HT203521 Why such a delay in the sync function of iCal ?

I am running a MacBookPro and iPhone5S. I have been successfully using iCloud and iCal for several years now across numerous iPhones and just in the last 3 days, I can load an appointment into my MBP and several hours later it still does not appear on the iPhone calendar.
I have tried resetting the devices. I have turned iCloud off and on, on both devices separately and simultaneously, nothing is getting me back to instantaneous syncing. I used to be able to load my MBP and then watch my iPhone make the identical update sitting alongside me. This is incredibly frustrating right now. Especially when I load data into a calendar event to take to a meeting and then its not there when I have walked 30 minutes to the appointment.
Anyone have some advice ?

I understand that your iCloud calendar is not syncing as you would expect and you have already completed some great troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the situation. Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

Well, since you've had the same problem, with three different phones, that all use different size sim cards, it seems pretty obvious the problem is with your carrier/coverage & nothing to do with your phone or sim card.

The thing that I am having a problem with is that I made a different form that calculates the average no matter how may of the cells have numbers or not and I didn't use an if function. I have tried with this other form and and it calulates as if all the cells where being used. I am using the [*] in both instances but it only works in the one I did earlier.

Say I sync 100gb of photos with the new Photos app and turn on sync on a 16gb iphone. Will it fill the device up to 16gb? Can I tell it to limit to xgb so I leave room for music and apps? How does this work? Will it slow down my phone if its trying to sync 100gb across smaller devices?

"Will the Apple TV now read directly from the Time Capsule?" ATV does not 'read' from the TC. It connects to the Mac and itunes library associated with the Mac. Of course the itunes program can 'point' to a library on the TC. You'll still need to have itunes open and the Mac powered on and not sleeping with the TC mounted to the Desktop to use ATV properly. So bottom line the use of TC just adds one more step to view files on the ATV.

Why such a delay in On Demand programming

I've been waiting for 2 weeks for The Walking Dead. There is over a week delay in the .latest episodes of Bob's Burgers, American Horror Story as well. This is ridiculus. I was told it would take 24-48 hours for the shows to post. And for a long time that was accurate. But the delay has gotten longer and longer. The content is available by the networks on their websites but I have Verizon service because I prefer to watch tv on my TV!!! Please update this content!!!

I can't speak for the other shows, but Bob's Burgers has only had one new episode this season (10/5), which has been up On Demand since the week it aired. So you can't complain about shows not showing up On Demand when they haven't even aired.

I'm trying to find out why there is such a difference
in query finish times and how to improve the time.
ftp is fast between the machines.
The network folks say everthing is ok there though
the sniffer sees many Parses.
Changing the arraysize in SQL*Plus makes no real diff.
When running a query to a spool file on the local
windows 2000 machine the time to finish the job is
aprox 1 min.
When the same query to a spool file is run connecting
from a remote machine (Sun Solaris) - the time is aprox 5 Min.
Both are run in SQL*Plus, 8.1.7
both are selecting * form a table with 95,000 rows.

I've seen this happen on rare occasions when a table is very wide due to having lots of columns or because of
how the columns are defined and the overall row length is long. Does this describe your table? I'm not sure what
the solution really is if that's the case. I've seen the speed/memory of the computer make a difference when this
does happen. I know we had a user running a wide query in an app complain about the time it took to run and we
found out it took 2-3 minutes on their PC, 2 seconds on the server and anywhere between 8 seconds and 3 minutes
to run on the client side depending on the PC.

Why does Firefox remember the pages I've visited, even though I am using different computers? I've never used the sync function. I don't want my computer at work to be synched with my personal computer at home

My computer at work remembers the pages I've visited even though I visited the pages while I was using my computer at my home. I don't know how or why this is happening, and I don't like that it is in sync with my computer at home - I have never used that function.
For example - When I type in "the methodist hospital" into the search bar using the computer at home, all the search results come up from Google, so I click on the links and take a look around on the websites/pages. The next day, I walk into work, and I type in "the methodist hospital" again in the search bar, and when the results come up - it indicates in gray lettering that "[I] visited this page [yesterday's date]."
Please explain why this is happening and what I must do in order for it to stop. It is scary knowing that my browsing history is remembered using 2 completely different computers. Needless to say, I don't want my boss thinking I'm just surfing the web all day at work.

if i have to read any comment by matt n again i will throw up...in my mouth. i have gone all over google trying to figure out what the f ff did to me without my permission, i have updates turned off so there should be no prompting to restart, there should be a polite offer not a forced update. i am angry and so are a ton of people.
everytime i go to a new complaint, another angry fellow ff user there is matt n with his infuriating smiling little picture...telling me about the awesome safety and security of the new ff...ignoring that a supposed safe but ugly and unusable browser is worse than a customized, beautiful, well functioning browser...with supposed safety issues. i am so angry i cannot express how this has wasted my time. i have been online for 2 hours now figuring out how to fix, apparently i cannot. my old theme is not compatible now...so i am screwed.
good bye. if i wanted chrome i would have had chrome. but i have no choice now.

Why is the Sync functionality so terrible?

I just tried to sync two movies from my computer to my iPod Touch and instead iTunes just wiped out all of my music on the iPod.
All I want is to be able to sync across more than one computer. Now I have to go back to my desktop and hope that the music is still somewhere on there (I had to reinstall a bit back b/c a virus). I just don't understand who synching videos automatically means you want iTunes to run rampant on your iPod or why iTunes will wipe out music (not from the iTunes store) from my iPod rather than copying it to my computer.
Has anyone gotten sync to work the way they wanted? If so, how?

Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
The iTunes/iPod model has always been to support automatic sync to just one iTunes library. "Syncing", apart from store purchases, is also one way - library to device. Earlier models have also supported a *manual management* mode (i.e. turn off the Automatically sync... option) which allows content to be added from whichever library the iPod is connected to. For reasons beyond our ken Apple have changed, either by accident or design, the manual management behaviour on the iPhone and iPod Touch. While letting you drag tracks on or off the device, when the device is actually updated it goes on to check that each track you have on the device is also in the current library. If not it is removed from the device. This behaviour is not transparent and has no doubt confused more than a few users, particularly those familiar with older models.
I believe that some of the 3rd party content managers behave differently but I've not tested any personally.

I have two machines (10.40.15.88 and 10.40.15.90) in cluster weblogic server in which i have admin and 1 managed server in one linux box (10.40.15.88) and the other managed server in another box (10.40.15.90). When access BPM Workspace in 10.40.15.88, all the operations appears. But, when access BPM Workspace in 10.40.15.90, the operations don't appears.
It seems that the information is not being replicated properly in the nodes.
Can anyone put some light on this?

Do you understand what a connection pool is and how it works at all?
It is a pool of open connections. It therefore perfectly fine and appropriate for their to be open connections from your pool to your database once you have returned them to the pool. These connections will be kept alive for a period of time (in your case apparently 15 minutes) to serve the next request for a connection from the pool.
This is really the whole point of using a connection pool. Reuse.

From an iMac Intel Core i7 running Mac OS 10.7 and Firefox 7.0.1 I'm trying to sync to a Power Mac G5 running Mac OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.23, the highest versions available for non-Intel Macs. Is the sync function available between these two computers?

Why can't i use the ftp functions with a built file

I have created a report program that connects to an MS Access database and generates a series of reports from it. i also wanted to give the user the ability to download the database. we haev the database stored on a server at a different building. i have used the labview FTP function in the internet tool kit. the program works fine in the development mode. however if i build an application the ftp call fails to work. i have added traps so that if i get an error i will know it. unfortunatly the program flows through with no errors but the database is not copied.
i have also written an ftp function which works in the development mode and the application mode with no installer, but it does not work in the apli
cation mode with an installer.

Why can't I use the "pinch" function on my trackpad on my macbook to enlarge the text on webpages?

Before I upgraded to the new firefox, I could "pinch" my trackpad on my macbook to enlarge texts. Now I can't.

You can type about:config in the location bar and press the Enter key to open the about:config page. That is a special page that show all preferences of Firefox in a long list. You can accept the warning that you will be careful.
If you type [b]gesture[/b] in the Filter bar that shows at the top of that page then you get a list of the browser.gesture prefs.
You can double click each of the browser.gesture.pinch. prefs and change their values from an empty string to the indicated value.
