HT203167 authorized on my computer
I am a long-time iTunes customer, and have had little problems here an there with importing my music from backups, but nothing major. After a recent backup restoration of my iTunes library onto a new computer, some of my songs are not "authorized" to be played yet, until after a "90 day" waiting period, since songs can only be associated with one new device every 90 days apparently. Has anyone else ran into this irrational phenomenon? What did you do to work through it (please don't say you waited 90 days to listen to your own music!)
Another interesting phenomenon, I cannot burn CDs. I get the error code 4310.
Another interesting condition, my smart playlists are missing in the convenient "add to" menus, but not in the general playlist view. They are all there, but not always accessible.
Could I have done something wrong when I restored my library? I simply replaced the library that was automatically installed with iTunes. Then oriented iTunes to where it was, asking it to keep the library organized etc.
I am using the newest version 11 of iTunes.
I am using Windows 8 (by the way, not a possible selection on this subission, so I said 7)
I have no other computer at my disposal, since my last one crashed.
I would dearly appreciate help.
Thanks!
Dave
How exactly did the content get backed up and restored?
The simplest method to backup is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the computer to an external drive, optical media, or another computer. To restore would be a simple matter of copying everything back.
If specific media is not playing and requiring authorization my first thought is this media was acquired with a different AppleID. If that is the case, the computer must be authorized for that Apple ID as well.

Your music and playlissts will only be where you put them.
Have you copied them to your new computer from your old one? -
My iPhone wont let me download some apps that i have payed for on on my account; it says my iPhone is not authorized for this computer, but it is.
No, iTunes never says an iPhone is not authorized.
This is occurring on a computer, correct?
Is the computer authorized for the account the media or apps were acquired with? -

After getting a new desktop I downloaded iTunes and authorized my new computer and then de-authorized my old one, When I try to update my 5S it says my phone is not authorized and list my wifes email address as the account holder and not mine. How do I correct this. I am using Windows 8.1 . My wife has never had an iTuunes account
Hello Lakesidetom,
It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? Below, I have included links to some resources that may help you determine if your wife has created an Apple ID:

How do I retrieve my iTunes library from a broken computer onto another computer?? I've clicked on home sharing and also authorized the new computer to my account but still nothing!
It would help if you would describe what a 'broken' computer is. Did a truck run over it? Does it just not turn on? etc.

I was trying to sync my itouch with my new mac, and some songs won't download because they are not authorized for this computer. But even after my computer was authorized they still won't sync. How do I fix this?
I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.
No answers here, but you are definitely not alone with this issue. -
My iMac holds my main iTunes account and it shows 4 devices are authorized to play iTunes. I can only name 3. How do I find out a list of all the devices that are authorized from this computer?
I don't believe this is possible, but you can deauthorize all your computers and start over if you are concerned.
See here

I made the mistake of resetting my iPod to factory defaults. Now it will only partially sync to my music library. I continually get an error message saying that certain songs are not authorized for my computer, although they are in the iTunes library on the computer and will play. It's these songs that won't transfer to the iPod. I have deauthorized and re-authorized the computer but no joy. Any ideas?
Hello there DesertRat71,
I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. Here is the help menu link for it if you need it help://bookmark='https://help.apple.com/itunes/mac/11.0/help/index.html?localePa th=English.lproj#itns2937'
In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.
All the best,

Since I downloaded iTunes 11, I get a message when syncing my iPod that some of my songs were not copied because they are not authorized on this computer, I go to Store> Authorize This Computer, a message pops up telling me that this computer is already.
So I am unclear, did you purchase these songs or import them from a cd?
If you imported them and still have the CD try importing them again and see if they work the delete the others.
Or if you purchased from itunes re-dowwnload and see if they work. Maybe they are corrupted files and this should resove it. -

I have purchased a song from the same computer on itunes that my library plays from. However this certain song is grayed out and will not play. It says the song is not authorized on this computer, but then I try to authorize it and I get a message that this computer is already authorized. Any ideas?
That suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item. -
I have "authorized" my new computer in itunes to play and sync old itunes library. However, not all songs can be played due to a continuing authority problem. Apparently, these old songs are associated with a old user apply id--and old--no longer accessible email address. What can I do to associate music (which I paid for) on an old outdated apple id to my current apple id? Thank you!
Copy it from the other computer or from your backup copy of your other computer.

I authorized a second computer on my iTunes account and tried to get my first computer's library on my second computer via the Cloud. Many of the songs only partially downloaded, and I am having a hard time getting rid of the library with the partial downloads (so I can get full songs). I am considering nuking the current iTunes on the second computer and re-installing, giving myself a clean slate to work with. Is this the right way to go?
