HT203180 Video Podcast Encoded with lavf53.0.3

So I tried to convert these for iPod from the advanced menu in itunes and an error occurred trying to convert them.  It was an unknow error (-11821).  Can anyone tell me what this is and how to convert it?

I'd like to try to get it right w/ Premiere so i can
avoid the extra step of QT PRO. That would also add
another layer of compression, degrading video
quality, wouldn't it?
I'm woefully unfamiliar with Premiere. But a Google search showed me that there's an export option to iPod settings. With Final Cut Pro you can export your finished sequence using QuickTime settings, and by choosing to Export to iPod you've got a direct encode from the FCP timeline to iPod-compatible MPEG-4/H.264. Premiere seems like it can do something similar - just one step, no extra layer of compression.

  • Video Podcast issue with iPod Video

    Hi
I just upgraded from 60GB photo to 80GB video and am having problems playing back some video podcasts. It plays back some but not others. The ones that don't work have audio but the video is jerky, i.e. it looks as if it is playing a still slideshow. I have checked the problem videos in iTunes and they play fine in there.
    Regards, Simon Smith

If anyone knows of an answer to this problem, I'd be grateful as well... having the same thing happen with a couple of my video podcasts as well.
    Cheers,
    Darren

  • Video podcasts compatible with iPhone

    Hello,
I've downloaded a few free video podcasts from the iTunes Store.
When I try to upload them to my iPhone, I occasionally get an error message saying that they are not compatible, so I convert them.
However, I'm wondering what, specifically, I need to look for when I download a video podcast that identifies it as being compatible or non-compatible for the iPhone. Is there anything specific that I can look at about the video podcast that will give me this information in iTunes?

Copied from the iPhone specifications link.
    http://support.apple.com/specs/iphone/iPhone.html
+Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats+
If the video file plays in iTunes, select the video and at the menu bar go to Advanced and select Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone. This will duplicate the selection. Try selecting the converted file to be transferred to your iPhone via your iPhone sync preferences.

  • Same video footage encoded with different audio tracks (localization)?

Hi All, thanks for your time first of all.
Let me explain the issue I have; there are 5 video files and  10 audio files for each of them. That means I need to encode in total 50 videos. I can do this by hand, the video and audio files are the same length, so it would just means swapping one out for the other and encoding again...
But I was wondering if it was possible to automate this process? Let's say take the video footage and render is out with Audio1, then render it out with Audio2 and so forth.  Is this something that is possible with AME or in Premiere or any other Adobe package?
I hope I explained this well enough, if not, please let me know!
    Thanks.
    -Woody

You can add the video footage to a sequence, then add the first audio clip.  Set up your export and hit the Queue button.  That will send the sequence as it exists then to the Adobe Media Encoder.
Go back to that sequence, remove the first audio file and add in the second.  Do another export.  Your settings should be the same so you can just hit the Queue button.  This ads another item to the list in AME, but this one is a snapshot of the sequence with the second audio.
Repeat as necessary, all using the same sequence.  (Trust me, it'll work.)
Go into Adobe Media Encoder and start the encoding.

  • The "converted by iTunes" Video Podcasts not appearing on the iPod

    Greetings,
I have downloaded some (old) video podcasts from the Music Store. As they were old files; I realised that they were not suitable for the iPod 5G, while trying to sync to the iPod. Then I converted them by using iTunes itself via 'convert selection for iPod' function.
Then, as it's a known case, an error message appeared on iTunes that not all the files were transferred to iPod, blah blah. (Because the unsuitable files will also remain on the iTunes, as well as the converted ones.)
So to get rid of that error message, I have chosen to delete those old and unsuitable files which I would not need anymore.
When I update my iPod, everything seems to be ok, no more warnings on the screen, etc - but the problem is that those converted 'suitable' files do not appear neither on the Video Podcasts folder, nor in another video folder on the iPod. But they are on the iTunes, within the right folder (videos -> podcasts), together with a newly published Video Podcast of the same series - which is the only one appearing on the iPod.
Is the only chance to view them changing their folders from 'podcasts' to e.g. 'movies' folder? Or is it just another bug of iPod G5 which really starts to disappoint me these days?
Does anybody experience a situation like this?
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
    »iMac G5|rev.B 2.0ghz 1.5gb-ram   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   »iPod shuffle|512mb »The iPod|5G 60gb software1.1(regret)

Reconverting the files normaly changes the original podcast meta-data. Download and use a meta-data modifier utility (like Lostify) to reinsert the proper tags.

  • Turn off display for Video Podcast...?

    Howdy,
I use an iPhone 4 with the most recent software...
Is it possible to turn off the display while running a video podcast?
With earlier iPhones it worked fine, but the old method does not work, and I have been unable to find a method that will do this.
    Thanks for any help,
    A.C.

with the following command running in a commandprompt window you can turn your screen black untill you click or type something.
You can easily transform this in a script which runs every 10minutes in scheduled tasks
    %systemroot%\system32\scrnsave.scr /s
    GPO scheduled tasks
I've added a link to technet article about GPO and scheduled tasks

  • Video podcast friendly video encoding? any clue?

I want to provide 1 file that can be streamed, but also downloaded for podcasting. I am already providing multiple bandwidth versions, and to include yet another version for podcasting would just be a headache and a half. Any encoding settings someone can think of that will be stream and video podcast friendly?

    I guess that's a no.
Upon further investigation, I discovered that I could not stream media that was outputted via quicktime/ffmpeg with "For Ipod", since it wasn't hinted. Likewise I think the complexity of the hinting for the Ipod, is too much for it to deal with. I don't even have a video ipod right now to solidify a test of this, but I did some preliminary tests with an video ipod I was borrowing for a day.
Seems like such a waste, to have to encode 2 files that really don't differ all that much.

  • HT1689 I subscribe to my video podcasts but some of them either has a small red E next to them and won't download new content or some just doesn't download new content. I have been watching the Rachael Maddow video podcast for at least a month with no pro

I subscribe to my video podcasts but some of them either has a small red E next to them and won't download new content or some just doesn't download new content. I have been watching the Rachael Maddow video podcast for at least a month with no problems. Now suddenly it won't download the last nights show. I have read and followed all troubleshoot and cannot find a solution. I have unsubscribed and re-subscribed to no avail. Can someone help me with this problem?

And now that my contract has expired, I have some options.  Last weekend, I called Verizon again threatening to leave.  The representative offered the same $75 rebate that was offered to me 6 months earlier.  I even offered up one of my device upgrades in place of a network extender, but that deal was knocked down.  And so now I’m left with the option to make a public spectacle out of this scenario and hope Verizon takes notice.  Failing that, I’ll be forced to leave Verizon behind.
I don't understand. If having service in your home IS important to you and you already know Verizon's policy, why have you not instead started to search for carriers which cover your home? It seems a pretty easy decision to me, at least.

  • Video podcasts no longer sync with iPod Touch

I am using latest version of iTunes 10.1.1 (4) and latest os 10.6.5 on MacBook Pro with iPod Touch (gen 3). I subscribe to a video podcast and in beginning it worked, but for last 2 months though they download into iTunes and I can watch them, they are either not syncing to my iPod or I cannot find them. Before they were in Podcast list along with audio podcasts.

Yeah I noticed some videos we'rent syncing to my iPod 5th Gen now that I switched to Mac, and reformatted my iPod, and was reminded that some items wouldn't transfer. These were certain podcasts, as well as a HD TV Show Episode. (I thought HD TV show purchases came with a SD version for iPod, but maybe it got lost in the transfer or I deleted it sometime)....but WHATEVER:
If you want, you can convert any video file to a format that fits iPod/iPhone, or even iPad/Apple TV, here's how:
Select the video item(s) you wish to make a compressed version for, and click ADVANCED on the menu bar. Then select "Create iPod/iPhone Version" or "Create iPad/Apple TV Version" depending on what you are syncing too. If these options are greyed out, it means it is not necessary to do this as those devices already can support the file as is. iTunes will then convert, and presto, you have a copy which will go onto your device!

    Hi there
Sorry, but your post seemed to initially infer you were just referring to a Button you would insert on a page. At least that's what I understood when I posted with what I did.
Now it would seem you are referring to the Playback Controls that Captivate supplies? So either I grossly misunderstood your initial issue or you are now switching gears and asking about something different.
What I posted earlier does not apply to the Captivate Playback Controls.

  • VIDEO PODCAST WITH iWEB-how to deal with huge file size

    Hello folks,
I have created simple website for my video podcast. It all works fine, except one problem. I had used just small video clips for now, just for testing... and it takes long time for website to download. I can't even imagine, how slow it will be, when I have full 15 video episodes within my website. So I am wondering, is there any way of how to maintain that cool iWeb podcast structure (with podcast page, entry page and archive page) but not to embed those videos onto the page, but instead, play it externally? I have tried to just post the link to the video clip, but than "publish to the folder alternative" does not create correct rss.xml feed, because it does not know where those clips are. So it doesn't work in iTunes.
Any suggestions? Thanks for any input or advise.

    Hello,
unfortunately, no answer yet. The only solution I can think of, is to create a Blog instead of Podcast, then post hyperlink to your video file on entry page. That way, the actual video is not embeded on that webpage, but it only downloads when someone clicks on it. That way you probably won't be able to use subscribe button and RSS subscribe button, but you can create your own Feed with Feed For All software (http://www.feedforall.com), put it on your domain, then post it's URL on your website. So if someone wants to subscribe to your podcast, he will copy that address and paste it into the iTunes or some other podcast readers.
I am a beginner, so this most likely is not the best solution, however, it works so far.
    Good Luck

  • Smart playlists with video podcasts

I have a smart playlist on my iPod with one rule:
    Video Kind is Movie
When I play videos from this list I hear the audio, but the video is frozen on a frame.
All videos work fine when played from the main Videos menu.
Is anybody able to play video podcasts from smart playlists ?

Yup, I can confirm. The whole Video Kind rule doesn't seem to work. I did report it but more voices couldn't hurt.

  • Problems with abc video podcast

I'm not sure what's causing this but none of the Abc news video podcast will play in iTunes on my Mac (10.4.4).
If I load the files in Mplayer they work, with a bit of grey pixels here and there.
The podcasts works just fine in iTunes on a windows machine

    Found the problem.
Had a quicktime plugin that was causing the hiccup.
Be careful if you're using the "3ivx D4 4.5.1 for OSX".
I just removed it, and now everything is fine.
