Because the location for each song in your library is on your hard drive. If the hard drive isn't there, how can iTunes play it?
You'll have to move/copy the music from your hard drive to your computer's hard drive.
Basically, EASIEST way to do all this, if you don't care about your play counts, etc...
-Delete EVERYTHING from iTunes, so that your library is now empty.
-Go to "Advanced" inside of the "Preferences" window, found in the "Edit" drop-down. You can also access Preferences by pressing Ctrl+, (Press Ctrl and the comma key)
-Change your iTunes Media Folder Location to something simple, but on your computer. I use C:/iTunes. Make sure "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" and "Copy files to...." are both checked. You can close Preferences now.
-Now, drag and drop your music from your hard drive into your iTunes library. iTunes will automatically add the music to your library, as you would expect, and also creates a copy of each file to place into that iTunes Media Folder you just created.
Shouldn't have any more problems... -
Download from loop masters says "The requested URL was not found on this server.
I'm downloading some audio files from http://www.loopmasters.com/ but whenever I try, in the download progress in the top right corner of safari, it'll stop downloading and say "The requested URL was not found on this server." There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to where in the download it'll stop. The first time got 37.3% of the way through, the second time got barely 12% (but my computer went to sleep this time,) and the last time it got to 34.8%. I can't do any more attempts because this website will only let me download it five times. Is there anything that's going wrong on my end, perhaps? Or is it likely just their servers being all wonky?

I bought an iphone 4s. After plugging it via usb to my computer itunes demanded to update version to 10.3 or higher. I uninstalled itunes, downloaded latest version (11.0.2) and during installation process on "activating services" it shows error message: "installation failed, verify administrator priviliges" which i have because i sign in as my pc administrator. I click on ignore and it tells me itunes has been succesfully instaled but when i try to run it it shows the error message: "apple application support was not found. It is required to run itunes. Uninstall and install itunes again. (which i have done several times) error 2 (windows error 2)." Someone please help me with this problem. Thanks.
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?

I have been getting the message from time to time over the last couple of weeks. I just click through, and the download haooens anyway. The other day I looged onto my accout in apple.com, and it simply wanted me to verify the ccv on the credit card.
I am glas your solution worked, but I am not sure you needed to do a full wipe and reinstall. There is some goofy stuff going on with the store, but nothing you can't get by. -
Foxfire won't open message says Error:App: Name not specified in application.ini
That is all...I can't get Foxfire to open. The error message stops it when I click ok it goes away. I ran my Symantex protection last night and now Foxfire won't open.
Do a clean (re)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox. -
hard drive died two weeks ago and had it replaced by an authorized dealer.
Previous to this disaster, I had firefox and had no problems.The latest 9.0.1 version is not compatible with your ppc mac os.

i have just downloaded 407pics from my 4s. i turned off phone then turn on after 3-4 min. I looked at Camera to ensure that all pices were gone and their is still 129 photos and 29 videos ( no Album) . when i then plugged the Phone back in to download these pics the lap top does not recognize any pics left on the phone?
Help!!!Your photos will not be touched, but your computer might recognize the photos again after that.

Can I compress my songs in itunes - currently my 1600 songs are taking up 14 GB of room - I was told that the nano 8 GB could hold up to 2000 songs - is there a reason that my 1600 are taking up so much space. Someone suggested removing the album covers - is there a was to compress the songs I have out there.
1600 songs... it depends the individual size of each track. Not all tracks take up the same storage space.
If you want to have all 1600 tracks on one iPod, you need a larger iPod. -

Try contacting Apple through the Contact Apple Support site and letting them know about the problem.

I updated to iTunes 12 and didn't like it. Followed advice to revert to 11.1. Now my iPhone 5 won't sync and error message says I need iTunes 11.2 or higher. Apple Download choices didn't have anything between 11.1.5 and 12. What can I do? Using iTunes 12 is not an option. Many features I used for audiobooks have disappeared.
The version immediately prior to 12 was 11.4.0.18. Here are direct download links from Apple's servers:
