HT203477 New Itunes causes crashing problems with FCP X
Since I uptdated my OS X and iTunes, I am experiencing several crashes of my Imac 27. Anyone has the some problems ? Any solutions ?

Most likely. These "antiviruses" often cause more harm than they prevent.

New iTunes, same sync problems with Vista

I got really excited when I saw in the fixes for the latest iTunes 8.1 for Windows that they had fixed sync problems with iPhones. They haven't!
On Vista Ultimate the sync has always been a problem, with either OutlookSyncClient or AppleMobileSync (or both) frequently crashing. With the previous couple of versions of iTunes, in my case, it has happened every third or fourth sync. Now with the new version it is almost every sync. It took me five disconnect and reconnect attempts and a couple of reboots to succcessfully sync this morning.
I've tried every fix I can find on line. I read that the Outlook sync problem was caused by an incompatibility with pst files that were not unicode. Oddly, I wasn't supposed to be able to sync with an old pst at all, but it did work erratically. Converting my pst to unicode didn't make any difference.
With the AppleMobileSync problem, I read that completely removing all Apple software in a particular order, restarting each time between removals, then clean reinstalling, should solve the problem. It didn't.
Now the problem is even worse and I'm at my wits end on it. Come on Apple, get a grip!
If anyone can shed any light on this I would be really grateful!

Update to OS 10.6.5 causing video problems with FCP
I stupidly updated to 10.6.5 this morning and ever since all video displayed in FCP appears to be underexposed by 5 or more stops. To give you an idea, it looks as if I applied 3-way color corrector and crushed the blacks 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down. This happens to all video in both the canvas and viewer window no matter what project I have opened. At first I thought maybe it was a problem with my graphics card but all of my qt files play fine. And if I go to the clips I am referencing in FCP they are fine when viewed through quicktime. I have tried the following:
move media to a different location and reference from there
install the combo version of OS 10.6.5
trashing my preferences in FCP
completely reinstalling FCP
none of these have worked.
I assume the other idea would be to reinstall my OS back to 10.6.4 but then I would have to wipe my hard drive right?
Very frustrating because I am in them middle of a project and now I can't work.Someone will say "Restore your backup, the backup you made before you upgraded to 10.6.5." Just warning you.
I'm also using 10.6.5 but I've not seen what you're describing. Maybe something is that more specific to your setup is causing it. If you export a QuickTime movie is it also fine or is your video output fine? If it is then you can keep working, because you know that the problem isn't affecting your output.
Going back to 10.6.4 may be the thing to do, and yes you'll need to wipe your drive. So back up your system as it is now just in case the 10.6.4 reinstall fails spectacularly. -

have some problems with new RAM for my G5. With the original 4 x 256 RAM everything's going fine, but as soon as I correctly stick in the new 2 x 1 GB (Mac Dealer bought), my mac's going crazy (crashes or not being able to install and so on...) Changed the new RAM allready at my Mac Dealer, things remain the same. Does anybody have an idea?Have you made sure the RAM is properly seated?
If it is, contact the Mac dealer and inform them they have a bad batch of RAM. -
Does anybody know if Windows 8 is causing a problem with iTunes? Many songs on my old iPod are now missing in my iTunes library and I can't find them anywhere. . Also, I have a new iPod and am afraid of using it for fear of something else going wrong.
Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

New Windows 7 computer. After installing Firefox, every time I bring it up I get the following message:

Turn off Private Browsing.
Tap "Private" on Safari Screen to disable Private Browsing. When top of screen is white, Private Browsing is off. -
A message advising a new Itunes terms and conditions is pop up even after my agree and acceptance... Is there a problem in Itunes? same problem with deferent devices
Just Can't download, buy or even update apps...I use only one Apple ID and only one ID. I did have to change the password at one point but I had no issues at all with updating apps after I changed the password.
If you can download new apps with the ID that you changed the password for, I would think that you will be able to update apps associated with that ID as well.
Did you try restarting the iPad after signing out of the one account and then sign in to the other account/accounts? -

I uninstalled the browser and download a new version but it does not resolve the issue.
I know my hard disc has ample space. I do NOT know where to find the Profile directory to fix the read restriction box.

I have duplicate pictures in "my catalog" that I believe come from two Adobe folders found under "my pictures/adobe/ one is Revel and the other is Photoshop express which preceded revel. Can I delete those two folder without causing a problem with my catalog?

If you are willing to continue helping, here's what I found.
Just to clarify the two iTunes folders I am refering to are:
username-->Music-->iTunes
HD-->iTunes
I am presuming each location has a full set of files as outlined in the above links?
Not all the files are in both locations. Most are.
- The Itunes folder in my home folder does not have itunes library.xml.
- The Itunes folder in my home folder has a subfolder called Mobile Applications (username-->Music-->iTunes--> Mobile application). The Itunes folder at the HD level also has a Mobile Application folder but it is a subfolder of Itunes Media folder (HD-->iTunes--> iTunes Media-->Mobile applications) and has no files in it.
- I do not have an iTunes Media in the iTunes folder in my home folder.
- also the Itunes media folder (HD-->iTunes--> iTunes Media) has subfolders by type (books, movies, itunes u, music etc...) but the iTunes Media-->Music also has some of the same subfolders ( iTunes Media-->Music-->books, iTunes Media-->Music-->Movies, iTunes Media-->Music-->iTunes U). Is this normal repetition?

but it is important to note what comes before all that.
There is nothing as far as I can tell before that first forward slash. Since the only iTunes Media folder I have is in the iTunes folder that resides at the HD level (HD-->iTunes--> iTunes Media folder) not the iTunes folder in my home folder (username-->Music-->iTunes) , I assume that's the one that holds the music.
Keep iTunes media folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library are both checked on

I used to sync my iphone to a laptop which is no longer in my posession. I am now looking to start over and have a new itunes on my pc with no music on it. When i connect my iphone up to the new itunes it doesn't recognise it or sync - can anyone help me?
The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version. You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes. Or you can adapt to the new look.

Firefox 4 is absolutely awful - it is causing massive problems with my computer. How do I uninstall Firefox 4 and go back to the previous version of Firefox?
According to the instructions given on the Norton Community forum under "Other Norton Products/Comcast-Customers - Norton Toolbar Problem in Firefox 10", I have done everything necessary. And I do have a Norton toolbar (Safe Web and Identity Safe) when I open Firefox 10. As was mentioned in the previous posts here, you need to run manual LiveUpdate then reboot until you have version 5.2.0.13. Then reboot and run manual LiveUpdate again and reboot once more. One thing that I noticed is that Norton never told me that it had updated the patch for Firefox 10, so I didn't know. I guess if you have the toolbar when you run Firefox 10, then you have done it all.

I keep getting the following dialogue box when I start Firefox " Could not initialise the application's security component. The most probable cause is problems with files in your browser's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions." I am not sure how to find or change the profile directory. I have gone to the Options: General: Save files to ...box but it wont allow me to browse to another file and the box remains blank. ideas please!
