Hi there.
Since my situation is very similar, rather than start a new thread, I wonder if I could jump on this one for some clarification & to see if I'm okay to proceed with the Tiger instructions you posted.
I'm running 10.4.11 on a 17" Titanium PowerBook G4. I have a .mac e-mail address & I'm using Apple Mail.
I migrated to iCloud several weeks ago & everything's been fine but I haven't been able to get any e-mail through all weekend.
I logged in to iCloud a short while ago & everything seems fine.
So could I ask whether the procedure you linked to works for .mac addresses as well as .me addresses?
Also, can I assume that the messages that are still sitting in my inbox will still be there after I remove the existing account & create the new one, (seeing as they're synchronised with the inbox online), whilst the complex hierarchy of folders I've created locally in the mail client will remain untouched?

We have 2 itouchs, we a separate itunes account for each one. We have one home computer to use them both on for syc and icloud, the icloud will not accept the 2 accounts?

Do you know what happens if you delete the icloud account from an iphone 4s? Will it delete the pictures, documents, etc. from the phone, or just unlink the icloud from the phone? I want to associate a different icloud account to the phone.

More wierd icloud issues: I have just set up an icloud account for my wife. The name, email and password work on the ipad and in the browser mail site. But they do not work on the computer itself. It returns a message saying that the name or password are wrong. I have gone back and confirmed the correctness of the email and name and password on the browser and the ipad. But the computer will not accept it.
The computer is a 1st generation air running Lion.

In Mail Accounts, check the under the 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) for your account and make sure the Authentication is set to Password and that your username and password are the same as your incoming mail.

Iphone will not accept my gmail password

My phone and my mail was working fine until about 3am yesterday. Now it suddenly says my name and password are wrong. imap.gmail.com- says it is incorrect.
1) I try to enter the password again, it still says it is wrong.
2) I went on my computer to use gmail- it lets me in using my password.
3) I updated the software to 5IOS, thinking there was a glitch-the phone was restored in the proceess. After the update, it still does not accept my password.
4) I changed my password on my computer. Iphone still does not accept the new password.
5) I deleted the account, then put it back in with the password, says it will not accept it- so now I have no email account on my phone.
6) I turned off the phone and turned it on again.
None of these things worked, clearly. What am I doing wrong and why did my iphone suddenly decide it did not like my password?

Apple mail will not connect to gmail (POP)

Hello,
For a week or so, Mail just will not connect to Gmail. Macbook Pro, Lepoard 5.8.
I tried deleting all accounts and creating them again but I get a message saying that the server is not answering.
This happened suddenly and Mail had been working fine for years... No changes in the Mac, no new software...No known general problem with Gmail. Gmail parameters set to POP as I'm using this instead of IMAP...
So right now All accounts have been deleted and I cannot re-connect....
Latest: even my Yahoo accounts do not work any more now.
Perhaps I should remove Mail and re-install it again ?
If so, how the h..k do I go about it as I'm no computer expert !
Please try not to be too technical as I'm french and do not really master PC language that well ...

This issue that you are experiencing sounds like two-step verification is enabled on your Gmail account. I would recommend selecting the Gmail Help Center link and search for two-step verification in the link below.

Mail app not connecting to gmail account

So I have 2 gmail accounts where our company domain uses gmail for its email service. Mail was working fine on both the accounts till last week.
I had configured both the gmail accounts very easily by just selecting Google on the Mail App on my Macbook Air 7 months back. I just added my email id and my password and the Mail App automatically configured both my accounts.
Last week one of the gmail accounts stopped updating on the Mail app on the Macbook. I was recieving mails on my iPad and iPhone so I knew there was something wrong. The second gmail account was working just fine. I tried various things but that account refused to work. So I deleted that account and tried adding that account back. I could not add that gmail account this time round and kept giving me an invalid username password error or some account not valid error. I go to the online version of Gmail and login with exactly the same information.
Then to probe more I delete the working gmail account and try to add it again. That account also does not seem to be adding now. Same error as the first account. So now I cannot access both my gmail accounts on the mail client.
I just realized that I updated to OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 on 28th Feb and am pretty sure that all this has happened immediately after that.
Anybody else with similar issues? Any ideas on what I should be doing?

Welcome to the Apple community.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Mail is not singing in gmail account.

I am using asha 309. I am trying to add gmail account in mail but when i tried message appears saying 'mail couldn't signing in please try again'. I have tried for many times but same message appears. What is the problem?
But mail can sign in my yahoo account.

Regarding your concern, may I know how are you trying to set up the email on the phone? Are you trying to access it through Menu > Mail > Add an account > Gmail? If yes, you can try to use "other" instead then manually add the email settings needed. What is the connection that you are using when doing this? If you are using the mobile data connection, try to switch it to Wi-Fi then try to set up the email again. Were you able to login to another phone with the same email? If not, try to check the setting of your email through their Web Based page. Keep us updated on what will be the outcome after doing these things.

HT1430 iPad suddenly will not recognize my gmail account but 2 other devices do . It keeps telling me I have wrong password. I know it is correct. It quit working after an iOS upday

My iPad suddenly quit recognizing my gmail account. When I enter password I get message that it not correct. I tested password on two other devices and it correct. It also did same thing on wife's account but then corrected that today I don't know how. How can I get around this. It has worked for 3 years. Local Apple guy says it has to be Google but my mail works on a Kindle, Acer computer and Samsung phone so it must be an Apple issue. What can I do?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Mail does not work with gmail accounts anymore

Since yesterday or so, my google mail accounts don't connect anymore. All of them. All other accounts are still working.
- Connection doctor tells me the standard "couldn't connect, check if its really port 993 blah" thing.
- I'm on 10.9.5
- I tried remove one of the accounts under Internet Accounts and "re install" it, which worked partially: Internet Accounts accepted the google password, and added the account. I ticket Emails. It reappeared in Mail, but still with connection issues (and now no emails what-so-ever associated with that account).
What can I do next?

Have you checked your incoming and outgoing mail server settings?
If you are using IMAP, it should look something like the following:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Requires SSL:Yes
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires TLS
smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465 or 587
Requires SSL: Yes
Requires authentication: Yes
Use same settings as incoming mail server
If you are using POP3, it should look something like the following:
Incoming mail server type: POP3
Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: pop.gmail.com. Google Apps users, enter the server name provided, don't add your domain name in these steps.
Port: 995
Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Outgoing server requires authentication: enabled

Mozilla Help Will Not accept 2nd login account

does Bugzilla require a separate account. When to try my second account and it claimed there was no such account.

That answers the Bugzilla part of the question. But it still doesn't answer the question why I have to have a second account here (different name, password and e-mail address) because when Mozilla sent a notice to reset the password on the first account, the new password was not accepted and "error" messages came up indicating there was already an account with the account name and e-mail.

Occasionally MAIL will not retrieve my Gmail

If I do not get any mail for a day on my mac mini, I log into Gmail on their server. The mail is there. This happens maybe once every week or two. I am not changing any settings on either Gmail or my SnowLeopard mail. I tried clicking on "Get Mail" and I can't force it to retrieve the mail. I tried using mail connection doctor and it said "connection and login to server succeeded".

It is a POP account. Actually it is working now. All I changed was a setting in gmail that asked wither you wanted to keep the message on the gmail server after downloading or not. For some strange reason it did not want to delete the old messages from its server, strange.
