HT204022 deleting photos on iPhone

This is frustrating. Why would Apple not allow you to turn off sync then delete photos from your iPhone? Frankly that type of juvenile attitude is enough to make me trade in the iPhone for another mobile device.
I got rid of my old laptop that photos were on. Why to I have to jump through hoopes to delete photos on my phone. VERY annoying.
Looks like I probably have to install iTunes on another computer, then go through the sync routine to get all photos off my phone. Perhaps I only want to take off selected photos. Why can't I just delete them? I see a lot of posts about this so many others also have this frustrating problem. I have a lot better things to do with my time than research how to delete a photo from my phone.

The only photos that do not give you the option to delete are photos that were synced to your device from a computer using iTunes.  These photos can only be removed by deselecing them on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

Cannot delete photos from iphone 5 downloaded from pc.  Tried the ITunes solution and it does not delete the photos.  Try a second time and Sync doesn't even start

I see the photos tab and "My Pictures" folder shows.  Sync is unselected.  It asks if I want to delete the photos when I click on sync and I said yes but it didn't work.  It does seem that some photos are removed based on available storage left (decreases).  If I select individual folders, subfolders of "My Pictures" then hit Sync deselected Sync doesn't even start.

You need to do it through iTunes, by unsyncing them
Wtih  your iPhone connected, open iTunes on your computer, and click on your iPhone's name.
This should bring up the Overview Page, then click on the Photos Tab.
From their uncheck the folders that have the images you want top remove from your phone. Then sync the phone. itunes will remove the pictures during the sync process.

When i have imported the photos from the iPhone, i get the opportunity to delete photos from iPhone device, but when i press delete nothing happends on my iPhone, and all the photo's are still in the camera roll.
My mac and iPhone 6 is running the latest version of iOS and Yosemite.

    Please advice.

    Thanks.

Try restarting your Mac and the phone

Pics taken with the iphone can be deleted from the iphone itself using the trash can button or you can delete them when you import them to your computer or apply to the iPhone Data Eraser.
Pics synced to your iphone from your computer are deleted the same way - the sync process.  Open itunes , connect iphone, select what you want on the iphone, sync.
Click Support at the top of this page, then click manuals so that you can delete photos from iPhone.
If it were the regular Photo stream, the album would be called "My Photo Stream", so it is not rhe Photo Stream you are looking at, but a regular album or an album syned from your mac.
Have you ever synced the iPhone and iPad wit your computer using iTunes? This really looks like the album "Photo Stream" is an album that has been synced to your iDevices using iTunes. Then they can only be removed by syncing again with iTunes, selecting to sync photos,  but deselecting all photo albums in iTunes.
If it is a regular album, however, try to find the photos in your camera roll and delete photos from iPhone permanently. Then they will also vanish from the album. And photos, that have been edited, cannot be deleted at all, unless you revert them to original.

  • Delete photos from iPhone iOS 7

I cannot delete photos from my iPhone since I did the update to IOS 7.  I've searched the internet for answers, but nothing works!  Maybe I don't understand how photostream works, but it seems as though I have the same photos on my iPhone multiple times and to delete them, I have to do it one by one.
    Please help!!
    Thank you

You can delete multiple photos off camera roll. Simply open the album "Camera Roll" (or which ever album contains the photos you wish to delete) and hit the edit button in the upper right hand corner. Touch the photos you want to get rid of and a red check will appear on them, then hit the delete button to delete photos from iPhone.

You cannot, unless they were there at last backup.  You can try restoring from backup, losing anything done since the last sync.

  • Deleting photos from iphone synced from computer

How do I delete photos on iphone 6 that were synced from my computer? My iPhone is unable to take pictures or video because all the photos from my computer have used up all my iPhone storage.

Assuming you're still using the same computer that was used to sync the photos, you would do the opposite and unsync them using iTunes.

You mean photos that were transferred from the PC to the iPhone?  You can't delete them directly on the device, not without erasing everything off the device.  You'd have to sync the device with iTunes again, and choose to have no pictures synced.

How can I delete photos from iphone 4s after transferring from pc?

acapetown is the one who really solved this for me: his suggestion to create an empty folder and sync to that was THE ONLY solution that actually worked for my iphone 4s. Everything else about uncheckign "sync" and unchecking events DID NOT WORK. I think there is more than one glitch in this system because I noticed a lot of other people struggling with the question. Now my phone is light as a feather again and I can actually benefit from backup to the Cloud. Thanks acapetown!

  • Deleted Photos from iPhone still show up in Photo Stream on iPad: iOS 6

Okay, I've done a lot of searching and can't find any solution for this.  I'm on iOS 6 on all devices, so none of the iOS 5.x article / discussions apply.
I have my iPhone 5, my wife has an iPhone 4, we have an iMac, and an iPad 2.  Here's the situation.  We use iCloud and Photo Stream is enabled on all four devices, and all share a single Apple ID.
I have many photos (let's say 100) I've taken on my iPhone 5 over the last several months, and with Photo Stream enabled, they were automatically copied to all of my other devices.  Great.  Now, I'd like to delete let's say 20 of those photos.  On my iPhone 5, I go to "My Photo Stream" and mark all 20 of them and delete them.  I get the pop-up confirmation that they will be deleted from the Photo Stream on all my devices. Great, exactly what I want.
The photos delete from my iPhone 5, my wife's iPhone 4, and my iMac.  However, they still appear on my iPad under Photos, Photo Stream, and under Events (September 2012 Photo Stream, October 2012 Photo Stream, November 2012 Photo Stream events).  I can not delete them from my iPad.
    I have tried:
    1. Selecting each photo, there is no option to delete
    2. Selecting edit, and then selecting a photo, the delete button is disabled
    3. Disabling Photo Stream on my iPad, and rebooting.  All photos in "My Photo Stream" on iPad are deleted, but not the photos that were sourced by other devices, they still appear under Photos, Photo Stream, and the monthly Photo Stream events
So... How do I delete these photos from my iPad?
    Cheers,
    Gouda

Okay, finally figured out what was going on.  Positng the solution here in case it might help someone else with a similar problem.
    Here's what was happening:
    1. iPhone5/iPhone4/iPad/iMac all had iCloud + Photo Stream so Photos were shared
    2. iMac was setup with iPhoto to automatically import and save Photo Stream photos
    3. iPad was setup to wirelessly sync all albums from iPhoto
So, when photos were shared using Photo Stream to iMac, it would backup to an album in iPhoto, and sync to the iPad.  Deleting the original photo on the iPhone would delete the photo from the Photo Stream on all devices, but it had already been added to a permanent album in iPhoto (e.g., "September 2012 Photo Stream").  This album was then automatically synced to the iPad.  So, deleteing the photo from Photo Stream would clear it from the iPhones, but not the iPad.
    To delete the photos:
    1. Delete the photo from "My Photo Stream" in the source device (the device used to take the picture), this will delete it from the active Photo Stream on all devices
    2. On the iMac, go into the automatically created monthly Photo Stream events, and delete the photos from there
    3. In iTunes, initiate a Sync with the iPad, which will update the syncronized albums/events there, removing the photos on the iPad as well
Hope that's able to help someone in the future...
    Cheers,
    Gouda
