HT204053 Apple ID & iCloud

i have had to change the email addy on my Apple ID and despite having updated the ID in iTunes my iphone & ipad don't recognise the new ID. I have restored the iPad to factory settings but the old ID keeps appearing.
I have contacted Apple support who talked me thru the restore but it hans't changed. My devices keep gpoing back to the old email /ID
can anyone help please?
Debz

Did you do this?
I have changed my Apple ID as my email address has changed. Deleting icloud account sounds very permanent and dangerous!!!
Does it remove stuff from the phone - surely it wil just delete the stuff in the cloud?  And hopefully restore them all to a new account next time I backup?
I'd be grateful if someone could confirm that deleting an icloud account and creating a new one is the correct way to go.
Thanks!

To use iCloud, you must first set it up with your Apple ID on a device with iOS 5 or a Mac with OS X Lion.

  • How can I stop using my primary Apple ID (Gmail) but leave my secondary Apple ID (icloud) as primary ond only ONE?

    Good afternoon friends.
Please help me and tell how can I stop using my primary Apple ID (Gmail) but leave my secondary Apple ID (icloud) as primary ond only ONE?
I started using Apple ID in 2011 when iCloud was not exist and was forced to use non-apple e-mail adress as primary ID.
    So I used GMail mailbox.
When iCloud was started I created my account but unfortunatelly can't remove this Gmail address from my Apple ID and replace it with icloud mail address.
I was VERY dissapointed because I don't want to use "outside" mailbox to get letters from Apple and ny ID.
In fact I see the Apple old users and fans discrimination.
When creating new user accounts are free to create a box on the iCloud mail and use it as a primary ID, and the only ONE.
At the same time the old user is obliged to keep third-party mail box like Gmail etc. as the primary and can not get such an opportunity, as a new user
This is extremely inconvenient and a VERY strange logical.
For example, now I want to stop using this mailbox on Gmail but I can not do that because in this case I lose access to my ID, or run the risk that someone in the future will create a box with the same name on Gmail (when name will be free and available) and will automatically get access to my accounts on Apple and to my Apple ID.
Now, to avoid this, your team, I offer the only way out: ID, create anew.
Of course it's possible, but then:
    - I lose all my purchases for 3 years and will be forced to make them again and pay money for the second time for my purchases
    - Lose access to the familiar iCloud e-mail address who now serves as secondary ID because this e-mail address is almost no longer available and will never be released in future.
And now answer me for ONLY TWO questions:
    - WHERE IS LOGIC?
    - WHAT ABOUT TO BE FRIENDLY FOR YOUR USERS AND FANS?
    Thank you!
    Hopefully for your GOOD answers.

You cannot make your @icloud.com address the login address for the ID. However you can change your ID, currently a Gmail one, to any other functioning non-Apple email address. The Gmail address would then no longer access your account, and so even if someone were to obtain posession of it (is that even possible) it wouldn't allow them to get into your account.
If you want to change your ID to another email address please follow the procedure outlined below, particularly noting the first step.
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example  at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.

  • Two iPhones, both mine, using the same Apple ID iCloud account

I've seen similar questions but it is always being brought up by members of a family each with their own phone sharing an account. My scenario is different...
I have an activated Verizon iPhone 5, running iOS 7.1.x. I have an Apple ID and it backs up stuff to my iCloud account.
I've just received an, as of right now, non-activated T-Mobile iPhone 6. I haven't turned it on yet but it'll of course have iOS 8.x.
Both phones are mine. In a couple weeks, I'm going to go through the whole process of porting my number from Verizon to T-Mobile, but for reasons I won't go into now, I can't do that just yet.
If I power on the new iPhone 6 now, because I'm excited and want to play around with it, I should be able to just use it Wi-Fi. My question then is can I use both devices with the same Apple ID / iCloud account?
Obviously phone calls and non-Wi-Fi data will only be working through the iPhone 5, since it's the only one with service, and that's fine. But what happens with backups and syncing? Will new photos and apps end up on both? Will contacts, the call history, and messages (texts and iMessages) end up syncing? Will syncing work in both directions? Any other caveats or problems that I might run into? If it's a pain, I can just leave the iPhone 6 alone, and wait until I port my number over.
    Thanks,
    Manny
P.S. I've never ported a number or upgraded from one iPhone to another, so I don't know how it normally works. I'm assuming my Apple ID can "transfer" everything. I don't have much on my phone so it all fits within my iCloud storage. I don't use it with iTunes, or hook it up to any computer at all, or for music, movies, etc. Just apps, contacts, settings, photos, etc.

So I basically won't run into any trouble? I
There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that.  You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.
    mannyace wrote:
    Thanks for the response.
Is there any chance that the phones can fall out of sync?
Unlikely. But nothing is impossible.   Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)

If I get a message or buy an app or take a photo on the iPhone 5, how do I get those things onto the iPhone 6?
If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream
My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.
    mannyace wrote:
Also, something i forgot to ask initially: Should I update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8 first or does that not matter?
If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

  • How do I change my apple ID & Icloud ID?

My kids and I have been sharing the same apple ID and icloud ID so updates mess up all our phones cause eveyones info gets put together then downloaded onto each phone.  So I want to make a seperate account for each of us so our stuff stays on the right phone.  So how do I change my apple ID & Icloud ID and any other ID's without losing anything?

you can make separate ids, however purchases only follow original ids.  sounds like you need to turn off auto downloads in settings -  itunes and app store.  now you can create separate icloud accounts, but in itunes you will have to repurchase the things you want on those devices.
    Peace, Clyde

  • I have a new email address and updated it with my apple id/icloud and updated on my iPhone, but i'm getting a pop up to enter my password with my old email address listed for iCloud/Apple id.

I have a new email address and updated my apple id/icloud  with the new address. I updated on my iPhone, but i'm keep getting a pop up to enter my password with my old email address listed for iCloud/Apple id.  How do I get it to go away?

Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID.

To change your iCloud ID, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

  • Is there any other method so that I can contact Apple to get IMEI number ? since the phone was shyncronized several times in apple store / iCloud.

Hello community members, my iPhone has been stolen and I tried to contact police, they are asking for IMEI number of the phone. Unfortunately I could not read the IMEI number on the box due to moisture wiped out most of the number on it. I sacanned it in and enhanced, I'm still unable to read out the number. Is there any other method so that I can contact Apple to get IMEI number ? since the phone was shyncronized several times in apple store / iCloud.

If you backed up your iPhone in iTunes on your computer -
Open iTunes - Edit - Preferences - Devices - See Device Backups in the Window.
Hover mouse/curser on any backup. Read IMEI and Serial no. your of iPhone.

  • How to reset an iPad with a pre-existing Apple ID/iCloud acct?

We just bought a new (to us) iPad mini to use at our preschool in one of our classrooms.  The iPad mini came with a pre-existing account still loaded on it and will not let me set it up like the other 6 we already own (with our school's Apple ID/iCloud acct.  What can I do to get this setup other than trying to contact the previous owner (which we have and haven't received an answer)?
    Thanks in advance!

You can't reset the code. The only option you have is to restore the device as new.

  • HT204053 i purchased icloud but cannot find it and install it on my macbook

can someone help me with this problem?

You can't purchase iCloud because it is free. You have to install 10.7.2 or later in order for iCloud to be installed on your computer.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

I think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
    On iPhone:
    Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
    On Mac:
    Open "Messages" application
    Click "Messages menu > Preferences
    Click "Accounts"
    Select your AppleID account
Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble.  If it's green then you are using SMS.

  • Splitting my Apple ID/iCloud into two

For years, I've had just one Apple ID (and it's a defunct @mac.com address). It's worked fine, but now I want to split my identity... I want to have one Apple ID for iTunes and the App Store, and another one for everything else: contacts, calendar, notes, reminders, iCloud, etc. I'm sharing the iTunes Store one with my daughters, so we can share purchases, but I don't want to share everything else with them.
Seems like I have two options, both requiring a second Apple ID (which I've already created against a different email address).
    1) Move everything to the new account, except iTunes.
    2) Move iTunes to the new account, leave everything else and change the password.
I'm not sure if option 2 is possible.
Is there an easy way to port all my info from one Apple ID (iCloud stuff) to another? Most of what I've seen involves exporting and importing, one thing at a time.
Any other thoughts on how I might accomplish this? Maybe there's a third option I haven't considered.
    Thanks!

Everything can be migrated from your iOS device except Notes and any synced documents, such as iWork documents.  Your notes can be emailed to yourself, then recreated in the new account by copying/pasting the text into new notes.  iWork documents can be saved to your iOS device by going (for example) to Settings>Pages, turning off Use iCloud, then opening the Pages app and choosing to keep the documents on your device.  Once signed into your new account, go back and turn Use iCloud back on and the documents will be added to your new account when you reopen the app(s).
To migrate to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos on your iOS that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, open each of them and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  If you are syncing iWork documents, save these to your device as mentioned above.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password (if using iOS 7) and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
You will only have to do this on the first iOS device.  On your other iOS devices, just save any photo stream photos that you want to keep on the device, delete the account, and provide your password and choose Delete from My iDevice (since the data is already in your new account) when prompted.  Then sign back in with your new ID.
On your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, and choose Delete at all of the prompts.  Then sign back in with your new ID and the iCloud data will download from the new account.
