HT204053 Apple ID and iCloud Account

Hi there,
I have changed my email address of my Apple ID. As a result I can only use the new email address to sign in App Store. I used this new email address to log in iTunes Store and App Store on my iPhone. But I realise that the email address in iCloud settings on my iPhone is still the old one!
It becomes very confusing to me now, because I can no longer use the old email address as my Apple ID. How come the iCloud on my iPhone is still using the old email address, and it seems it is still working with no problems?
Right now the situation is that I assigned the new email to my App Store settings on my iPhone (see the 1st picture below) but I do not how to do the same for iCloud settings (see the 2nd picture below). What should I do now? Will I lose all the Photo Stream pictures and all iCloud synchornised files on my iPhone?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Fei

To change the iCloud ID, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your phone, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your data will reappear on your phone when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos over 30 days old, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.

You can't delete an iCloud account.
Once it is attached to an AppleID it is attached forever.
You can edit the name on your iCloud account or setup an email alias if you made a mistake with the email address.

  • HT204150 Sharing the same iTunes, Apple ID and iCloud accounts.

    Hi
My wife and I share the same Itunes , Apple Id and Icloud accounts.
How do we keep our contacts seperate, when we open up or back up on I cloud?
As we both have I phones, I would like to keep all my work contacts seperate from hers. Also I don't wish to have her contacts loaded on my phone and vice verser.
Will it mean the I will have to get a seperate apple ID and seperate Icloud account.
Problem is that all our music and photos are on the one Library, because we didn't have two Iphones before, it didn't matter.
We would like to keep the same Itunes library to access music and photos, but like to keep everything else seperate.
    Can you please help.
    Regards
    shervhall

You can continue to share the same ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores (your iTunes account/library), but you need to have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs to prevent merged data such as contacts.  (You aren't required to use the same ID for purchasing as you do for other services such as iCloud, iMesage, FaceTime, etc.)  The only issue is that photo stream is tied to the iCloud account so when you separate your accounts, you will no longer be sharing the same photo stream.  You can still send each other shared photo streams in order to share each other's photos, but they wouldn't be part of the same photo stream.
To separate your iCloud accounts, on the device that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the device.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your device.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The device that will be keeping the existing account will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on this device using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the other wife's contacts from your account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.
To avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls you also need to use separate IDs for iMessage and FaceTime.  To change the ID for iMessage on one of the devices, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign in with a separate ID (such as the new iCloud ID).  To change the ID for FaceTime on this device, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

  • How do I make one (and only one) device use my Apple ID and iCloud account?

How do I make one (and only one) device use my Apple ID and iCloud account? I currently have an iPad mini, iPhone 5, and MacBook pro attached to my apple accounts, but I want only my iPhone 5 to be assosiated with either one. Whenever I use any of the three devices, I get a notification on the other two telling me that these devices are now using these accounts from these services, etc. and I want these notifications to stop, along with the devices using to them. How do I do this? I completely reset the iPad mini so I don't know how I'm still getting notifications from it, and I deleted and signed of of all of my accounts everywhere I could find on my Mac. So, to restate exactly what I want to do, I want ONLY my iPhone 5 to use ANY of my Apple/iCloud accounts and ONLY it can receive emails, iMessages, and FaceTime calls. Thanks!

If you want to disconect your Mac from iCloud, go to System Preferences>iCloud and click Sign Out.  If you only want to stop using iCloud email, just uncheck Mail.  To stop iMessage, open the Messages app, go to Messages>Preferences, click the Accounts tab, click your iCoud ID on the left-hand side, then to the right click Sign Out.  To stop FaceTime, open the FaceTime app, then click "Apple ID" then click Sign Out.
On your iPad, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account (or if you only want to stop using iCloud email, turn Mail off).  For FaceTime, go to Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID and sign out.  For iMessage, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID and sign out.

  • My house has 3 iPhones all on the same apple Id and icloud account. I created another apple I'd to use just for myself and did an icloud backup. Does this backup store the music that was purchased through the apple id I use for the store?

So will icloud backup the music and apps I currently have then when I restore from backup put these songs and apps back on my phone?

Nope.  Your iCloud account has nothing to do with your ability to redownload previously purchased music.  It's tied to your Apple ID.  The only restriction is that once you download a previously purchase, enable iTunes Match on your device, or turn on Automatic Downloads in Settings>iTunes & App Stores, your device is then "associated" with the ID that you are using.  Once associated in this way, you cannot associate it with a different ID for 90 days.  This means, for example, that you can't download previously purchased music from one ID and then immediately change IDs and download music purchased with a different ID...you have to wait 90 days before you can change.
Also, as mentioned ealier, it doesn't matter if the music is on your phone, it isn't included in the backup.  You should be storing your purchased music and other media in your iTunes library; then you can sync it back whenever you want.  To transfer purchaed media to your iTuines library, connect your device to iTunes, then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.

  • Apple id and icloud account different e-mails

    Hello.
I have changed my apple Id to my new e-mail, but my icloud is still showing my old E-mail address.
How do I change my old icloud account to my new e-mail?
    Thanks.

    Hey Law_Sum,
Thanks for the question. After you change your Apple ID, you’ll want to follow these directions for updating the iCloud account on iOS devices:
Apple ID: What to do after you change your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5796
    iCloud
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
    - If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
    - If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
    1. Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
    2. Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Apple ID and icloud account

    Hey I have a problem:
I just downloaded the icloud for pc.  I installed it.  When I tried to login I get the following error:
"This Apple id is valid but not icloud account."
I went to icloud website and I have it all setup.
    How to I fix this?

I have the same problem. I've updated my Mac to 10.7.2 ->
In the System panel, when I select mobileMe and enter the credentials, I am told my account has been upgraded to an iCloud account. I can log into iCloud.com with these credentials, and my iPhone and iPad have successfully migrated to iOS5 and are happily syncing etc.
When I click on the iCloud system preference pane on the same Mac, with the same credentials, I am told "This Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account."
This has therefore made it impossible for me to use mail, calendars, contacts etc on my mac.
    Please offer help, Apple.

  • How do I change the name of my Apple ID and iCloud account?

I want to change my Apple ID to a @me.com or a @apple.com account cause right now it's an ugly hotmail account.
I did read this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40. But it is not helping me.
When I change my e-mail to my @me account it gives an error. So what account should I use? Do I have to make a new one?
    Tristan

I already got an iCloud account which is named the same as my Apple ID but I want to change the name of it to another e-mail account from Apple. So I need a new e-mail addres. Where can I make a new e-mail account? When I've got a new e-mail addres then I will use that in stead of my hotmail account.

  • I changed the email on my Apple ID and iCloud account, but my iPhone still thinks it's the old iCloud email and won't let me change it. How do I switch the emails on the iPhone?

It won't let me delete iCloud or sign out without SIGNING IN with my old email, which doesn't exist anymore.
It shows no option to sign in with my new email/password and the popups are getting obnoxious.
Now Apple is telling me I can't edit my own post?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If device is signed into iCloud/App Store with an old Apple ID
    •Go to appleid.apple.com
    •Manage Account
    •Sign in with current ID
    •Edit Primary Email Address
•Change it to the "old" ID
    •Save Changes
•Turn off "Find my device" under •Settings>iCloud
    •(Using current password)
    •Delete Account under Settings>iCloud
    •(Using current password)
•Repeat this process for any affected device
    •Go to appleid.apple.com
    •Manage Account
•Sign in with "old" ID (current password)
    •Edit Primary Email Address
    •Save Changes
    •Verify Primary Email Address
•Sing into each device with "current" ID under •Settings>iCloud

  • I don't remember encrypting my iTunes back up now my backup is also locked in my iPhone 5 can I create a new apple if and iCloud account and get my sms off of it and notes. That's all I need, I won't do a rest these items are too important as of now.

New iCloud act? Sync with my phone?
Keep my text msgs backed up somewhere, can't lose them please help thank you!

If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your data is unrecoverable.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups & restore the phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable.
You delete your existing backups here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices.
If you have data on your phone, like messages, you want to save, you're gonna have to use third-party software, like this, to extract them from your phone. Notes, contacts, etc, you can just sync back to your phone after you restore as new:

  • HT201269 My Apple ID and icloud ID are being used on 2 different iphones. I can't figure out how to seperate them completely. Can someone help me with this?

I have somehow linked my Apple ID and icloud ID to 2 different iphones. I need help on how to disconnect one of the iphones from my ID and give it a new one. Hopefully without losing all of the saved information on the phone (contacts, pictures, etc)
Can anyone help me with this?

    Hey shelldolfin,
Thanks for the question. To disassociate a phone from your Apple ID and iCloud account, simply sign out of the following services:
    - Settings > iCloud (When prompted, opt to keep the information on your phone)
    - Settings > Messages > Send & Receive
    - Settings > FaceTime
    - Settings > iTunes & App Store
For further information, see this related article. While it refers to what to do after you change your Apple ID, you can use the helpful information to achieve your end goal:

  • HT204053 Dear Support Team, every time i tried to logon Icloud its gives me wrong user name or password and at the end it show me error " This Apple ID is valid but is not an ICloud Account" then how can i use one account for same Apple ID and ICloud???

    Dear Support Team,
Every time i tried to logon Icloud its gives me wrong user name or password and at the end it show me error " This Apple ID is valid but is not an ICloud Account" then how can i use one account for same Apple ID and ICloud?
    Thanks

It is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.

  • If two people use one computer, but we have separte itunes accounts, Apple ID, and icloud will my apps I get be stored in their account too since we are using the same computer?

If two people share the same computer, but have separate itunes account, Apple ID, and icloud and one of them downloads an app will it also go into the other persons account since y'all use the same computer

If you  have separate user accounts on the computer, then your downloaded apps are stored in your iTunes Library. See the following for dealing with having multiple users on the same computer: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer.
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.
