HT204053 can a imac support mutilple iclouds i.e. can ecah family member have ther own cloud

Can an IMAC support multiple iclouds, i.e. can each family member have their own cloud

You can do this, but each family member will need a separate email address in order to set up an iCloud account; and each will need their own user account on the Mac in order to keep the iCloud accounts separate.

  • How can a family member have an email account on iCloud, separate from mine?

We're changing ISPs, and so my wife needs a new e-mail address. How can I switch her to @me.com, or @mac.com?

She just needs to sign up for iCloud in her own user account on your Mac.
    See: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html
She won't get an @mac.com email address though. New ones of those haven't been available for years.

  • When I try to set up family sharing I get "This account is already shared by another family member. Family sharing works best if every family member uses their own account." how do I reset?  I can't find where it is being used.

    Hi jmeckoll1,
It sounds as if you are trying to set up family sharing starting with an Apple ID which someone has already used to start a family group. Presumably this person is within the family group you want to share with. One solution to this issue would be to ask to join this family group. See this article -
OS X Yosemite: Join a family
If this is not the desired result, you will need to set up your own family group using an unused Apple ID that is in use for iCloud. See this article -
OS X Yosemite: Set up Family Sharing
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Hello lynnettefromsk,
The article linked below details all of the locations that you may need to change your Apple ID. This process should not affect the state of anything on the device at the time.

  • How can I use 2 Apple IDs in Itunes? I have 2 IOS Devices. They each have there own AppleID. What is the proper way to sync both of them to Itunes?

How can I use 2 Apple IDs in Itunes? I have 2 IOS Devices. They each have there own AppleID. What is the proper way to sync both of them to Itunes? I wanted my teenager's AppleID to be different from mine so that she couldn't charge stuff to my AppleID, therefore I created me another one. Now when I go to Sync either device, it tells me that this IOS device can only be synced with one AppleID. Then I get a message to erase it, not going to do that, lol. If I logout as one ID and login as the other, will it still retain all synced information on the PC from the first IOS device? If I can just log in out of the AppleID, then I have no problem doing that as long as the synced apps, music, etc stays there for both. I am not trying to copy from one to the other, just want to make sure I have a backup for the UhOh times. If logging in and out on the same PC of multiple AppleIDs is acceptible then I need to be able to authorize the PC for both devices. Thanks for the help. I am new to the iOS world.

    "Method Three
Create a separate iTunes library for each device. Note:It is important that you make a new iTunes Library file. Do not justmake a copy of your existing iTunes Library file. If iTunes is open, quit it.
This one may work. I searched and searched on the website for something like this, I guess I just didn't search correctly, lol. I will give this a try later. My daughter is not be back for a few weekends, therefore I will have to try the Method 3 when she comes back for the weekend again. "
I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

  • HT5622 My whole family shares an Apple ID so that we can share apps, games, calendars, etc..  Is this the best way to do that?  Can we each have our own cloud if we share an Apple ID?

My whole family share and Apple ID so that we can share games, apps, calendars, etc..  Is there a better way to do this, and can we each have our own cloud for each device while sharing an Apple ID?

  • Hello.  I just bought my first Imac.  Each family member has created an account.  My question is: can each account/family member create their own imesssages, so that each family member can imessage privately?

Hello.  I just bought my first Imac.  Each family member has created an account.  My question is: can each person use imessages privately when logged into their account?  instead of everyone seeing everyones imessages?  is there a way to do this?

I believe the short answer tot that is "yes" however I recommend you contact AppleCare to find out You have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support when you buy any new Mac. This is the ideal time to begin using it. I'd also recommend that you purchase AppleCare, it will extend your 1 year warranty to 3 years and offer you 3 years of telephone support in addition to other services. You can locate the correct phone number in your part of the planet (Calgary, Canada??) by clicking Contact Apple for support and service

  • Can different family member accounts share an address book in iCloud?

we have a primary mobileme account which is now set up in icloud.  we have a family pack with a secondary family member account set up for my wife's business email.  This secondary account now also has its own icloud account that we set up.  Works fine.  The question is this - when my wife is logged in to her icloud secondary account and looking at her work-related emails, how can she access the addresses in the address book that is linked to the main icloud account?  She is usually working from a PC so it's not a matter of just looking at the local copy of the address book.  She needs to log out of the secondary icloud account, log in to the primary, look up the address, and then go back to the secondary account to send the email from her work email address.  Too cumbersome.  And icloud does not seem to like having two instances of icloud running at the same time on the same computer.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks -
    Joel

    You're welcome.

    Bank card - no.
    Gift cards - yes.
    Family purchases and payments:
"After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card."

  • How can my 7yr old have her own iTunes account to sync to her iPod, when our only other home computers are all already linked into other iTunes accounts and other iPods?

My husband, my 13yr old, and myself all have our own computers, with our own iTunes accounts which sync up to our own iPods. But now my 7yr old has her iPod (nano) and wants to put her own songs on it, but we aren't sure how to go about doing that since each computer already only recognizes our own iPods. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!...Thanks!

  • HT4847 can you share icloud storage space with a family member?

I used to have MobileMe family, and my wife and I are now both receiving alerts that we are running out of icloud space. Can you buy a shared icloud plan?
    Thanks

If you are both using the same Apple ID, then you can share the iCloud storage that you have. However sharing an Apple ID for iCloud is not really recommended, it results in confusion over contacts, calendar, notes etc etc.

  • Can a family member use my iCloud storage for photos?

Hope I'm not being obtuse, but the answer to this isn't clear to me from the various "help" menus.
The situation is complicated by my living 50 miles from my elderly father.
I need about 50 GB for my photos, but have to pay for 200, of course.
So, is there a way for my Dad, who is a member of my iCloud/App/Whatever family to move HIS photo library from HIS computer to MY iCloud account without having to purchase more iCloud space for his personal account? (His photo library also - barely - exceeds the limit of the next increment of storage available so that i'll have to buy him 200GB if there isn't a way to share the storage from my iC account.
Hope this question is understandable - I don't know how else to frame it.
    Thank you for all responses.

Duh! Nevermind. I think I definitely WAS being obtuse about how to share photos.

  • HT204053 Can't access my songs on the cloud

My wife and daughter share a computer and each signs on to their own user account. EMy wife and daughter both have an iPhone and seperate Apple IDs. I signed up my wife for the iTunes Match service and backed everything up. It took a long time, she had a lot of songs. Now when we try to log onto iTunes Match, I keep getting the menu asking me to sign up for it. After a few tries I decided to sign up again (its only $25 and not worth this aggravation) only I get an error message this computer is already associated with another iTunes account and I won't be able to automatically download from any other account for 90 days. ***? I try to access Itunes cloud from iphone and computer and neither shows any of the music that is supposed to be up there. It's like it all vanished. Anybody else have this happen? How do you fix it?

Try going to Store>Sign Out in iTunes, the sign in again (Store>Sign In) with the ID associated with your iTunes Match account.  Then go to Store>Turn on iTunes Match, then click Add this Computer when prompted.
