Were you able to find a solution to this issue? I am also getting the 'an error has occurred' message when trying to download or update any apps on my iPhone. Restarted, updated, re-booted, etc etc, nothing has worked.

what does "unknown error has occurred" mean when trying to login to the app store

    Welcome to the Apple forums.
Good idea to fill out your profile so people can see what machine you are writing about.
Also a good idea to do a little research through the 'More like this' panel to the right of your initial post.    Each of the threads also contains more leads so it is amazing how much you can learn from them.
    Good hunting.

  • Error An unknown error has occurred when adding email to Apple ID

I am trying to merge two Apple ID's into one. On one I changed the primary email address to an unused email address so I can take the former primary email address and add that email adress to the second Apple ID. When I try to add the email address that used to be the primary email address of the first Apple ID to the second Apple ID (either as a change to the main email address or add a secondary email address) I get the error "An unknown error has occurred." When I go back into the first Apple ID it will add that original email address as a primary or secondary account without any issues. But I get the same error if I try and add that original email address to any other Apple ID (I even tried adding it to a third Apple ID). It would appear that an email address used as an Apple ID cannot be used with any other Apple ID account. Is that correct?

Apple’s having trouble with the Mac App Store and iTunes App Store right now. Try again later.

  • Trying to download Maverick, and keep getting "an unknown error has occurred'

Trying to install maverick, keep getting 'an unknown error has occured' message when I try to login to my apple account

Just saw the post from makras.
There are always a few problems with a new OS. Apple can't police every maker of crapware that's on the planet.
If you have a WD external drive, I would transfer (not clone) the files from it to another non-WD external drive that doesn't have crapware on it, and then erase the WD drive, and then never ever again buy a WD drive.
You will find many posts on the Apple Discussions from disgruntled narcissists (a few borderlines too) who blame Mavericks for their computer problems.
Mavericks is excellent (at least for me).
Every new OS has some incompatibilities with older software. That's why if someone is an early adopter, they should understand this, and if they have a low tolerance for frustration, or are uncomfortable with basic mac maintenance and troubleshooting, they should not be an early adopter.
Seems like the vast majority of problems that people complain about on the forums are related to crapware they have acquired on their computers from previous installations and promiscuous downloading habits.

  • I got "Invalid link" when I to reset my security questions from rescue email. Moreover when I log in into my Apple ID and click on Passwords and Security I'm thrown out with the message "An unknown error has occurred".

    Here is my problem:
Need to change my email with the one that currently I'm using for rescue
Planed to change first the rescue email with a new one.
    But:
    I Forgot the security questions
Followed the reset security questions instructions.
Got the email on the rescue address but The link I've got on my rescue email to reset my security questions is invalid. By now the 3 hour window for the validity of the link is gone.
If I go via Apple ID, I login successfully but when I select Security I'm thrown back into Manage your Apple ID screen that displays now as well this message "An unknown error has occurred"
Tried several times, the same again and again.
On top of the long hours on the forums I spent 20 minutes over the phone with the US support on  international charge, eventually I hanged up while waiting too long for the 3 rd expert but got an email later on indicating to clear my browser history and try again, which didn't work. Case number 519598448. Used my laptop with IE and my iPad, same result.

This problem now appears for me too.
When using iforgot.apple.com email-verification clicking the reset link results in the "Invalid Link" error.
The error, that caused me to do this (password failing to verify against iCloud) has vanished since though.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When the camera is connected to an Apple Macintosh computer, a prompt appears that says an update is available for the PMB Portable software. IMPORTANT:

Select the option to Update Nowin the PMB Portable window.
Download and save the PMB Portable update PMBPMAC12_Upgrade1004a.dmgfor Mac.
After completely downloading the update, close the PMB Portable window. Make sure the application is closed by removing or ejecting the UNTITLED or NO NAME icon on the desktop. However, leave the PMBPORTABLE icon.
Close any other unnecessary applications that may be running on the computer.
Open the PMBPORTABLE icon on the desktop.
