HT203164 Artist & Song Title Missing Despite Using I-Tunes

I have purchased music from I-Tunes on my work desktop, burned a CD, taken the disc home and placed it in my home desktop and when I-Tunes opens it won't recognize the song titles or artists even though they were purchased thru I-Tunes.  Any have a cure?

Audio CDs don't embed that artist & song details on the disc. Even if CD Text is enabled on burning I don't know of any ripping software that reads the data and applies it to the files. If you want to move songs between computers burn a data disk, use a memory stick, or use a portable hard drive.

  • Why are my artist and song titles abbreviated after using iTunes?

Hello, this is my first post. I looked for a similar question but did not find one.
I was given an iPod Shuffle (3rd generation), and as soon as I put my music files on itunes and sync my Shuffle, I get abbreviated song/artist titles. For example: Beatles - Let it Be becomes "XFVK".
I had to manually go into each file on my Shuffle and reenter everything to how it should be. I can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue. Is this a matter of a setting in itunes, or is it just how the shuffle works?

I'm surprised that no one has responded to this one. I'm just asking if the abbreviated song titles that occur once the songs have gone through itunes is avoidable, or if that's how everyone has them.
Thank you, any input would be greatly appreciated.
Once again, the best way I can explain the symptom is:
White Stripes - The Denial Twist becomes CFQD
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombone becomes FYEW
There's no rhyme or reason, it just does it with all of my music.
    Please help!

  • Song Name in iTunes shows Artist & Song title, but ID3 tag is Correct

I recently recreated my entire music library on iTunes (6000 songs) by adding the entire MyMusic folder. I noticed that all the song titles had the Artist name then song name (this caused problems when I did a sync with my iPod). When I went back into my iTunes, if I played the song, the Song Name would change back to the Song Title (without artist), but I don't want to do that with 6000 songs. I wiped it out again, and started to add 1 folder at a time, and it seems to be fine, but again, I don't want to do that for every folder.
Does anyone know why it does this when I add it all at once, and how can I prevent it. All my ID3 tags are fine (I've changed a bunch with MediaMonkey). Should I try a different tag editor? Any ideas?

iTunes labels the songs by the track name only.
    iTunes prefs -> Advanced-
Uncheck *Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library*.
The files will remain where they are and not be copied into the iTunes music folder.
Uncheck *Keep iTunes music folder organized*.
This will leave the file names alone.

  • When my nano is on shuffle, it won't load the song information like artist, song title, album. Only album art.Is this normal?

My nano 6th generation is just a few days old, and I had to reset it earlier because it refused to play some artists, so the troubleshooting was successful.
However now when I use the shuffle mode, I noticed that it doesn't display the song information such as artist, song name, album, just the album art. When I shake to shuffle, it usually doesn't. This is sporadic: sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Is this an error or is there a way to fix this? But when I shuffle manually, it shows the information. Should I have this fixed?

I had a similar issue and spoke to someone at Apple, who sent me this:
    1. Sign out of iTunes on iPhone.
    2. Put the iPhone in airplane mode
    3. Delete the incorrectly named albums from the iPhone
    4. Edit your album names in your iTunes library to what you want
    5. Move the songs & albums from your iTunes library back to your iPhone
    6. Disconnect
    7. Turn off airplane mode
I've had some slight issues arising from it, but the original problem appears fixed.
    Hope it helps,
    Will

  • View song titles in messenger using Itunes...

Hi, I want to view the song title in msn messenger, like windows media player do, but when I play a song in Itunes.
    Thanks,

sounds like a job for the .COM interface

  • Cannot see the artist title & song title in Music...

I'm wondering if there is a way to change the display in Music. When I'm playing a song, the song title and artist appear in very small font at the top. The artwork takes up the entire screen though (which doesn't always help). Is it possible to make the font larger so that I can see the artist & song title with a quick glance (instead of getting out a maginifying glass?)
    Thanks in advance

I've tried iTunes, but when I'm on the road I don't have wifi access. Maybe there is an app that will playback music and allow me to see the artist & song title in bigger lettering?

  • LOSE SONG TITLES WHEN I BURN CDs

Suddenly when I burn CDs from playlists, the new CD created only has track numbers and no song titles. I used to have a workaround for this problem -- instead of just highlighting the playlist and burning it, i would actually open the playlist and highlight every song -- but this no longer works!
Anybody else have this problem or know why it happens? AND MOST OF ALL... ANYBODY HAVE A SOLUTION?
    Thanks much!

CDDB is at the root of all of this. While it is a VERY comprehensive database, it is not psychic, and cannot detect the contents of a burned CD the way a DVD Player can glean movie info from a DVD. The remedy to this is right after you burn the disc, before you eject it, click Advanced on your menu bar, and choose "Submit CD Track Names". This will put the CD info for your burned disc (even custom mixes) into the back end database at CDDB. What this means to you is while the CD info may not be searchable at gracenote's CDDB website, it IS in the database, and any time you put that CD in a computer with CDDB lookup enabled (with or without ID3 Tagging) the CD will show Track Names and Artist for every song you sent in as part of that disc. I have about 1500 of my CDs in there and anywhere I go to play or rip them, the info is always available, as long as I have an internet connection. If you burn the tracks in the same order as they were on a commercially purchased version of the CD there is no need to submit the track names. CDDB will recognize it as whatever "album" it was burned from.

  • Languages: Some song titles do not show up on iPod menus

    Hi,
I have a few Thai CDs that I have uploaded to my iPod. Unfortunately, the song titles that are using Thai script do not show up in the iPod lists (they show as blank). Is there any way to correct this problem short of translating the names to English in iTunes (the Thai names display correctly in iTunes)?
    Thanks,
    Robert

The iPod does not yet support Thai (look at the tech specs). However some people have put together a hack, check here for info:

I used to be able to print labels for burned CDs with the cover being the playlist name and the other side the song titles...now the titles print out compacted, overlapping each other and illegible. I thought it was the printer but it happened w/1 other printer as well,  which I used before for this exact thing w/no problem.

Try cleaning the print head with rubbing alcohol wipe, then replace your print head. Keep pushing the Ok.
Go to this link and HP shows you how.

    Lucky for me it worked!

  • Vicious MPD widget not displaying the artist and song title

EDIT: This thread can be closed now. It turns out Clementine doesn't support mpd and I'm now running ncmpcpp and the widget shows the artist and song title.
I have trouble getting the mpd widget running in awesome wm, it will only display "N/A - N/A". I've read the wiki and done a lot of googling but I can't figure out what I'm missing.

I'm using Clementine to play the music if that makes a difference.

    Hi,
If the songs were purchased from itunes, I suggest that you delete the tracks from your itunes library and move to trash (providing you live in a country that permits redownloading). See http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12283.

  • Cannot display artist's & song titles

I have used two different computers to sync my cd music. One computer will sync with artist and song titles. The other will only sync with Track one, Track two, and no artist's name and titles. How do I get this computer to syn with with names and song list?

"Other than hand typing in the missing names, how can I get this current library to list the missing names and titles?"
If you connect to the internet you can highlighting the tracks in an album and go to Advanced>Get CD Track names: Finding CD information on the Internet
"Also, I noticed that while typing in the missing information is a box called Part of a compliation. Should I check this box?
Only if the CD you are adding information for is truly a compilation, in other words the tracks on the CD are all by different artists. If you tick this box for songs in a CD by a single artist the songs won't appear under Artist on the iPod. They'll only appear under Albums or under Compilations and then the compilation album.

  • We are currently having troubles with our iTunes. Playing different songs and randomly it changes the name of the song to pink time after time. We could go through 5 songs before it will change the next one to song title time after time and artist pink

Hi I am having trouble with iTunes! Randomly when I click on a song in iTunes it changes the song title to time after time and the artist is pink.
I could click on 4 songs and they will be normal but then the 5th one will change the info to time after time.
I haven't done anything different or new, it started doing it all of a sudden, well that I have noticed anyway. Please help.

Hello Schimi. The Time Capsule is a kind of product that offer you two possibility:
    - To use the TC as a router or as an external HD.
The difference between WPA and WPA 2 are:
    - They are two kinds of internet connection.
WPA uses dynamic key encryption , which means that the key is constantly changing and makes the invasion of a wireless network more difficult than WEP . WPA is considered one of the highest levels of wireless security for your network and is recommended if your devices support this kind of encryption . Newer routers offer WPA2 security . WPA2 is compatible with WPA , but offers higher security level . In fact, it meets the high standards of many government agencies . If the router and computer support WPA2 , this should be your choice.
If you need any help or if you find some difficult setting up it you can contact Apple Support.
I am sure that they can help you with that.
I am sory for the delay. I holpe that you solve your issue.

  • Installed newest iTunes.  iTunes screen has NO menus at all. All menus missing along with all music info and song titles. Any thoughts?

Just installed newest iTunes.  The iTunes screen is missing ALL menus (menu bar, side bar everything is blank) All music albums have a musical note icon but NO album titles or song titles.  Music plays but there is no way to know which album or which song until the music starts.
No prompts, no words nothing.  Any thoughts??

That's consistent with trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system.
If you're using Windows XP or Windows Vista, try Vortical's technique from the following post:
    Re: iTunes 10.1 Missing Text
But if you're using Windows 7, try itunesTRK's suggestion from the following post:
