HT203175 itunes updates automatically without authorisation

Hello there,
I tunes starts updating automatically a few minutes after I've turned on my (Win XP) PC.
It goes without saying that I have long disabled automatic updates from the menus.
Updating just starts on its own and the little bar pops on the screen without me having had any itunes-related activity.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hmm, I don't think iTunes does auto-update, though it will normally announce when updates are available. Start Apple Software Update, click cancel, click Edit... Preferences. Choose your settings.

  • Check for itunes updates automatically

Hi I'd like to roll itunes 7.02 out to my business users as we intend to deliver work related content via podcasts, but I'd like to standardise on a version.
Is there anyway to uncheck the "check for itunes updates automatically" in the general preferences via the registry?
I have looked can can't locate this setting but it must be there somewhere.
    Thanks in advance

You have Synergy running? What happens when you don't have it running?
Any utility, whether a widget, an application or whatever, that controls or gets status from iTunes has the potential to launch iTunes when you don't expect. The developers try to ensure it doesn't happen but it can still happen.

  • Update infotype without authorisation check

Hi, I have a requirement to update an infotype without authorisation check. Please let me know if there is any function module I can use to do that.
    Regards,
    Lanwu

    Hi,
    What is the functional requirement?
Because basically it's the same as granting users extended authorization, but without the authorization to execute transaction pa## (except for pa20).
This way, you prevent users from changing their own data. But when they use a program with FM hr_infotype_operations, they pass the checks.

  • Automatic itune update question

sometimes there is a message that says there is a new version of itune that you can download. It asks if you want to download now or later and there is also a box that can be checked or not checked asking if this message should appear again. by accident i clicked that this message should NOT appear again but now I don't know how to update itunes. I think there is this option that says check for itunes updates under help but i would like to get the automatic message thing again. (it's just easier for me). Any help would be appreciated. THanks in advance.

  • Itunes upgrades automatically installed without permission

For the last year, for some reason when new versions are released, I get a message when I open i-tunes asking me whether I want to download the software now or later.  I click later.   With the latest upgrade to 12, I probably clicked the "later" icon in the message 4 or 5 times over a few days.  If I'm away from my laptop for a significant period of time, Apple has downloaded and installed the new version of it-tunes without asking me.  I can tell right away because the icon that sits near the bottom of  the desktop has been moved.
Under the Edit/Preferences/Advanced setting, the box to automatically download the software is unchecked.  Possibly, there is another check box I'm missing.  At one point, I even renamed the Update Program and it still happened.  I'm thinking it has to do with browsing in the i-tunes store. I don't like downloading the software until about a month after the release because of all the glitches in it.  Fortunately in the previous release of itunes 11, I knew about the Microsoft update that resulted in the installation crashing and I had uninstalled it before the new release automatically installed itself.  Hope someone knows the answer to this one, that would be great.  Thanks.

I find that strange. I have been using Windows 7 for a long time, as well as iTunes. While the Apple Software Update program will check for updates, there is nothing there that tells it to install. That has to be done manually, and if neither the setting in iTunes or the Software Update are set to check for updates, then it should not even be checking for it. I have one computer set to check weekly, and one set to never check. Even the device I have set to weekly will only prompt me to tell me that software is available, it will not download it, let alone install it. I'm also not aware of any additional settings anywhere that would automatically install an iTunes update. I wouldn't know what to say about that.

  • How can I tell itunes to install iPhone App updates automatically?

ITunes 12 can download app updates. Right now I have to connect my iPhone, go the installed apps and click on (for each updated app) "update" to change it to "will update" and then click "sync". How can I tell iTunes to automatically update any updated app currently on the iPhone?

I know they need to be converted, but the problem is, 2000 of the 5000 have already been converted. now it's trying to convert them again. but there is no reason for that. i want to know how to convert the other files that weren't converted yet, without having to re-convert the ones that were already done.
I would move the ones that were done to a separate folder, but I don't know exactly what ones were done. In iTunes, they are the first 2000 or so in the list, but on my hard drive they are not in the same order.
Does anyone else know if there's a way to do this?

  • Downloaded audio book on my iphone does not appear in itunes library and i cannot update iOS without transfering it to library

Downloaded audio book to my iphone does not appear in my itunes library and i cannot update iOS without transfering it to library

You should be able to copy it over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so you may want to take a backup copy of it when you've copied it over to your computer

  • Prevent / stop itunes 11 automatically updating

I dont know how i ended up with itunes 11 but i cant stand it - mainly because it slows my whole computer down so much i cant have it open in the background. Its a windows 7 machine with 4gb ram. Everything works fine inc CAD and video editing, but itunes is just way too slow.
I have reverted to itunes 10.7 several times, but itunes always automatically updates itself to version 11. It doesnt ask me - it just happens magically. One day i am happily using itunes 10.7. The next day i open itunes and it will be version 11 and go through all the new version stuff.I have tried the following things:
    - Yes i have unchecked the box in preferences that says: "automatically check for updates"
    - when i have uninstalled i have also removed every other piece of Apple software including Apple Software Updater
    - i have rolled back to to itunes 10.7 and then uninstalled the software updater which must be part of the whole package
    - i have tried to edit the registry - to disable automatically checking for updates but have not had success.
How do i stop itunes from updating automatically?

    So heres the latest:
During the week my computer again magically updated itself to itunes 11. I have no idea how. I open itunes and it starts the "new itunes" stuff. I see no update dialogue whatsoever. Its about 2 weeks since i rolled back to 10.7
I generally work with remote rural communities - i can get internet through my cell phone but only enough bandwidth to send/receive emails. Its virtually impossible to load web pages which leaves me wondering how itunes 11 manages to get itself onto my computer in the first place.
I can only suppose when i am in the city every week or 2 it has downloaded itself and then decides to install itself at an opportune time.
Im happy to buy music through itunes but the program itself is such a resource hog that i cant use it while running CAD programs or other work software. Added to that i cant stop it from doing whatever it likes to my computer - its starting to look more like malware than a useful program to me.
Anyone have this strange problem? The options i can see are: dump itunes for winamp or other; reinstall windows which im not inclined to do.
    Ideas?
    Regards,
    Craig

  • Installing iTunes updates without admin rights

I'm the sys admin for a small IT department. None of the users have admin rights, which means every time an iTunes update comes around, they can't install it.
How can I make this easier for us all, without having to go around to all their machines to install for them, and without giving them admin rights?

+"None of the users have admin rights, which means every time an iTunes update comes around, they can't install it."+
Users without admin rights cannot install their own programs, iTunes or otherwise.
Note that you do not need to install every single iTunes update that comes along. Just upgrade once in while. (I am on 7.6, and doing fine.) The newer versions don't support anything new that your folks are supposed to be doing at work anyway. (-:

  • I keep getting the itunes update message and when I accept the terms and conditions it just keeps going back to tell me I have 3 updates itunes, safari and icloud and goes back to accept message without actually downloading?

What is going on with itunes update?  I keep getting the message that updates are available for itunes, safari and icloud, but when I accept the terms and conditions and the install 3 items message, it keeps going back to telling me there are 3 updates available and have to accept terms and conditions again without it ever installing!! I am using a PC with windows vista.  Have not had this problem till December when I got an ipad and had icloud installed, don't know if there is a connection.

I can't offer any help but it soulds like Apple goofed with the latest update. Many of us have the same problem. I may wait a week or so to see if Apple responds.

  • Since updating to 10.9.2 iTunes starts automatically when watching movies via Safari, that annoys

    Hi
since the most recent update, iTunes starts automatically. I can quit iTunes at least 10 times since it finally stops to launch.
    Any idea, why?
    thanks in advance

Thanks for your helpful hint, but unfortunatly it did not solve the problem. I know, its rather difficult to explain:
I use the same order on MacBook Pro & Mac Mini (sorted by name in descending order). Both display the photos in iphoto correct as follows:
    "20111009 London
    20111008 Festival
    20110924 Marriage
    20110820 Summer
    20110617 Italy
    20110524 Spring
    ...etc...
    20030101 Wintertrip"
But on apple tv 2 - only when using the Mac Mini as the source - the order is wrong like this (on apple tv 2):
    "20110924 Marriage
    20110820 Summer
    20110617 Italy
    20110524 Spring
    ...etc...
    20030101 Wintertrip
    20111008 Festival
    20111009 London"
Using my MacBook Pro as source for the apple tv 2: everything is fine, the sort order on my apple tv 2 is correct. I imported "20111008 Festival" and "20111009 London" both after the update to iOS5, when I returned from London. I updated my Mac Mini, MacBook Pro and my apple tv 2 (ios5, iphoto 9.2 and iTunes 10.5).
I did another test and changed the sort order on the Mac Mini to be sorted by date and in ascending order. This had no effect to the way the photos are displayed on apple tv 2. The photos are still displayed wrong as described above ("20111008 Festival" and "20111009 London" are put to the very end). It seems, as if apple tv 2 does simple ignore the sort order given by Mac Mini. On apple tv 2 I have to scroll down to the very end to watch my Festival photos and my London photos.
I have two apple tv 2 and the problem is just the same. This is why I thought it might be a problem of my Mac Minis iphoto library or the way it is transmitted via iTunes.
