead and delete or disable.
Normally in SBS 2008 and SBS 2011 Domain "Administrator" account as it is disabled by default. This is for security reasons as the most common account for hackers to use when launching an attack on your server is the default administrator account
name. If you need the "Administrator" account for some reason, though I don't recommend using it, it is in AD under the Uses OU not the MyBusiness\Users\SBSUsers OU. You will need to enable it, and assign a password.

  • Delected original administrator account

Hi, I need help for my Macbook Pro.
I created a new administrator account and then deleted my original administrator account (the first account "administrator" that I setup the computer with). I want return to my original administrator account because the new one has less priviledges (for example: the parental controls is not work) What Can I do?
    Thanks.

It's not really possible to restore an account after it has been deleted. The best you can do is create a new account and restore the contents of the original account from a backup.
Exactly what problems with "less privileges" are you having? When you say that Parental Controls are not working, exactly what is happening when you try and set them?

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.
