HT203055 I can't sign in or out of iCloud.  Forgot the password to an email address I no longer have access to.  What next.

I can't sign in or out of iCloud.  Forgot the password to an email address I no longer have access to.  What next?  From what I'm reading in the forums, once the email address is set up it cannot be changed.  True?  If so, um, stupid.
Message to log in to iCloud every time I reply or forward an email.  Have to indicate to ignore every time.  Annoying.

Hello florabb,
You may be able to change or reset the password on this old iCloud/Apple ID account, even if you no longer have access to the email address associated with it. Once the password is changed/updated, you should be able to log your iPhone out of the old iCloud/Apple ID account and log in to the correct new account. You may find the information and steps outlined in the following articles helpful:
If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Sincerely,
- Brenden

If you have older versions of excel and word that previously ran under the Rosetta emulator (allows PowerPC code to run on Intel system), they will no longer work with Lion.
You can use the Apple programs Pages and Numbers to access the files. They can be bought and downloaded from the App store. NeoOffice is available at http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php which has Lion support. OpenOffice doesn't talk to Lion support, it's at http://www.openoffice.org/

  • I want to sign out of current apple id and into another one but I no longer have access to my current email address so I cannot log out

I want to sign out of current apple id and into another one that I own but I no longer have access to my current email address so I cannot log out (It is with an internet provider who I have just unsubscribed with)  This is on an iPhone 5S, on iOS 8.1.

That email address is still a valid Apple ID. If you do not remember the passcode, sign onto Manage your Apple ID (Apple - My Apple ID) with that email address, and then click on Reset Password. You will be asked to answer your Security Questions in order to reset the password. If you do not remember the answers to your Security Questions, contact Apple Support to reset them for you:

  • I'm trying to change my apple ID on iPad but won't let me until I give the old password to old ID. I no longer have access to the old email so I can't even change the old password.

I need to change my old Apple ID to my new. I don't know the password to the old ID and no longer have access to this email. Is there an easy way around this?

I'm with JC4567, I have my old email turn up when going into my iCloud settings. It won't let me change the email to my new one (this new email and password are already updated on my PC. Why can't it just automatically update all other devices with it???), it's grey'ed out so I can't click and edit. I read somewhere that if we delete (older ios) or log off (newer ios) iCloud in the Settings then we can log in with the new AppleID and password. When I tried that it brought up my old AppleID and demanded my old password to my to turn off the "Find My iPhone" part in the iCloud. So I couldn't delete/log out of iCloud without turning off Fimd My iPhone. Catch 22. How do we fix that?

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • I am trying to sync 2 different itune accounts into one. The first one is so old I no longer have access to the email. When I just sync'd I only got 6 songs. How can I get the songs on my Ipod on this deskop?

I am trying to sync my ipod info from my laptop to my desktop. When I did the transfer only 6 songs came through. How can I sync all my accounts. One email address is so old I no longer have access to it. Help???

It appears that something happened to yur computer/iTunes files.  It happens sometimes.  To recovery:
    - Import the old music into the current iTunes library
    - Make sure all the apps are also in the library
    - If in the USA and therplaces where iCloud has benn released you can redownload most iTunes puchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - You can always redownload apps at no additional cost as long as you are singned into the same iTunes account the originally purchased them.
    - After all the suff in in the iTunes library, make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes.
    - Restore the iPod from backup and restore as necessary.

  • Have an iTunes account w/email addr I no longer have access to... how in the world can i combine that with my new Apple account

I have had an iPod Nano for several years and had an iTunes account.  I no longer have access to the email address connected to that account.  I just bought an iPhone4s and set up a new account with my current email address as user id.  How can i get these 2 accounts combined so I can sync music from my iPod to my iPhone?

You cannot combine accounts at all.
Why did you create a new one?
Just change the e-mail address associated with the old one.

Having the exact problem from my iPad, iPod and laptop... No way into my account!!! No clue what's going on jut wrote to apple support let's see what they come up with for a solution.

  • Contacts disappeared, Can't sign in or out of iCloud

I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and there are two problems:
    1)  My Contacts are all gone.  Totally blank Contacts.  However, when I use Mail, it's clearly still accessing my address book, as my contacts auto-fill when I type (although when I try to go to the Address Book option in Mail nothing shows up).  I tried trashing the Addressbook database from the Library/Application Support.
    2)  I cannot connect to iCloud (or disconnect).  When I go to System Preferences, and select iCloud, and enter my password, nothing happens - just a long time of spinning.  All the options are greyed out - I can't uncheck Contacts or other options (when I first open iCloud, those options are available for a nano-second, but before I can click they grey out, and I just have the option of signing in (nothing happens), and when I try to sign out, I get asked "do I want to keep my contacts on iCloud"?  And the options are "Delete from Mac" and "Keep Contacts" and neither one does anything - same options pop up again.  Stuck in a loop.
    PLEASE HELP!

    Thanks sdpitbull..
So meanwhile I've connected my addressbook to my gmail account so I could restore (sync) my contacts that way for now.  (Although my groups were lost..somehow that didn't transfer).
But still couldn't sign in to icloud on my Mac...finally did try to sign in at icloud.com, and that worked.  Rebooted again, and this time I was able to sign in on my Mac!
Had to then set up iCloud email on Mail, then everything else seemed to work.  Still mystified as to where my Contacts went, but fortunately I had exported to Gmail two months ago, so didn't lose much.
And now i have to stop syncing to Gmail contacts if iCloud is to work, but at least it's there.
Next task is to get BusyCal up and working!
