After updating my  iPad to IOS 8.1.2, I am unable to access the Cloud with my password, even though it worked on my Macmini.  I changed the password and it still does not work on the iPad.  What can I do to get iPad to recognize my Apple ID/password account?

I would be helpful to know what those "basic steps" you have already tried are, but lacking that information:
Settings app > iTunes & App Stores - sign out of your AppleID
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
Sign back into your AppleID (same location as noted above)

    You can not setup a new iCloud account using a PC. You must use an Apple device (Mac or iPhone/iPad) to create the account, then sign into it using your PC.

    Hi, I work for a software development company that does iOS apps. Once iOS7 beta came out I downloaded it. Both my iPhone and iPad are not synchronized with the developer ID but my personal ID, however, my two devices where registered with the developer ID from my company.
    Now I'm getting the activation error and have no idea what to do, as there are really no options.
    What should I do? I really am a developer and wasn't using the iOS7 beta in any wrong way.

  • I'm using iA Writer on my new iPad. I've opted to store doc's from this app on iCloud. Now I'm unable to access iCloud and retrieve my doc's so I can continue writing. Needless to say this is very frustrating. Is there a solution for this issue?

    iA Writer on iDevice: 
    Look at the Storage List, there should be an iCloud entry (along with iPad/iPod/iPhone, and Dropbox).  Choose iCloud to get a list of documents.
    To write a new file:  Be sure to have iCloud chosen in Storage.  Create new doc, write and click on the Storage list.  File is written to iCloud.
    iA Wrtier on Mac: 
    Write file and save locally, then choose: File>iCloud>Move to iCloud.
    To read a file:  File>iCloud>[choose file name]
    I should add that files read by iA Writer must be files created by iA Writer, either on same device/computer or another.

    I may have misunderstood your post.  If my ipad is not connected to the internet, I can still open a file I had saved on iCloud (only this is the "local" copy of it).  When I'm done, it's saved locally but when I turn on wifi and access the file again and then press the Storage List icon, the file is saved to iCloud.  Are you saying that you can't open a local copy when not connected to wifi?

    If you haven't got the current version of iTunes installed in your computer then download and install it (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) , and you should then be able to reset your iPad and restore/resync your content to it.

  • I'm new to I-phones. Got one and guess I synced my hotmail account.  Since then changed my hotmail password once and my i-phone locked until the new password was entered.  Worked fine. Had to change my password again-won't accept it - locked phone-help!

    I'll warn you I amd not I-phone savy at all...I don't know which I phone I have and am not near it at the moment to see what it says on the cover..got it in the fall of 2011. I guess I must have synced hot mail with it and now it's locked and I can't use my phone at all.  I've reentered numerous times making sure that caps are caps, etc. Will attempt to reset hotmail password again and see if a new one will work.  I was able to do this one time.

    If you have set up an iCloud account you will see Delet Account at the bottom (see image below).  If you don't, you haven't set up iCloud.

    Excuse me barging in on the thread, but I have a lot of experience with Telus, and roaming with my BlackBerry (currently a Z10).  In short, you've been fed some outdated info by the Telus rep. Telus has become very Android-centric, and it seems like a good number of Telus CSR's are still reading from a Legacy BlackBerry trouble-shooting guide.
    My Z10 is unlocked, and I periodically use an AT&T sim when traveling in the US.  I have never had to change an email setting to get full email function -- including the SMTP settings.  To put it simply, your device first connects to a network using credentials provided.  At most hotels, for instance, your device will scan for and pick up a WiFi network.  The hotel will tell you the WiFi network name and give you a password to use.  You simply enter the password when prompted, then you may have to agree to certain conditions.  That's it.
    Your email settings are just that.  Using whichever network to which you are connected, the user name and password give you access.  The settings coincide with the email provider's server settings.  These don't typically change with the location from which you are connecting.
    I'd suggest you take a look at this very helpful email settings tool provided by BlackBerry, if you are having difficulty:  http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2013/03/email-account-validation-tool/
    It helps you determine the possible settings for connecting to your email provider.  Different providers offer different connection options, sometimes more than one.  Opinions vary, but my preference in descending order is:  ActiveSync, IMAP, then POP if required.  ActiveSync (aka EAS) and IMAP will offer 2-way sync.

    Try reinstall iPhoto:
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
    2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
    A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
    If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
    If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
    If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
    If that fails then I think you need to reinstall the OS.

    I tried to change the password of an encrypted 'Sparse Bundle' disk image but it seems Disk Util doesn't let me choose this type of disk image for the Change Password function (Menu Imgaes->Change Password...)
    How am I supposed to change the password? Do I really have to create a new disk image with a new password and copy the old one? (I'm using the 256 bits encryption)

    There is no error. Just nothing happens. The problem is a little different for the sparse image and the sparse bundle image. When using the menu command Images->Change Password... you get a file dialog where you must point to the image. The sparse image is selectable (not grayed) but when selected nothing else happens. The sparse bundle image is grayed out in the file dialog so you can't even select it.
    Something else. When creating a new blank disk image it shows up in the left pane of the Disk Utility app. But after unmounting the images I'm left with Disk1, Disk2 in this list. Re-mounting doesn't change that. It seems rather useless as you can't do anything with them.
    All this happens consistently on multiple Mac's, all with 10.5.2
