HT204022 Trying to delete old photos. How to do this?

Our old computer died, the one our ipad was setup with. We got a new one, now I cannot delete the older photos. Photos taken after that can be deleted. Help please.

There are a number of ways to delete pictures from the Camera Roll. One is to open Camera Roll in the thumbnail view, tap the arrow button (top right), tap all the pictures you want to delete, tap the Delete button ant the bottom. Photo Library pictures are deleted by unchecking Sync Photos on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings, followed by syncing your phone.

Are you referring to Events or Albums? A photo can exist in one Event only. However, it can be in multiple albums, books, etc., which uses pointers to the original photo in the Event. In those cases if you delete the photo from the Event all occurrences of it will be deleted from the library.

If you're talking about photo stream photos, removing them will not increase your iCloud account space because they don't count against your 5GB limit. The only photos that do are the ones in your camera roll, and only if you are backing up to iCloud (because camera roll photos are included in the backup). If you want to delete some of your camera roll photos to reduce the size of the backup, first import them to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083). You can delete the ones you want by opening the camera roll in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit at the top (or the arrow icon if you're running iOS 5), then tapping the ones you want to delete, then tapping Delete at the bottom. Catalog won't let me delete old photos

I have LR 4 and for some time, I have been unable to delete old photos (old photos were from a LR2 catalog (I think). Any photos I have in LR from the past 2 years, I can delete or edit them as I see fit, but the photos that were mainly imported into LR4 do not seem to work. I can still see all of the photos, but I cant do anything with them. I assume this may be due to moving my catalogs from a laptop to an external drive. If so, how do I rebuild the catalog to include all of the photos in Lightroom?

LR remembers where you first imported the photo from in its catalog, and if you change that—via moving the photo from one drive to another or even an external drive changing names or drive-letters, then LR won’t know where the photo is, anymore.
If the photos are missing, then you should find the highest-up folder that has missing photos and right-click Location Missing Folder on it and point that folder to the new folder location.

The way that I understand that it works, is that the photos are not copied into the new albums, instead it just points to the photos - the number of photos on the iPad in Settings > General > About doesn't increase when you create new album so I assume from that that it isn't copying the photo, just pointing to it. So if you delete the photo from the camera roll you will therefore also be deleting all the pointers to it

Follow these steps to delete a photo album from your iPhone.
1) Launch Photos app
2) Tap "Albums" tab at the bottom of the screen
3) You should see "Camera Roll" and a list of all other Albums you are created.
4) Tap the "Edit" button at the top-right of the screen.
This will give you red circle buttons that you can tap to remove the album.
5) You phone will warn you that you are DELETING the album itself, but all of the photos within the album will remain in the Camera Roll unless you delete them there as well.

It should be under Store > View My Account > iTunes In The Cloud > Manage Devices. That screen can't be used to deauthorise computers, only change the automatic download status.

So i think backup online the the most effective way to protect data loss!
If you found you have lost your important files, you can just download it from the online server.
And if you delete your files from hard disk and cannot download it from online storage, there is still another way-data recovery software to recover your lost files.

I'm having the same problem. I have my main Library on a WXP machine and a new W7 laptop. My iphone 4 sees the library from the W7 machine, but neither the laptop nor the iphone see the big library on the WXP machine. I have configured firewall settings, tried the network wired and wireless, using same apple id on all devices, restarted itunes on all computers, turned sharing off and on on all computers. HT204022 how to delete old photos from photostream on ipad

I have tried to delete my old phots from my photostream but cannot, I went to icloud.com but cannot get to the advanced settings option to turn it off, also when I go to photostream album and tap edit I do not get the delte option - I have the latest version of software - anyone know how to do this.

I have kinda same problem, can't delete some pictures from photo stream directly from my iPad.
tap edit and can select photo but "Delete" button seems not acceptable.
i can see the delete icon but it's not working....
If i connect to my PC, it preview only 2 photos but iTune shows me number of picture is 48 photos,.
So these 2 photos are able to delete, but other 46 photos are not able to delete.
When open Photo stream, there are three icons on the top middle     Photos - Photo stream - Albums
when i tap "photo", there are only 2 photos (which is deletable)
when i tap "Photo stream", there are no photo display. (display; New photo will be automatically uploarded and sent to all of your iClioud devices when connected to Wi-fi)
when i tap Albums, there are 2 files "Camera roll" (2 photos) and "photo stream" (46 photos).
In Camera roll photo can delete.
But ... Photo stream in Album, ... tap edit then can select pictures but there is no icon for delete.
And same as Lafayete, I went to icloud.com but cannot get to the advanced settings option to turn it off, also when I go to photostream album and tap edit I do not get the delte option

HT3275 I am trying to access old photos in time machine. My initial back up was in 2012. When I enter time machine through iphoto, it only returns me to 2013. Were my previous backups and therefore, photos deleted?

I have been trying to access my old photographs, which I initally backed up on using a seagte external hard drive. I used Time Machine to back up my computer onto the hard drive. I later deleted some files and images to make room on my hard drive. I have openned iphoto and tried to browse my old backups but it is only allowing me to view back to 2013, but my initial back up was in 2012. Have my previous back ups been deleted? Why can I not access my old photos?
