My "Find My iPhone" says on map that my phone is here at my house...but it's not! So...I guess that "Find my iphone" feature doesn't work?  Very frustrating.  My iphone volume might be turned off ...does that make a difference if you use the sound locator on the find my iphone?
Tech support INSISTS that the iphone locator on i Cloud is accurate.  How can it be?  My phone is NOT here!

Is your device showing a green or grey dot?
Here is some background on how location services works.

Here is what happens if the device is turned off

This linksays if it can't be found it will show the last location for 24 hrs and then  it will clear the map.

Mine always works fine... it's say within 25' of where I am.

  • Maps missing from "phone view"

I am using Nokia Suite to update the maps on my Nokia 5800.  But when I click on the section which should list maps on the phone, only the voice guidance files show up.  I have confirmed that the maps are on my phone (for example I just uploaded the map for Paris and I can find the Eiffel Tower) but neither the existing maps, nor the newly uploaded maps show up in Nokia Suite.

You may try deleting the 'Cities' folder and the 'qf' file from the phone. You may do that by connecting your phone to PC and then thru' Windows Explorer.. Now, disconnect the phone and then Open the Maps application on the phone and after about 15-20 seconds close it. This will recreate the Folder structure. Now connect the phone again to PC and thru' Nokia Suite re-download / re-install the Maps that you want ...

  • N97 Maps Download via Phone

    Hi,
I recently purchased an N97 and wish to download maps via the phone/wifi.  I do not have a computer for which I am an administrator so I can not use Ovi/Nokia Maps on any PC.  I can use a wifi connection to download.
The Ovi website boasts how you can save downloads by installing Nokia Maps but I can't find out how to download them via the phone.  I read something about them downloading automatically when you are in a location but then you'd be on roaming and incurring £££££s.
Does anybody know how to download Maps via the N97?
    Daniel

Futher to phonehacker's comment - what you cannot do that Map Loader allows is to download entire regions over the air - you will only download that area that is in displayed on the screen.
So what you would need to do is to scroll around the area that you wish to download with your Wlan connected to allow the data to download. then move on to the next.
    Cheers

Although i work for Nokia, my opinions are my own!

  • TS3376 why wont it show me on the map where my phone was last located? and can am i able to bring it up?

why wont it show me on the map where my phone was last located? and can am i able to bring it up?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate, lock or erase your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.

  • Ovi suite can see maps installed on phone, but pho...

I was using ovi maps on the phone with no problems.
After a botched phone backup, I had to do a hard reset of the phone
Now ovi won't let me download maps to the phone because it thinks they are already there but the phone can't see them (they are all on memory card)
Also when the phone does try to download the maps it errors (either usb or wifi connection)
How can I force it to realise that it already has the maps/force ovi suite to update or refresh what is on there?
    nokia 5800

    @adolfgarlic
Have you tried deleting E:\cities + .qf file from memory card, open Nokia Maps application upon 5800XM to re-define necessary folder structure to re-download your regional maps.
As your 5800XM does not have mass memory there should not be any conflicts with memory card as storage medium, which can happen upon devices so equipped!

  • GPS Maps Outside of Phone Coverage when Traveling

*Is there anyway to download maps for your destination using a computer and then onto the iphone before you go?*
Most people need a map when they are traveling, not in their local area.
To download maps using the limited 3G network coverage while traveling is EXPENSIVE.
A lot of places just do not have 3G and using 2G to download maps on the fly is SLOW & EXPENSIVE.
Many places interesting places in the world do not have any phone coverage at all.
So how useful is the GPS function on the iphone if you are in an area where you cannot download a map.
Is there anyway to download maps for your destination using a computer and then onto the iphone before you go?

Perhaps you have not done much traveling. I have.
I am also very experienced at reading all types of maps, including
topographical maps on land and depth contour maps and so on at sea.
So map reading is not the problem for me.
Actually getting good maps, that are easy to use even from guide books is
quite difficult. It is not really convenient to have to carry a heavy
guidebook around every where. In some places the maps from guide books
have inadequate or incorrect coverage. In Japan or China it can be difficult to
come to grips with the calligraphy, sometimes there just aren't any road signs.
So a GPS map device becomes are very useful piece of kit. Unfortunately as much as I like Mac stuff and wanted the iPhone for this purpose, it is in its current
form not very useful for travelers.
The Nokia maps can be preloaded (so at least you can avoid expensive download costs) but the coverage is quite limited. Samsung have a new 16+16Gb GPS phone that with pre-purchased GPS maps could do the job.
Apple could fairly easily fix the iPhone GPS software so that you can preload all the Google maps for a country before you leave. After all you generally know where you are going. If Apple was to do this then I would get the iPhone
but until then I will keep looking for a better solution.

  • Will maps work without phone or 3G signal....

If I preload a route will maps still work even if I lose phone/3G signal? Stupid question I think, but I just want to make sure before I set off on a long journey which I know will be pants for phone signal. Thanks

Keep wifi and the mobile radio turned on and you should be good.
Location services needs those active to figure out the location without a nearby tower.
Also, Google Maps lets you save map areas for offline usage.

  • The ovi map on my phone 6760s does not show street...

I noticed about two weeks ago that the ovi map on my 6760s does not show streets anymore. What it shows is just my location. I have downloaded the latest version believing it will be alright but no avail. Kindly assist because I love this phone alot. Dauda Hammed(Nigeria)

Delete E:\CITIES + .qf file from memory card, run OVI Maps application once to re-define folder structure needed to re-download regional maps with OVI Suite > Maps.

  • Maps Language - map data vs phone system

Ovi Maps stores all available language versions of map data for a certain city (e.g. both Chinese & English for Hong Kong), but will only display the language according to the phone system settings.
If I want to switch map languages I need to change phone settings then reboot then restart Ovi Maps and restore afterwards. Would really appreciate if such option made locally instead of system wide.

I have suggested it on betalabs.nokia.com when ovi maps was 3.01 in beta.
As you wrote, OM language interface depends by the phone language interface

  • Nokia maps on Windows phone 8 - detail and resolut...

    Hello,
I can't really use nokia maps with satellite view, since I will nearly always get low resolution landsat image material instead of the high res images I've already known from windows phone 7.5 and bing maps (I thought bing and nokia were working together??). --> compare attachments: nokia maps on wp8 vs. maps.bing.com
Blending between zoom levels is a catastrophe (compare to google maps, that's the way it should be done, lower zoom levels interpolated from higher zoom levels). Often some layers or the whole material is missing and you will get maps like the attached one, even after some minutes of loading (wlan or 3g/LTE... doesn't matter).

Because I haven't written it in the upper posting: The shown map area is exactly the same.

  • Maps direct to phone?

I'm occasionally "on the road".  I have a Nokia 5800 so can connect it directly to the internet via WiFi but how do I download the Nokia map for wherever I find myself?  I don''t have Ovi Suite on my employer's laptop

Unfortunately, I think it cannot be through wi-fi.
    Hi Rogido
OVI Maps "Online" access point may be via WLAN or network, it is only "Assisted GPS"  feature that requires a network access point. Downloaded maps still register on the kb meter whilst WLAN connection icon is on screen.

  • N95 maps and replacement phone

    Hi,
I've just moved from an original N95 to the N95 8Mb version. On the original phone I paid for navigation and although I'm using the same sim card in the replacement phone the licence does not seem to have been carried over. Does anyone know how I deal with this. I can't find either in an e-mail or on the old phone a licence code and, indeed, on the new phone when I try to use navigation I'm asked to pay for a licence by credit card.
    Thanks for any advice.

  • E90 nokia maps 2, freezing phone?

hi, i am trying to use nokia maps 2 in an e90 device. it has happened twice, the first time it asked what to do, i choose look for wlan connection and it froze there. i had to make a 'hard reset' (ie: remove the battery for a while, since it does not have reset button or hole). the second time it appeared the globe with a loding bar at the botton, it got to 90% and is frozen there (i will leave it overnight like this, just in case). i dont know if it is downloading something or whatever, there is no download indicator or anything, so i have no clue whats it doing so far. i try to change to something else with the menu button, i try to turn it off but nothing seems to respond. any pointers?

Try to restore factory settings by going to Menu > tools > settings > general > factory settings.
Or simply key in *#7780# when on stand by.
The code by default is 12345.
If this does not help then you may wanna try to re-install the maps application by going to http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/maps/download
Download and install the latest version as yours might have been corrupted.
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

  • How do I clear routes stored in maps on I phone 4s?

Can anyone help with the above

Hi cor-el. Thanks for this. I have followed your directions I think. In the navigation bar that has "about:home" written in it, and the yellow star to the right - I have highlighted the web site address I want to delete, and pressed delete. It disappears. The deletion is only temporary. The website does disappear from the list, but reappears when the the first letter of the web site is entered into the navigation bar. I have closed and restarted Firefox, and the address is still there. So your advice does remove it, but it is still there, and still there next time I use Firefox.
    Hope that makes sense.
    Bert
