restoring purchased apps after software update through itunes

And....that's your question? How to restore the apps? Sync your iPad with iTunes and the apps should be restored to your device. Or go to the purchased tab of the App Store and tap on Not on this iPad and download them again.
Did you restore from a backup after you updated? Can you provide any information at all?

I am trying to redownload purchased music after a hard drive dilemma.  When I click on the 'purchased' category in the iTunes store I get an error message.  Any insight?

Does it include "unable to download "ITEM" at this time. Please try again"? I think there is an issue with redownloading your purchases using the "purchased list" option. I suggest you contact the support team for a history regrant (your purchases will be reposted to your account", which i think is a one time exception and would only include the items which are still available in the store.

How do I reload purchased music on my desk top after a computer crash restored with back up external hard drive?

    Hello Boogiec522,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you would like to download your iTunes Store purchases again to your desktop computer.
No worries there, you can re download them free of charge from the iTunes Store with this article:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12283
Download previous iTunes Store purchases to an authorized computer
Click iTunes Store near the top of the iTunes window.
Click the Purchased link at the right of the iTunes Store homepage (below Quick Links).
In the page that appears, select a category.iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download. If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading. To search for an item, type its name or a keyword in the search field, and then press the Return key to view your search results.
To download an item, click its Download button .To download all available items, click Download All.
    All the best,

  • Lost purchased music after restore

I had to do a restore. iTunes said it was backing up my iPhone and then I did the restore based on the backup, but neither my apps or purchased music had been restored. I had a load of music, that I paid for. Is there some where I can go to download all my lost music with out re-paying?

Why is it not in your itunes library? If you purchase any content on your phone, you MUST File>Transfer purchases to get the content into your itunes library. The itunes content sync is ONE WAY: computer to phone. You can re-download purchased apps for free. For the rest of your purchased content, contact itunes support, plead your case, beg...they "may" let you re-download it, but the decision is theirs:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
For future reference: the iphone should NOT be used as a storage device, things can & will happen. If you purchase content on your phone, ALWAYS File>Transfer Purchases as soon as possible. Likewise, your itunes library should be regularly backed up.

  • Can't play itunes purchased music after back-up restore

I recently had to restore my home folder from a back-up, because my drive failed. I authorised the computer without problem, but when I try to play the purchased music nothing happens and I mean nothing. No error message, no spinning wheel. Just nothing. When I play it through a play list it just skips to the next song. Same thing on my iPod. Now I should mention, cause I think it's important, that this is happenining with only 1 of my purchased songs. The rest are working. Normally I would just replace the defective file. Obviously this wouldn't work in this case.
So how do I go about fixing this problem or getting the file replaced?
    Thanks,

Please help... I am having the same problem. I purchased 250 songs on iTunes and now can not play at least half the songs because my computer (the same one I downloaded the songs to and the only one I have owned) is not authorized. When I try to authorize the songs - nohing happens. Additionally, some other person with a similiar email account name had downloaded iTunes on to his computer, but my credit card was charged for his songs. Fortunately, he called me and reimbursed me for the songs (very nice guy).
Does iTunes have a support person we can talk to? If not this is crazy. It is tough to be a loyal customer with things like this happening. I would appreciate any thoughts on how I can remedy this situation. Thanks in advance.

  • How do I restore email and drafts from Apple Mail in Time Machine after account was deleted.

My Apple Mail email account was deleted by a support person and I lost several hundred emails and close to 1100 drafts that I desperately need. I have been using an external drive for backing up in Time Machine.
I do not know how to get my emails and drafts out of Time Machine and onto my Apple drive.
Any help would be appreciated  HUGELY!

    Command-R to the rescue.
Just hold down Command-R during startup and Lion Recovery springs into action. It lets you choose from common utilities: You can run Disk Utility to check or repair your hard drive, erase your hard drive and reinstall a fresh copy of Lion, or restore your Mac from a Time Machine backup. You can even use Safari to get help from Apple Support online. And if Lion Recovery encounters problems, it will automatically connect to Apple over the Internet.
When boot into Recovery and select item 1, you will be given a choice of a point to recover from.

  • Backup: Restoring Purchased Music to another Mac

How can I use the "pre-defined" Backup Plan "Purchased Music and Videos" to do the following:
    1) Backup to CD/DVDs
    2) Restore to another Mac in a separate folder so that items can later be dragged into the destination Mac's iTunes Library
I have tried the obvious already, and it appeared that there was no song files in the restored folder. I don't quite understand how to do what I need.

You can't backup to an externa hard disk in iTunes, but there is nothing to stop you doing it in Windpws Explorer.
Assuming you have a default installation i.e music files in the iTunes Music folder, just close iTunes and copy the iTunes folder to the external disk.
It more convenient to use backsoftware which can backup changes, so after the intial backup, further backs are fast.
There is an article on backup here:

  • Lost all my purchased music after update!

I recently purchased the software update for my iPod touch, and have now lost all of my purchased music from my iTunes. How can I get it back?

Your music is normally stored in your iTunes library (which is how it was originally synced to your phone) and syncing with iTunes would transfer it back to your phone.  If it isn't in your iTunes library your only option is to re-import it and then sync it to your phone.  Music has never been included in the iPhone backup.  (When you restore an iCloud backup it merely redownloads your purchased music from the iTunes store.)
------But my music from ripped CDs and playlists are now missing from my  iTunes library on my commuter too after I upgraded/downloaded the latest iTunes version that was suggested. 11.0 I think? So if I don't have the CDs to rip again, the music is pretty much lost then huh?

  • IPod won't play purchased music after upgrading.....

    Help -
My boss has the 30g video IPod. He has upgraded his Itunes software to 7.0 and also upgraded his IPod to 1.2 (whatever the newest version is). He is not having the problems I have seen others are having but the issue he is having is that his IPod will not play his purchased music.
I did find this article (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303854) on the website and have tried everything it suggests to fix it. All the software is up-to-date, we have deauthorized and reauthorized his computer, and I have followed the instructions to recreate the Itunes Library. Still the songs won't play - he can navigate to the folder of purchased music on the IPod and it will let him hit play but it will just display the song and album cover and then keep skipping to the next song - never actually playing the song.
Can anyone please give me some advice for what else to try? If all else fails he would like to just restore his IPod and go back to ITunes 6.0. I tried this by uninstalling ITunes 7 and then installing 6 again but when I open 6 it says it can not be opened because the library was created by a newer version of ITunes. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Dell   Windows XP

I have this exact same problem since I bought my new 80GB iPod.
All purchased songs play fine in iTunes on my Mac but they just skip past each track when I try to play on my iPod. As mentioned above I have tried the advice Apple give and have restored my iPod and recreated library but I still have the same problems.

  • Finding purchased music after installing a new hardrive with old one acting

My old hard drive lost its windows OP but it still has all the info on it. I use it as a slave for my new drive but I can't find the purchased music I bought from iTunes in the hidden folders on it.itunes still has a record of my purchased music but will not let me re-download it. How do I get this music BACK that I paid money for?
    Message was edited by: Madcustomer

If you are using (or were using) Windows XP or Vista then the music files should be located in X:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\My Documents\My Music\iTunes where "X" is the drive letter assigned to your old drive and "USER NAME" is the user account name that was used with iTunes. For your future use, this is why it is important to make backups of your data. iTunes provides an easy way to backup your media library to disc. once you have copied over the music to your new HDD, you will need to import it to iTunes and then re-authorize that computer. Open iTunes and select "File" from the menu then click "Add Folder to Library". this will open a window to select the folder to import. browse to your "My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music" folder (if that is where you copied the music back to) and click OK. After the music is added back into you iTunes you need to authorize the PC again. Select "Store" from the menu and then click "Sign In..." and enter the Apple ID used to purchase the music. Once signed in to your account, Select "Store" from the menu and then click "Authorize Computer". Now try to play some music that was purchased through iTunes to make sure everything is working. If so now would be a good time to backup your music. To do this Select "File" from the menu and then click "Back Up to Disc..." and select if you want to backup your whole libary or just purchased music. Then use either CD-Rs or DVD+-R media to backup your music. Hope it works out for you.

  • Purchased songs not showing up in "purchased music" after computer migratio

I recently had an imac stolen that had a dozen or so songs on it that I had purchased through the iTunes store. Since then, I've obtained a replacement imac (now running 10.5.1 cf. 10.4.11 before), deauthorized the old imac, authorized the new one and restored my files from a Retrospect backup. While my purchased music files still exist, and show up in the library they no longer appear under the "purchased music" selection. Is there a trick to getting them to be recognized as purchased songs?
    Thanks in advance,
    alan

I purchased a track, it appears on my iphone 5s okay but isn't anywhere on my itunes. there isn't anything in Purchsed under iStore.
I had my iphone plugged in when I purchsed the track, so should have been on both iphone and itunes, much like purchasing an app.
    Any ideas?
have IOS 7.1 loaded, is this a known issue (to us not apple)?
