HT203025 Do not get Ask to buy notification

I recently set up Family Sharing and do not get ask to buy notifications from my granddaughter. Any help is greatly appreciated. For background using iOS 8.2. A iPad air 2 and iPad mini. I logged out of accounts on both iPads and back in to no avail. I've also powered down and back up, turned ask to buy off then back on,

Having a similar issue.
My daughter buys an app, gets the prompt to ask permission (which she does) and then nothing happens.
I am the "organizer" so there is no option on my iPhone to be a parent although I read the "organizer" is automatically defined as a parent so theoretically I should receive a notification to approve the purchase. I never get anything.
Someone said to turn on Notifications for "Family" but I don't see any Family listed under the Notifications setup screen.
Not sure why Apple makes this so difficult on top of being so buggy.
Anyone else have this issue with a workaround?

Not receiving request to buy notifications

my son submits a request to buy on his iPod touch and I never receive the notification on my iMac. However if my daughter submits a request to buy on her iPod touch I receive her notifications almost instantly.

I am having the same problem with one of my kids but not the other one.
The kid that I am not receiving 'ask to buy' notifications has a credit card on their id and an iTunes credit.
I am still trying to work out how to remove the credit card off the kids apple id but even so, does anyone know if they have a credit on their apple id should the organise still get an 'ask to buy' notification?
Otherwise how do I ensure (i.e. control) her purchasing 'age appropriate' apps etc

What OS are you running.. this is usually only a problem in Mavericks.
If so I recommend you mount the hard disk manually..
Use Go, Connect to server.
Type in the IP address if static.. eg
AFP://10.0.1.1
Or the name.. but you will have issues unless the name is short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. if you are using bad names.. fix it by a full factory reset in airport utility and give it all names that comply to the above.
Type in
AFP://TCname.local Where TCname is replaced with the actual name.
You will be asked for the password the first time which is public unless you changed it.. please remember to save this in the keychain.
Copy files then to a new directory you create on the TC.. do not place files inside the TM sparsebundle. Nor directly under the main directory.

When my son requests to get an app, I get the notice on my phone, but I'm not always able to get right to it, and after half a minute or so, the notice goes off my screen. Where does it go? Where can I find it? Can I still bring it up later to approve?

(B) Make sure Side Switch is set to "Lock Rotation" and make sure sound is not muted in Control Center (little bell)

Will the family member get some type of notification after I approve a purchase?

I Had a similar problem when I set it up and it sorted itself out after I had restarted all the devices. Also I think I logged out of iCloud and back in on all devices too.

Not getting Facebook (and other) notifications unless connected to wi-fi

About two weeks ago I stopped getting notifications unless I'm connected to wifi. I get calls, texts and emails fine, but nothing else.
It's highly annoying walking in the house, having my wifi turn on automatically and suddenly getting a dozen or so notifications, let alone not knowing that I have messages when traveling.
I have mobile data turned on. I really don't know what is causing this.
I'm using a Droid 4, and have never had any problems in the year and a half I've had the phone.
Anyone have any ideas besides going back to factory settings and starting over?

Have you changed settings to conserve data, like turning off background updates for apps, only update over wifi, only sync over wifi?
You may have automatic updates to apps and other notifications turned off unless you are connected to wifi. If you DO enable the automatic updates, you may see a jump in your data usage.
Check the app settings for those apps you want to receive automatic notifications and updates for; other than that, I don't know why things would have changed two weeks ago - an app or device software update?

Set up Family Sharing, but I'm not getting asked to approve

I set up iOS8 on my new iPhone 6 and my kids' 5th gen iPod Touches. I set up Family sharing and gave both the kids their own accounts.
When they want to buy an app they get a message for them to sign into the iTunes store. Then I get a message "Payment Verification Required" with "Your family organizer must enter the security code for their payment method." Then it goes to Account Settings for me to enter in my code.
I thought I was supposed to get a message to OK it or not on my iPhone?
Assuming I've set up something wrong. But what?

Was on with AppleCare phone rep. They looked into this for 30 minutes and came up with no answer.
I'm surprised more people have not written that they are having the same issue.

IOS 8 Family Sharing "Ask to Buy" not working

If it's not one thing with iOS 8, it's another. I have a iPhone 6, iPad Air, and a child's iPhone 5. I'm setup under my iCloud account as the "Organizer" on the iPad Air and iPhone 6, he is setup as a child, with "Ask to Buy" turned on, on the iPhone 5. When he tries to make an app purchase on the iPhone 5, it says that permission must be granted, with a pop-up notification, and then you can select "Ask." Problem is, I never receive the request on either the iPhone 6 or iPad Air, so I cannot grant permission.
Any solutions?

There sticky point appears to be related to what why call the "original" iCloud account vs. a newer iCloud account. In other words only the first iCloud account used to make purchases appears to work with "Ask to buy" feature. In my case I had a very old apple id (@mac, then @me, then @icloud) and after purchasing iPhones for all family members I created a new apple id for me (private backups between my devices). Each of my family members now have their own apple id's. Well, my fairly new apple id (which has payment methods for iTunes/appstore) does not work with "ask to buy" feature. Only the original apple id does. I can't understand why. As an experiment I added the original apple id as a family member in Family share, and set as parent/guardian. That did the trick in terms of receiving ask to buy notifications, but it will remove the ability for me to see shared purchases because there's two" apple ID's set under family sharing.
If somebody figures out how to fix this, please let me know.

I just upgraded to ios5 how do i remove message preview? and also my notifications are on and im not getting them in notificiation center although i have messages on facebook etc my phone isnt showing them

please help i dont know how to turn off message preview with new update also i just restored my iphone cause my notifications are on but im not getting them in my notification center even tho i have them when i manually go into app and check them,

Settings > Notifications > Messages > Show Preview > Off.
Have you checked your notification selections for each app at Settings > Notifications?

What am I missing with Ask to Buy?

I set up Family Sharing on all my family's devices, but now that I'm using it, I fail to see the point of Ask to Buy. Whenever my son tries to make a purchase on his iPod, he is asked to enter the iTunes account password before the Ask to Buy notification pops up. Which means he has to come to me to have the password entered, tap "Ask", then I have to approve the purchase.
It seems like the only thing it did was add in an extra "Ask" step, as before I was already doing the "enter password" step for whatever he wanted to get.
What benefit am I not seeing here?

Maybe you should familiarise yourself with how Forms works before leaping in to the complicated stuff. Build a module with one tabular base table block using the Data Block Wizard and the Layout Wizard. Give it a WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger that does
execute_query;When you've got that working, change the trigger to
enter_query;Now your Form starts in QUERY mode and you can use Query By Example to selectively retrieve data.

I can not enable ask to buy for my son. It says he is sharing purchases from an account also used by another family member, but it's just the two of us at this point.

I had the same problem and found the solution posted by sdalberg.
I apparently erred by trying to add him to Family Share before I had his own iCloud account completely set up.
On your iOS device, go to your iCloud settings and click on the family member you are having problems with. Click on "Remove." You will get some warning messages and then emails saying that he has left the family. Then go back to the family menu and "Add Family Member..." and add him again. You will be asked to decide whether you want "Ask To Buy" enabled and turn it on. Once you finish setting it up, "Ask To Buy" should be enabled.

Ask to buy and gift card

How do I get ask to buy to disable when my child has a gift card balance? I need it to automatically turn on when he's accessing my credit card.

There's currently not a way for the app store to not ask for a password when there is gift card balance and then start asking for the password again when the gift card balance has been exhausted. If this is a feature you would like, send feedback to Apple.
