HT203164 what is gracenotes and how do i get rid of it it seems to stop me doenloading
when trying to download a c/d gracenotes comes on my top bar this seems to slow down my downloads what purpose does it serve and how do i get rid of it
I believe you are ripping a CD (from a piece of plastic) not downloading from a site on the Internet.
Gracenote is hte service that provides labels for your tracks when you insert the CD. This information is not on the CD itself.

'Other' taking up 3.6gb on my phone, what is this and how can I get rid?
Hi guys, basically I'm trying to sync my phone with new music and upgrade to 7.0.6, but its not letting me as I apparently dont't have enough room on my phone. It is also saying that 'Other' taking up 3.6gb on my phone, what is this and how can I get rid of it? (Without losing photos etc. already on my phone)
This has been discussed many, many times on this forum.

Oh, I don't think so. But it's amazing how many problems get solved via Google. Thanks for the star, enjoy your evening.

I just started using a new version of Illustrator and the text I am creating has a pink box behind, looks to be about the depth of the normal linespace, it is not visible in outline view, only in preview. What is it and how do I get rid of it?
Hi Larry. I see. It is a file I have worked on previously, and the font is Myriad which I though came with the system. I just changed to Myriad Pro and the pink box disappeared. Thanks for the assistance, I know a new thing!

What is "WebWatch" and how can I get rid of it?
What is "WebWatch" and how can I get rid of it? It just showed up on my home computer. It pops up every few minutes while I'm on line and drives me crazy whem I'm trying to work or just read. This is what it looks like. It's in a small box in the middle of the screen with grey over the rest of the screen. I can't do anything until I "x" it away.
WebWatch
You have been online for:1 hour, 17 minutes
Get back to work! From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
If you see that extension there click Uninstall. -

I have a brand new mac book pro and suddenly I have a pixelated huge red diamond that showed up centered on my desktop. What is it and how do I get rid of it.
No idea, take it back to the store, preferably with a camera shot or a command shift 3 screenshot
Good Luck. -
I have a small icon at the top right of my iphone 4G right to the left of the battery percent. What is this and how do I get rid of it? It looks like a lock with a circle 3/4 of the way around it
That icon indicates your iPhone is rotation locked.
To remove it, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. Tap the similar looking icon there to turn it off. -
when opening safari i get a message that says major security issue please contact apple immediately suspicious activity might have been detected. what is this and how do i get rid of it so i can use my internet?
A misleading and malicious popup. Launch Safari with the Shift key held down; if that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet.

When I open iTunes, I get Error -42408. What is it and how do I get rid of it?
Two things you could try that may or may not help.
1) Force Quit Finder. Hold the Option+Command+esc keys together and Force Quit Finder.
2) Try a Restart -
Bootcamp. What is it and How do I get rid of it?
I accidentally initiated the Bootcamp option on my Imac, and cannot get rid of it. What is it and how do I get rid of it? Thanks.
If you started BootCamp, it should have partitioned your drive (default 32GB) and now be asking for a WinXP disk to begin the install process. If you quit the process, then all you need to do is run BootCamp again and choose to restore your HD partition back to a single partition.
Hope that helps,

Bad pop ups and this thing called macsweeper. what us it and how do I get rid of it
I gave bad pop ups and this thing called macsweeper. What is it and how do I get rid of it. Thanks
There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked. -
Hi. I tried using Pinterest tonight and got a message that I have a bot in my network..what is this, and how do I get rid of it? My phone has been running really slow too on Safari (but not on Google Chrome)
Google changed their menu bar. Firefox hasn't used Google for the default homepage since the Firefox 3.6 versions. Firefox 4+ versions use '''about:home'''.<br />

I have a thin blue line appearing on my screen that wasn't there before - what is it and how do I get rid of it?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
They are probably dead pixels or a signal of damaged GPU. If you can, connect an external display and see if the issue appears here.
In both cases, I suggest you to take it to an Apple Store or reseller. It doesn't look as a software issue, and your display or GPU have to be replaced
