HT203200 Corrupted music files

It's the first time I've ever experienced problems (that I know of) with corrupted music files from iTunes. I have three incomplete music files that were downloaded. What do I do to get these corrupted files replaced with complete files?

Thanks for replying so quickly Winston,
However, I can't find where I can 're-download' these songs. According to the purchased window for the selected album, these files were 'downloaded' and there doesn't appear to be an option for me to use to re-download.

  • Recover lost deleted corrupted music files tracks from iTunes match icloud

Just spent an hour on Apple's tech suypport line, all to figure out how to recover lost/deleted/corrupted music files/tracks from iCloud / iTunes Match.  Here's how to do it:
ASSUMPTIONS:  You're in iTunes on your computer, logged into your iCloud account.
Within iTunes, in the left-hand pane, select your Music library.  Alll your tracks should appear in the right-hand pane.   Those that are missing from your disk should be marked with an asterisk icon to the left of the track.    Do the following...
...select all the missing/lost/deleted tracks (using the option button), and hit the delete button.
NOTE:  when the delete dialog box comes up, make sure you do ***NOT*** click the "Delete from iCloud" selection!!!
...once deleted, select all the same tracks again, then hit the right mouse button, then select "Download".
All the tracks should start downloading, one by one, from iCloud.
NOTE:  If I were you, I'd perform this operation on discrete chunks (no more than 500 at a time), just to be safe.
    Good luck!

You can also recover the missing tracks from the backup you are keeping on an external HDD. You are backing up, aren't you?

  • Corrupted music files and won't play on external speaker

My new Touch is starting more and more to corrupt some of the music files with pops and jitters and silence. It will also occasionally go into a mode where it will not play on internal speaker. It has no volume bar either. I have to reset all settings to get it back working. I noticed this started after connecting to a blue tooth system in my car. (Ford's Sync system) I don't know if the IPod is going bad or if the bluetooth connection caused problems. I won't do that again! Ford's Sync acted unhappy too. Any suggestions are really appreciated.

Note that the corrupted music is now when I am listening to head phones not on the Ford Sync. Looks like others are having trouble with Ford Sync?

  • How to remove corrupted music files?

I had a list of music files in my gallery. I wanted to remove all, then i marked all n deleted but then it shows me 'System Error'..
so i tried to deleted them off through memory card. Files deleted but still appears in my gallery. Tried to delete again but this time it shows Files Corrupted.
pls, I need some adviseon how to completely remove them.
    Thanks.

My new 5800 had the same problem.
    I fixed it like this:
    - first used the Content Copier in the OVI suite to backup the memory card.
    - then go into the FileManager application on the phone, select the memory card and then under Options->Memory Card Options select "Format". This will wipe all the data off the memory card.
    - Then I restored the memory card from the backup using the ContentCopier again (otherwise you end up losing all the Nokia Maps)
    - Switched the phone on and off again.
    - Going into the music player, it came up with a message like "Looking for music files" or something.
    - Once this had finished, all the working music tracks were back in the library but the corrupt ones were gone.
No other problems that I can see after doing this.
    regards

  • IPhone 3GS Corrupted music files

After upgrade to iTunes 10.2.1 the phone lost all data and can't restore it. I got the firmware back in the Apple store and then return files but all music files are corrupted. Originals in the computer are correct but in iPhone they have about 30 seconds pause in every piece. I try to reload iTunes and empty and reload music library but it doesn't work.

It may mean that the header of the file or some metadata information is not consistent.
Many times people add stuff to the metadata that's not supported by the standard. Mostly on files on unknown origins.
Corrupted means that there is something wrong with the file. It may not be in the actual audio stream part of the file but it could be in the metadata, the file header or other parts.
When you re-encode the NMM will likely "fix" those errors.

  • Corrupted music files not even the support can fix it

    Try to figure this out.
    1 - I had an iphone 3GS where i had music files.
    2 - I got an iphone 4
3 - I copied all the songs i had on my 3Gs to the 4
4 - They all work fine
5 - When i copy new songs on my 4 ALL of them are corrupted
6 - When i play them on my computer all of them ARE NOT corrupted
The 3GS has gone i can't test on it.
Now, why old songs works fine on the iphone 4 but when i get new songs them are not working, but they do work fine on my computer? Hardware problems but the songs i had on my 3GS do work fine, if it was the hardwere them all should be corrupted, corrupted files but they all work fine on my computer, so they are not corrupted, transfering files from the computer to the iphone but then why only the new ones are still corrupted, where is the problem? i don't get this fixed i give up the iphones and move to android, i have enought or wasting money, the support has no idea how to fix it.Thanks.

    Hi Cassilecompte,
If you are not getting any sound from your iPhone’s speaker, you may want to troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • Possible corrupt music file on back up disc - can't restore iTunes library!

Sold old laptop last week in prep for getting new PC, backed up iTunes library onto DVD disc (whole library went on 4.7GB disc with no problems) - got new PC yesterday, downloaded iTunes 9, inserted back up disc, tried to restore but keeps getting stuck on one song and going no further. Can anyone help with any other suggestions because I'm going nuts! Can't update my iPhone as there's nothing in iTunes to update it with!

Yes, the relative location is the same, the user account has the same short and long lame as before.
I did try to use the preferences to point to the backed up itunes folder. Once when it was on the eHD and once when I put it in the music folder. Unfortunatley no luck.
I will try your idea about using "Consolidate Library"
One other interesting thing I tried a few days ago was to follow the procedure outlined in the apple support section about restoring the library. It has you move the libray xml file to the desk top, trashing one of the other files (I forgot which) and then choosing the xml file placed on the desk top upon starting itunes. I thought it was kind of odd to select the very xml file I was having trouble with so I chose the backed up xml file. It put all of the playlist folders back in duplicate, but the library was still empty (probably becuase the xml file is just a reference file and I hadn't loaded any actual music files) If the consolidate doesn't work, mabye I'll try that again, but also put the folder with the actual files on the computer as well
I'll let you know how "Consolidate" works, thanks for your suggestions!

I recently downloaded the Hoenn Pokemon Soundtrack, and along the process I got a couple of errors saying there was a connection issue when trying to download certain songs. When everything was done, I had certain songs with a little beside them that wouldn't play at all... I don't know how to get rid of them so I can reinstall them. Can anyone help me?

  • Corrupt music files..?

    Hi there
I've recently been having ALOT of trouble with iTunes. I bought a macbook a few months ago and it was working perfectly up until a few weeks ago. I download alot of music (all from rapidshare/megaupload etc). I had a rather large iTunes library, about 18 GB of music. It started to freeze alot, causing every other program i had running to freeze too. I couldn't use force quit at all, and had to hold down the power button every time. It then got to the point where simply opening iTunes caused the whole computer to freeze. A message came up to say my library was corrupt (or something to that effect). I deleted the whole library then manually loaded each album into it again. Same problem occurred. I tried a different program, Songbird, worked for maybe 3 days then started freezing exactly as iTunes did. I've resorted to listening to music on Youtube until i can sort this out, very annoying. Could it be that there are corrupt files in the music i've been downloading or something? Even now Finder and Safari occasionally freeze up which is very irritating.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, i need to get this sorted, i can't work without iTunes for much longer!

Well it sho' don't sound like the problem is in iTunes.

  • Invisible corrupted music files / progressive problem

I just discovered I have a growing corruption problem in iTunes. It seems to be affecting only songs which I have created myself from my own commercial CDs. Sons acquired over the internet are not affected.
All of my songs show up in the master list on iTunes. I am syncing to a 1st generation 4gig Nano. I am at the capacity limit or within 25 mgs below the limit. I recently realized that I wasn't listening to some of my music & I thought that was odd. I then discovered that the songs are invisible & cannot be accessed on the Nano.
I removed the songs from iTunes & trashed the files. I tried to recreate the songs again from the original comercial CD. I again found out I could not sync them to the Nano. The message I recieved was that the songs in selected playlists could not be added because they exceeded the storage amount on the Nano. iTunes indicated the total storage amount on the Library was at 3.75mgs at this point.
I found that if I deleted them again & synced, I could. So far so good.
Now I have found that even after going through the ENTIRE library and trashing every single file that appeared in the library but did not show up on my Nano, this problem is a progressive problem & is converting what I thought to be safe files into corrupted files.
What can I do about this? I am now spending 1 hr each time I want to sync & is becoming a night mare.
I also considered trashing iTunes & reinstalling, but I
    a) cannot find the root application on the HD
    b) cannot find the original iTunes older (not 7.02) application anywhere.
    mac   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Have you done the '5 R's' to your Nano? http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
FYI - the Nano will not actually hold 4 gig - it will be a little less - but you knew that.
All tunes on the Nano/iPod are 'invisible' by default when viewed via the Finder. You can view the files by using a program that will show you invisible files such as TinkerTool.
Your iTunes app should be in the Applications folder. If not then do a Spotlight search of your HD.
To find older versions of iTunes go here http://www.oldapps.com/downloadiTunesmac.php
You will need to remove from the HD>Library>Receipts>iTunesX.pkg - move the iTunesX.pkg to the trash along with the iTunes app.

  • Corrupted music files on nokia 8800

  • How to find corrupted music files causing sync problems (dotted grey circle)?

I'm having the dreaded dotted grey circle problem and it's driving me mad.  Based on what I read in the for a it could be because a new music upload is corrupted, but how do I find it, when each try to sync last two hours?  And then to de-sync again lasts another half hour, to resync again lasts another two hours ... My life is not long enough for this crap!
Often I have no idea what it's doing - "waiting for changes ..." ... should I wait hours for something happen only to realise nothing's happening??

Is that even possible? We're talking about a 6-year-old iPod thereabouts.
