HT203421 Mountain Lion download has messed up my calendar. One calendar is missing on my MAc but not on my ipad or iPhone

Mountain Lion download has messed up my calendar. One calendar is missing on my Mac but not on my ipad or iPhone

OKAY FOLKS, I found the answer.  I figured the only explination could be with my iCloud Account.  I tried EVERYTHING, read every discussion on this topic.  It WASN'T b/c I had an old Mobile Me account.  It WASN'T b/c I didn't have the sttings right.  I rebooted, erased data, EVERYTHING.  The only solution was to create a NEW iCloud account - I chose a new address through Apple (me.com).  Even though I already have a me.com email address and a different Apple ID I figured starting fresh was the only way.  Sadly, I lost all of my calendar data (when I tried to import my old calendar data from a backup it was associated with the old iCloud account and could not be edited) but my contacts were saved.  I just re-entered my calendar information... figured this would be less time consuming than trying to reboot and research the issue 10 more hours!
Here are the steps I used:
1- iCloud was OFF on my iPhone to start
2- Export your iCal and iContacts data from your Mac to a backup (you WILL lose your data)
3- On iPhone went to Settings, iCloud and went through the proper steps to set up a new iCloud account with a NEW email address (me.com)
4- On iMac under System Preferences I deleted my OLD iCloud account (it will prompt you stating you will lose your data or you can merge/save).  The only way I could get it to work was to accept the warning it was going to delete everything
5- Set up a NEW iCloud account on my Mac with the NEW me.com account I set up on my iPhone.  Somehow my Contacts were kept in tact, uploaded to iCloud and to my iPhone.  Had issues with my iCal data, but I entered all the information manually.
Everything is syncing great!  Haven't set this up yet on my iPad but will do that next.  I'm hopeful!!

  • My mountain lion download has stuck at 53.25M.

Mountain lion stuck in dowmload mode. Wont go past this , despite resarting my iMac. Can anyone help?

I was also getting stuck at 53.25mb and tried several solutions on the forum.
A possible reason I have found is if you are (as I am) on BT Broadband using a 2-Wire Hub because there is apparently a 2GB download limit (not heard this of this before). I read this on MacRumors and that BT plan to release a firmware upgrade to sort the problem.
In the meantime I switched to another non-BT wireless network in the same building and hey presto the download is flying.
Haven't tried the hotspot shield solution.

  • Can someone pls help me with java on my macbook pro because after i download the mountain lion java has died and i need java to see streaming quotes from stock market

can someone pls help me with java on my macbook pro because after i download the mountain lion java has died and i need java to see streaming quotes from stock market

Java is no longer included in Mac OS X by default. If you want Java, you will have to install it.
However, note that you should think twice before installing Java for such a trivial need as looking at stock market quotes. There are other ways to get that information that don't involve Java, and using Java in your web browser is a HUGE security risk right now. Java has been vulnerable to attack almost constantly for the last year, and has become a very popular, frequently used method for getting malware installed via "drive-by downloads." You really, truly don't want to be using it. See:
    Java is vulnerable… Again?!

  • Mountain Lion download problems with Lion 10.7.5 (no VirusBarrier issue)

I have a mid-2009 Macbook Pro. From the factory it came with Snow Leopard but has since been upgraded to Lion OS X 10.7.5. I do not have VirusBarrier, I am writing from a recently clean-installed Lion.
I have now been troubleshooting my Mac for several days. When I wrote first, I had an issue with Safari having been damaged and so I wasn't able to reinstall Lion - but after a certain extremely helpful community member I finally succeeded in installing Lion.
But the issues with the App Store still persist. All my Mountain Lion downloads fail, getting the error message "can't verify, might be corrupted" what many here have also been getting. However, most solutions were related to VirusBarrier (which I don't have), or /var/folders errors (Console does not show any var-related errors).
So if it's not a var-related issue, or related to firewalls or virus softwares (I have disabled the Firewall and I have no virus software installed), what could it be?
When the download and install of ML failed last time, Console showed the following messages:
    11/30/12 11:54:44.617 AM com.apple.SecurityServer: Failed to authorize right 'system.install.app-store-software' by client '/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PackageKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/in stalld' [235] for authorization created by '/System/Library/CoreServices/Software Update.app' [567]

It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading.}
...and a bit later, upon re-starting the download:
    11/30/12 12:29:40.515 PM com.apple.SecurityServer: Failed to authorize right 'system.install.apple-software' by client '/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/PackageKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/in stalld' [817] for authorization created by '/Applications/App Store.app' [781]

    Problem elimination:
    * I don't think this is a router-related issue: I have downloaded and installed other softwares outside App Store successfully
    * As said, I don't think this has anything to do with Firewall or Virus settings
    * Nor has this anything to do with /var/folders as far as I can tell
    What I've tried so far:
    * Repaired disk permissions several times
    * Rebooted
    * Restarted App Store
    * Following one advise found on the net, I deleted preflight.pfpkg just in case
    * All the time I have made sure my OS has the most recent Software Updates installed (most of them downloaded successfully, while with Safari and OS 10.7.5. I had to try several times before they were downloaded succesfully)
I just reinstalled my OS X Lion, only to use it to jump on to Mountain Lion - so I am pending my migration until ML is installed. I would like to fix this soon, since I'd like to get the migration done and my real work started. I would really appreciate your help.
I'm not very adept at using Console or Terminal to troubleshoot, so if someone could guide me through the problem identification, that would be great. Unless someone already knows exactly what's going wrong and can show me a working solution - that'd save my day!
    Thanks!

In cases like this, if you have an Apple store near by, they will most likely install the OS free of charge for you, if you can't bring your Apple ID along to prove you've paid for it.
Would that work out for you?

  • HT4718 Can't find iLife after Mountain Lion download?

After my mountain lion download (done by a genius at the apple store so I know I didn't mess it up!), ilife isn't here. It's also not under the "purchase" section of the app store like support.apple.com says it should be. help?

New Macs come with iLife. However, if you did a clean install you're not going to have iLife.
However, the original install disk that came with your Mac should have an iLife installer included.

  • Mountain Lion download on multiple (family) computers

Downloaded OS upgrade to Air. How do I install to family iMac? Understood that the license for the Mountian Lion allows download of the OS for up to 5 family devices.

If you purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store then you can install it on all the computers you own. There is no limitation as long as you own them all.
You must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed on each computer. Sign in to the App Store from each computer using the same Apple ID used to purchase Mountain Lion. You will then be able to re-download for free.
Or if you saved the Mountain Lion installer applcation then you can do this:
    Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
You now have a Mountain Lion installer you can use for each computer now or whenever you need to reinstall Mountain Lion.

  • I lost Power while I was 50% through on my Free Mountain Lion Download.

I lost Power while I was 50% through on my Free Mountain Lion Download. Restarted my system and did not find the Download on my Launchpad. Is there anyway I can continue that download? Tried refilling the form, no Luck Though!
The form says I have already claimed my Free Code for my MacMini Serial!
I live in India and this is a very common problem I am guessing! Slow Internet Speeds and Power Issues!

By install i presume you mean add it to the bottom of the machine ?
Yes, and it's rather easy to do too.
Your machine has two slots. These are the specs for a 2008 iMac (if your machine is different then check with Crucial.com and they will match the correct RAM for your machine)
    Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
So all you need to do is visit Crucial.com or OtherWorld Computing to order it, and OtherWorld Computing has install videos.
Here is one on YouTube. Easy pleasy.
Just make sure to discharge any static electricity and not touch the contacts, just the plastic edges.

  • HT1338 Mountain Lion download problems

Tried to get Mountain Lion download/install on my computer.  Got message "An error has occured" so can't download.  Computer is up to date with plenty of space.

Went to Genius Bar.  Solved my problem but I'm not sure how helpful.  He ran some diagnostics (hardware diagnostic progeam; Mac Disk Utility for Hard Drive Verication and repair.  Don't think he found much wrong.  Then, he went for download on their connection, which worked just fine.  He explained it was because of the extremely fast download connection.  So, I guess you have to get your Mac to somewhere with a super-fast connection (Apple store, but also our local libraries have a very fast connection) for download.
That's all for this problem, as far as I can tell.  Over and out.

  • How many machines can I install on with one Mountain Lion download?

I want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but I have both an iMac and a MacBook Pro.  Do I have to buy two Mountain Lion downloads - one for each, or can I somehow download twice after paying once?
    Judy

Actually, having made the same claim a couple of days ago and being proven completely wrong, I have a certain responsibility to correct you by mentioning that there is no limit to how many machines ML can be installed on, as long as you own or control those machines.

  • Slow internet after mountain lion download

web pages open slowly or not at all after mountain lion download

I'm having the same problem but only at home with a slow internet service.  At work with faster internet my macbook pro works fine.  I wonder if Mountain Lion requires some minimum internet speed?  Our old macbook pro (not using Mountain Lion) still works fine with our slow home internet.  This change happened when I installed Mountain Lion.  Also I can boot from by back up disk and bypass Mountain Lion and work with my slow internet at home. ???

  • Error with Mountain Lion Download on the App Store

Hi there, I've come across an error which I've been unable to solve and have not found similar instances/references on the forums: I bought Mountain Lion and started downloading. I have several laptops, so I also started downloading on my main laptop. In the mean time, the first download was very slow and had 9 hours to go. The second laptop, started later, had 30 mins to go. I realized the first one was connected to my slower home wi fi (I have two), so I interrupted the download  and tried to re-download it once I connected to the fast wi-fi. When I tried to press download again, I had an error. Next to that error, a "X" (for cancel) came up.
Then, the oddest thing happened and Mountain Lion was removed from my purchases!
After that, I went back into purchases and when I clicked "buy" it just said "You've already purchased this, click here to download". When I did that, I got this screen. Now, nothing happens. I just get stuck here.
I've installed Mountain Lion on the other laptop (the second one) and it seems to be working fine.
I looked online and there was a supposed fix: to download a Lion Combo 10.7.4. I did, but when I tried to instal it, it just said that it requires a version of Lion 10.7.3. or earlier... I have 10.7.4, so this did not work.
    Any help?
    Many thanks!!!

  • After Mountain Lion download, FaceTime is not working anymore. Any ideas?

After Mountain Lion download, FaceTime is not working anymore. Any ideas?

I have reinstalled mountain Lion again . This time, Facetime works when somebody calls me, and I can do calls from my Mac again. But the problem was still that I was not able to call my iPad, what I was able to do with Lion (I had one Apple-ID and two call adresses). The solution was this time to generate a second Apple-ID from the Facetime in my Mac (this doesn't affect your main Apple-ID, it's only used for Facetime). Now, it works!  ;-)
