HT204022 Managing photos on iPhone 5
I have an iPhone 5. I have photostraem turned on and when I look at my photostraem I have around 150 pictures and yet my "camera roll" has around 200 pictures. How do I best manage these and keep them the same?
If the missing 50 photos were in your camera roll before you turned on photo stream on your phone, that's the reason. Photo stream only adds photos after turning this feature on; earlier photos aren't added.
If you want to add the missing photos to your photo stream you can do this in a few different ways:
Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot. This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll. This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once. Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll. These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream. (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)
The other option is to create a shared photo stream that includes the missing photos and invite yourself, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99.

Manage photos on iPhone via iTunes 12.1
Trying to manage photos on iPhone via iTunes 12.1, but there is no option. I get the headline message that iCloud Photos is On. iPhone can access photos in iCloud. Photos can be downloaded to your device via WI-Fi or cellular network.
Problem is I have not authorised iCloud to backup my photos and do not intend to.
Does this mean I can no longer sync photos betwWhat exactly are you trying to do?
You can access the photos on your phone via Image Capture (in the Applications Folder) or iPhoto, not iTunes. -

How to Efficiently Manage Photos Among iPhone, iCloud & iMac
I have an iPhone 5S and a late-2009 iMac running OSX Mavericks. My on-line storage capacity limit on iCloud has been slightly exceeded and I wish to avoid unnecessarily buying more iCloud storage. I recently went on a trip, taking many photos and quite a few videos; I suspect they are the reason I exceed my current iCloud storage capacity limit.
Can anyone recommend a preferred method for efficiently managing photos on my iPhone, iCloud storage and my iMac? While I normally "cloud sync" (over WiFi), today I connected by lightening connector to my iMac to deliberately transfer all my iPhone photos to iPhoto. Now safely stored on the iMac (which is backed up each day), I thought iPhoto would offer to delete the images from my iPhone, as it used to do with my Canon digital camera. But it did not and they're still there.
Once copied to the iMac, what's the preferred way to remove the extra photos and videos from my iPhone?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.iPhoto should have prompted you after it finished the import, asking if you want to delete. It does in mine -- version 9.5.1
One way to quickly delete the photos still on your phone is to connect the phone to your Mac and open Image Capture. It allows you to select and delete photos from the camera roll without importing them via Image Capture. -
HT204022 deleting photos on iPhone
This is frustrating. Why would Apple not allow you to turn off sync then delete photos from your iPhone? Frankly that type of juvenile attitude is enough to make me trade in the iPhone for another mobile device.
I got rid of my old laptop that photos were on. Why to I have to jump through hoopes to delete photos on my phone. VERY annoying.
Looks like I probably have to install iTunes on another computer, then go through the sync routine to get all photos off my phone. Perhaps I only want to take off selected photos. Why can't I just delete them? I see a lot of posts about this so many others also have this frustrating problem. I have a lot better things to do with my time than research how to delete a photo from my phone. The only photos that do not give you the option to delete are photos that were synced to your device from a computer using iTunes. These photos can only be removed by deselecing them on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

Managing photos on iPhone and iPad - deleting from camera roll
I have a iPhone 4s and an iPad Air, but no laptop or desk top. All my photos are currently saved on my phone and I need to clear space. Is it possible to delete photos from camera roll but still have them permanently saved in another album or on iCloud? Deleting them from camera roll, on iPhone or iPad, seems to delete them from everywhere.
When you delete a photo from the camera roll it is deleted from any albums that contain it. This is because the albums don't contain actual photos; they only contain links to the photo in the camera roll. When the cameral roll photo is deleted, the link to it is removed form any albums as well.
Also, photos only remain in my photo stream for 30 days, and if you delete a photo stream photo from your device it is also deleted from iCoud and all other devices.
Photos added to a shared stream will remain in iCloud indefinitely, the will be at a lower resolution than the original. And the shared stream album will also remain on your phone.
For all these reasons, you can really use iCloud to archive your photos and free up space on your device. Instead, import them to your computer while they are still in the camera roll, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. If you want to be able to still view them, get a Flikr account (or similar) so you can view them as a gallery from the web. -
Managing photo storage on my iPhone/iPhoto/Pictures/External Hard-drive
Hello, I need some help with managing photo storage on my iPhone/iPhoto/Pictures/External Hard-drive.
Background:
I have 1,200 photos/videos on my iPhone 4S on the camera roll and need to delete them to save space. Most are photos/videos of my new baby which I would be devastated to lose, so I want to be 110% sure that I have them backed up properly and accessible.
I frequently hook my iPhone up to iPhoto to download all of the latest photos to iPhoto.
I have done Time Machine back ups and just did a latest one yesterday.
I would like to save my camera roll into a folder on my hard-drive so that all of these photos are in one place in case I need to access them (and not spread across different folders like in iPhoto).
My Mac (Macbook Pro - circa 2009) is now telling me that my 'Starter Disc is nearly full' and won't save all of the photos from my camera roll.
My questions;
Are photos stored both in iPhoto and Pictures folder, and if so are they duplicates?
I've heard that Time Machine only backs up full libraries and so cannot be used to access individual photos - is this true? If so, how do you access individual photos/files from my external hard-drive?
How and where should I delete older photos from to save space on my Mac - iPhoto or Pictures? (once I know how to access them from my external drive if needed).
How do I delete all of my photos from my iPhone camera roll in one go? - I can only see a way to delete the 1,200 of them individually.
Going forward where is the best place for me to synch/upload my photos for medium term storage/access on my Mac?
I would consider myself quite intelligent but when it comes to this topic, I'm happy to be spoken to in very simplistic terms!
Thank you.Import the photos to iPhoto - then select the photos in iPhoto and export (file menu ==> export) to the desired location

Managing photos with iMac, iPad, iPhone using iPhoto
Help! Can anyone point me to how to gain some control over photos in this Apple environment, because my experience has been horrible so far.
As much as I love and have used Apple products since the mid-80's, to the same extent I detest the lack of understanding I have for controlling my photos across my devices. I will use the iPad as my foil, but it applies to the phone as well. I know how to search the web.
Where is a scheme described for simply managing photos? There seems no reason for many photos from my iPhoto library to be on my iPad. I have not opened the photos, nor explicitly placed them in photo stream.
I spent hours in iPhoto yesterday and deleted several thousand photos. Apparently, I only thought I deleted many if them, because they are still in my IPad and some are in iphoto.
Can I wipe out all the photos on the iOS devices, lock the devices so icloud can't put any back on until I wish, then allow me to select which I want to put on again, then start to trust PhotoStream?
Is there anyone with good information?
I really hate all the trial and error with this, and no satisfaction.
Last week I thought I sent some pictures of some people to PhotoStream to show when I went to visit them. Hours later, with iPad, wanting to show the Photos, none i wanted to were there, by my PhotoStream share had a lot of pictures I do not care about. WTH? I have great wi-Fi. Everything is connected. Fine demonstration that was! What version fo iPhoto and system are you running:
If you're using Photo Stream in iPhoto on your iMac disengage Automatic Upload in the iPhoto/Photo Stream preference pane:
Now you will have to manually add photos to Photo Stream in iPhoto if you want them to be on your iPhone's Photo Stream.
You can remove photos in PS from iPhoto by selecting them and Control (right)-clicking and selecting Delete from Photo Stream:

How do you manage photos if you lose the computer your iphone was synced with?
how do you manage photos if you lose the computer your iphone was synced with?
Are you talking about photos that were synced to your phone? If so, the photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. Apple makes no provision to extract these photos from your phone, you'll have to use third-party software to do so. Note: photos synced to your phone were reduced in resolution for display on your phone, there is no way to recover their full resolution.

How do I manage photos between my ipad, iphone and imac without using all the storage on the various devices?
If enabled, iCloud Photo Stream ensures all new photos are sent to all your devices. Then you can simply add the ones you want to each one's Library, and delete any photos you don't want.
One technique is to designate one device as the "master" containing all your photos - probably your iMac, since it is likely to have the greatest available storage - and make sure you have a backup strategy for it. That way, any photos you choose to keep on your iPad and iPhone are redundant copies that can be deleted as you wish, or as required should you need to restore your iOS device. If your iMac breaks and its Library irretrievably lost, the importance of its backup becomes critical. Therefore, consider having more than one backup, and more than one geographical location for them. -
IPhoto quits unexpectedly every time I try to import photos from iPhone
Hi
I'm struggling with what seems a common problem... But I looked at some of the solutions and they are not working for me. iPhoto quits when I try to import photos from iPhone.
I tried to look for the 3ivx file/folder that has been mentioned as the solution, but I don't even have the folder. I've updated iPhoto, it's the latest version: 9.2.3
Here is the message. Can anyone help?

1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -
How to manage photos from multiple accounts
Hi,
i am trying to solve one problem. I have one iMAC where i have two user profiles connected to different AppleIDs. Next to it there are two iPhones and two iPads. I am trying to find out, how to manage photos from all these devices using one account on iMAC. Second question is if there is any finction in iPhoto that can publish images to NAS server? Second alternative for me is to byu iCloud drive space and use Family sharing for publishing photos. Bellow text schema is attached, it is only my idea and i dont know if this could work like this. Did anyone somehow solved this configuration? ThanksI can see the screenshot if I double click on it. However, here is it again. Being Halloween maybe it'll show.

Managing Photos with new iPad Air???
Hi,
I was looking to get some insight from experienced users on the best way manage photos with the new iPad Air. Oviously, im not too familiar with the subject as, i do not use any iPad and i am trying to set one up for someone else who recently purchased one.
So here is what i need to be able to do:
There are a bunch of pictures i need to upload into the iPad (more or less 15gig for the first batch).
Id like to be able to manage these pictures as in be able to delete, organize folders, etc.
Preferably also be able to export these photos, later on, as a backup in their respective folders as previously organized in the ipad.
Mainly, the ipad will be the main storage unit of the albums, as this person enjoys viewing them on daily basis. So i believe this rule out using itunes photos syncing. After searching for a while i believe there are multiple third party app which would be better for importing, organizing and exporting photos. Im just not quite sure which as i have not experience it yet.
*This has become quite a pain since im trying to find a way to minimize the usage of a PC or MAC, so the person would be able to manage their photos with the ipad and i believe it would be simple to transfer pictures taken from their iPhone.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
Thank you.Have a look at Photo Manager Pro.

Best way to manage photos?
So I don't manage photo's on my iphone very much. I dont' need to, but my parents (not very technical) do take a lot of photo's with their phones. On occassion, there is a need to make more room on the iphone, so I'm starting to teach them that the photo's should be sent to the (windows) pc, but they don't want all of the pics to be removed from the iphone.
Currently I'm not sitting in fromt of a pc with iTunes on it, but is it possible to do this in iTunes? Or is a good reason to use the Photo Stream feature on iCloud?.Or can I sync just certain albums (without Photo Stream / iCloud) , if I show them how to move pictures to other albums?
I'm looking for the best / easist way for them to manage their photo's, without having much user interaction. At most, maybe plug it in and that's it.
Suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks
MurphHow about an Express Card/34 Flash Card Reader that should be faster than an old USB one.
Aperture looks good for Photo Management.

How Can I Manage Photos?
I have taken 631 photos with my iPhone. I can't seem to copy them from the phone. I can't even sync them with my computer. If I choose a folder to sync the photos to, iTunes tells me this will delete all the photos on the phone.
I'm baffled as to how you can manage photos you take on the phone. Any tips?Phoney, you have not mentioned if you are on Windows or Mac.
On a Mac, iPhoto (and iTunes simultaneously) pops up and recognizes the iPhone. Ignore iTunes. The photos display on the iPhoto panel. Create an Event and Import Selected Photos (as you would do from a camera or SD Card).
Unmount the unit on from both iTunes and iPhoto and you're done.
