HT203167 Any other way to recover music

I lost all my music from my itunes account. I found that most of my music is under my older apple ID.  When I logged in it said I had to wait 90days to change the ID. Is there any other way I can recover my music?

Have you failed to maintain a backup copy?

  • Any other ways to put music on my ipod rather than synchronising it?

My computer goes really slow once i have music stored onto it which means if i sync my music to my ipod, i would then have to delete them to speed up my computer, so when i plug my ipod back in will then erase all the songs. Is there not another way to put music on? please help?

    maybe this helps:

In this mode you connect the iPod to iTunes and add content to it by dragging and dropping what you want on the iPod from your iTunes library:
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Using iPod with Multiple computers

  • I Tunes has lost a large proportion of my music library.  The music in question is however still on my IPod.  Is there any way to sync backwards so the IPod updates ITunes?  Or is there any other way I can try to recover the lost music files?

I Tunes has lost quite a large proportion of my music library.  I think this may have happened when I tried to download a previous version of ITunes that failed to load.  Whatever, the music is still on my IPod.  Is there anyway files on an Ipod can be transferred back into ITunes?  Or is there any other way I can try to recover my music files?  Also, I no longer have any confidence in ITunes ability to store data efficiently and wonder if there is any way I can back up my IPod outside ITunes?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

You are making no sense at all, are you using Lion or Snow Leopard,? did you try BobTheFishermans sugegstion for booting into OSX, please answer the questions rather than your current approach.

  • My laptop has crashed and I can't sync my iPad air. I have tried to back up off I cloud but it hasn't transferred all of my photos or music. Is there anyway I can access my iTunes account any other way?

Your iTunes account won't include your non-iTunes purchased e.g. music copied from CDs etc, nor photos that were synced from a computer.
To get non-iTunes music you will have to go via a computer. If you don't have that music on, for example, an external drive, then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back from a device : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
For photos that were originally synced from a computer then there are apps such as Simple Transfer which can copy them between devices and/or to a computer (though photos are 'optimised' as part of the syncing process, so if you do copy them back to a computer then they might not be the same as they were on your laptop).
There is also this page for syncing to a new computer : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

If you want to drag and drop ( don;t know why you would do this), you will have to check manually manage music.
    Why not just sync?

  • My documents on my iCloud storage got automatically deleted, is there any possible way to recover them? They're nearly 1GB and very important to me.

On January 26th, I downloaded iCloud for Windows and logged in using my account which was the same with the one on my Mac. 2 days later, at 3:27 PM January 28th, my 1 GB of documents on my iCloud storage got deleted automatically. I'm saying this because at that time I was sleeping and both my Mac and my Windows PC are turned off, and I'm home alone, besides there was no suspicious login reported to me by Apple.
So is there any possible way to recover these documents? I'm a teacher and they're very important to me. My Time Machine wasn't enabled so using it is useless.
Thank you so much for any help.

Please please help me, if you know how.

  • TS1368 don't have PC right now - is there any other way to synch my iPod with iTunes?

This is likely a dumb question but I need to ask...
I am in between PC's, meaning I don't currently have a home computer (actually looking to purchase a MacBook but not for another 1-2 months).  I want to synch my iPod with the music we've been purchasing via my iPad.
I am figuring it is possible to go to a friend's house and use their computer to access my iTunes account and synch...is there any other way?  Just asking, just in case...
    Thanks so much!

The only way to clear off the passcode is to restore the device.  You could always try the restore process on another computer that has iTunes just to get the iPod working again, then you could plug it back into your comptuer to sync all of his content back on the iPod.

i noticed this as a bug in iTunes. make sure the correct file is selected in the preferences menus. It does not have to be the default location directiory as Vazandrew stated. your iTunes music library can be anywhere you want it. i have mine on an external cuz i'm a dj and have over 80,000 songs.
once you select/verify the location of your music library, simply drag the folder into the left panel in iTunes from a finder window. iTunes does not automatically add the items like it use to for some reason.

Hey Posada143, You can still try the rice thing, but do not expect much, as roaminggnome has stated. The rice only works if you do it ASAP and leave the iPod off-- do not attempt use, turn on or charge until it is completely dried out. This is probably academic at this point but remember this for the next time: The drying can take 10 days. You put the uncooked rice and iPod in a sealed bag, change the rice every couple of days. This creates a low humidity environment and draws the moisture out of the iPod, but it takes time. Turn your iPod on to earlier, and you run the risk of shorting out, damaging the components inside. Even if done correctly it can spotty. If you do get the iPod to work (and this may require Resetting, Restoring or attempting to place it in DFU recover mode) the first thing you do is make backups, because you never know how long it will continue to work. As for your pictures, if you can't get your iPod to work, you can try data retrieval companies, however; there is no guaranty it will work and it tends to be very expensive. In the future get in the habit of as making backups, because you just don't know. And invest in and use a water tight case. Hope this helps, Good luck. Cheers.

No. You need a computer with iTunes and an internet connection.
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Is there any possible way to recover photos/videos on an iPad even if it wasn't backed up?

Music can be re-downloaded in some countries - does music show under the Purchased tab under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (re-downloading) ? If it does then you can re-download them for free (though not all purchases may still be the store). If you are not in a country where music can currently be re-downloaded and you don't have a backup then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
