Numbers running on Mavericks, does it support arabic?

Yes, to some extent.  But you cannot reverse the direction of spreadsheet columns.

  • Does Java support Arabic?

    Hi,
I am in the process of establishing a financial web application. The application needs to be bilingual, i.e English and Arabic. My Question is: Does Java support Arabic? and which DB can i use with it to facilitate my need?
    Thanks,
    Maha

I18N web application is an application that can deliver the content according to the locale of the browser. We can build these applications easily by using the tags available as part of JSTL's.
Check whether Arabic language is supported by java or not.
    request.getLocale() returns java.util.locale object.
This object contains the details of language code & country code.
    Try out

  • Why Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 does not support Arabic and persian?

Why Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 does not support Arabic and persian

For Arabic/Persian on  a Mac, the best app is Mellel.  But TextEdit, Nisus Writer, or OpenOffice should also work OK.

  • Does Numbers support Excel functions CELL, SUBSTITUTE, and REDIRECT?

Been trying to find the list of Excel-compatible functions but did not succeed. I would like to use Numbers to edit my Excel files in iPad. I often generate reports by pulling data out from a seperate sheet using Excel functions like CELL, SUBSTITUTE, and REDIRECT. I have not purchased Numbers yet, that is why I would like to know where I find the complete list of Excel-compatible functions or at least know if Numbers support these functions.  Thank you in advance.

Numbers does support the function substitute()
I did not see the functions cell() and redirect() in the function browser.
There is afree function reference here:

    which you can use

  • WE8MSWIN1252 Does it supports Arabic?

    Hi All,
One of the strange facts which we saw recently was a 8i database running with WE8MSWIN1252 supporting Arabic characters successfully. Users were happy with the data representation in Forms 6i too. Though we have 100's of threads which says AR8ISO.. or AR8MSWIN... are the character sets which supports Arabic apart from UTF8. We were surprised to see how WE8MSWIN1252 was supporting Arabic characters. We came across a thread which said that it might be possible to have Arabic data stored with WE8MSWIN1252. Please refer to the following Link.
DB Migration from WE8MSWIN1252  TO AR8MSWIN1256  is it possible ???
Real Problem occured when we were asked to upgrade the DB to 10g. The problem started when we exported the dump from 8i and imported the same dump in a 10g i.e 10.2.0.1.0. database with same character set i.e WE8MSWIN1252. In 10g all arabic characters were showing as junk or inverted question mark when queried from db or while querying from forms application.
So we are planning to do the steps.
    @ LIVE DB
    1) Take a export of the existing dump from production 8i - 8.1.7.0
    @ Test DB
    1) Change the character set of DB to AR8MSWIN1256.
    2) Import the Dump in Test DB
    3) Check the data in back end and front end for its correctness.
    4) If that works fine import that dump into 10g database with AR8MSWIN1256 character set
Will this work or if not please advice us for a right solution.
    Thanks in advance.

As suggested by S. Wolicki in the mentioned thread I think you should first fix data in your current database in the current Oracle version and work with Oracle Support if needed to solve this case before doing any upgrade or export/import:
    >
Now, to the solution. First, the database must be verified to contain data only in one charater set. That is, either all applications understand all data as WE8MSWIN1252 or all applications understand all data as AR8MSWIN12526. If some columns (or rows) contain data visible in applications as one character set and some other columns (or rows) contain data visible as another character set, such database cannot be easily migrated. Data must first be spooled to text files, separated as required and loaded back to a new database, usually in AL32UTF8 to cover all required languages/scripts. Both the verification and such special migrations are manual tasks.
Assuming the data in the database is consistent in respect to how it is visible to applications, the solution is to update the database character set declaration to the real one corresponding to the data. This should happen without actually touching any character codes. You need to contact Oracle Support to provide you with the correct procedure that uses an undocumented statement. (I guess you will find this statement in Google, but then you use it at your own risk!) Oracle Support should verify that the procedure will not corrupt your data.

  • HT4637 Hi, does it support Arabic language; text and numerals?

I have just purchased a macbook pro, first time to switch from a PC. I am really impressed wirh the overall experience of my new powerhouse with one MAJOR drawback; the Arabic Text and numeral support within the microsoft office package of applicatIons. I tried the openoffice package, and althought it partially solved the problem, yet I still suffer from compatability issues, be it with old microsoft office files that I already have or even newly created ones. So i figured maybe I should turn to Apple's native software packages, since I know that the laptop itself supports Arabic, so then maybe the problem would be inherant to the microsoft for Mac. Can anyone help me whether this assumption is true or not, and which spread sheet and text editor software should I choose to have full and compatible support for Arabic text and numerals typing. Thx

No version of MS Word for OS X has ever supported Arabic.
Unfortunately Apple's iWork apps also have bugs that make them unsuitable for Arabic for most people.
The best text editor is Mellel, but TextEdit, Nisus Writer, and OpenOffice normally work OK.
As for compatibility with Windows stuff, perfection sometimes just not possible, and if you really need that, you may need to run Windows on your Mac.

    The specifications stae that it supports;

    * Keyboard support for English (U.S.), English (UK), French (France, Canada), German, Japanese (QWERTY), Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, Italian, Simplified Chinese (Handwriting and Pinyin), Russian

I would imagine more would come in due course as it is released in different regions of the world.

  • Does Numbers support importing dynamic XML web data into spreadshit?

I am trying to find a similar functionality that I've been using in MS Excel (Windows platform). In excel, I am able to import an xml (residing in the cloud) into a sheet and work on data and update the base data whenever I request.
Is there a similar feature in Numbers, or in Mac OS where I can work with XML data residing in the web.
Note: Although Windows version of Excel supports this, Mac version does not. Is this some kind of OS limitation?
    Thanks,

In Numbers '09 there is the function HYPERLINK() described as:
    HYPERLINK
The HYPERLINK function creates a clickable link that opens a webpage or new email message.
    HYPERLINK(url, link-text)
    • url:  A standard universal resource locator. url is a string value that should contain a properly formatted universal resource locator string.
    • link-text:  An optional value that specifies the text that appears as a clickable link in the cell. link-text is a string value. If omitted, url is used as the link-text.
    Examples
=HYPERLINK(“http://www.apple.com”, “Apple”) creates a link with the text Apple that opens the default web browser to the Apple homepage.
=HYPERLINK(“mailto:[email protected]?subject=Quote Request”, “Get Quote”) creates a link with the text Get Quote that opens the default email application and addresses a new message to [email protected] with the subject line Quote Request.
It's what is the closest feature available.

  • HT202879 does numbers for mac have a mail merge feature

Will numbers for mac offer a mail merge feature?

    Nicole Lynn,
Version 2 of Numbers (iWork '09) does have Mail Merge. If your profile is correct, that's probably what you are using. The instructions for using the feature are in the Pages User Guide PDF.
If your profile is out of date and you are using iWork '13 apps, you're out of luck. But, you can always go back to Version 2 of Numbers and Version 4 of Pages.

I would like to buy (Pages) but unfotunately it does not support Arabic language

Use a different app like everyone else does.  Mellel is best, but TextEdit, Nisus Writer, Open/Neo/LibreOffice should also work.  MS Word for Mac does not.
