HT204053 Can I merge two apple IDs?

Problem: My email account was hacked so I had to get a new email and so I thought I need to create a new apple id... so now I have two apple ids; is there any way that I can merge the two or transfer the purchases from one to the other?

You can't do this on your own; if one Apple ID is completely inaccessible, click here and request assistance.

  • HT204053 Can you merge two Apple IDs into one?  It was a common issue caused by the iPhone 4 and has been corrected, but transferring purchases in iTunes is a pain with two IDs.

For a brief time when iPhone 4, iOS 4 came out, many of us ended up with two Apple IDs.  I want to know if anyone can please provide me with simple step-by-step instructions on merging two Apple IDs into one?  It would make transferring purchases on iTunes much easier and reliable.  I realize i desperately need an iOS update, but i had no laptop for over two years!  I'm posting a cry for help on that in another community.  Thank you all.

    No,
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. Apple will not merge two Apple IDs, nor will Apple transfer content from one ID to another.

  • Can't merge two apple IDs and can't download purchases from both onto the same iMac

Some time ago I discovered that I had inadvertently created two apple IDs. One that I had used many years ago as a student and then the other I created when I bought my first iPhone. These days I only use the newer account I created however I still own a few songs which were purchased on the older account back when I was a student. SO recently I logged into the older account to get those old songs that I'd purchased and download them onto my work iMac - GREAT! ...Right up until I wanted to now download some newer songs I'd recently purchased directly onto my iPhone using the new account - UH-OH! NOPE! I'm not allowed to download those songs for 90 days! Are you frickin kidding me?! They're both MY accounts! They're both linked to me - use the same details, same address, same credit card, same everything else!!! But apple won't let me download songs that I now own for 3 months onto my iMac because I happen to have two accounts. This is insanely ridiculous! I would happilly merge the two accounts if it was possible but of course there is no way to do this either. I understand that the intention is to stop people from sharing songs by linking to a friends apple ID and downloading their songs, however I am in no way trying to do this. I just want to have access to all the songs that I own on all my machines. I want to listen to songs that I have legitimately purchased on my work machine as well as on my iPhone, my iPad and my home iMac. Surely this is not too much to ask? C'mon apple!! Can't you find a way to either link/merge my two accounts or to verify that they both belong to the same person so I don't run into this problem? I don't think I should have to wait 3 months to get access to songs I have purchased!

    1. Click here and ask the iTunes Store staff for assistance.
    2. Use the Transfer Purchases function to import them from the iOS devices, and manually move the iTunes libraries between the computers.

  • Can you merge two apple ids

I have two Apple id's. Not sure why. but one is for my iPod that was set up a long time ago and what I use for iTunes. The is for my iPhone. I want to use the itunes cloud storage so i can listen to my music on my iPhone but i'm guessing that won't work if you have two id's. Of couse they'd need to match. Can you merge two id's? I would like to simplify anyway and just have one.
    Thanks.

    No.

  • HT204053 Can I merge two Apple ID accounts

I have two Apple IDs, just cos I didn't really understand what I was doing when I set the first one up years ago and now I have two. Some purchases are on one and some are on the other. It also gets confusing with iCloud. Is it possible to merge the two accounts without losing any of the purchases or saved data?

It isn't possible to merge them at all.

  • HT204053 Can I merge my apple IDs?

I just got an ipad mini and tried signing in with my "boodahpuhnk" apple ID, but it said it needed to be an e-mail, so i used "[email protected]" which is the mail associated with my "boodahpuhnk" ID. But now when I log in to the itunes store with "[email protected]" it shows that I have $0 in credit, but when I login with "boodahpuhnk" it shows me the $20 in credit that I have. I would love to be able to use that credit to buy apps for my ipad, which is set up with the "[email protected]" ID... how can I do that?
    Thank you!

  • HT204053 Can you merge multiple Apple IDs?

I have somehow collected 3 IDs over the years and want to merge them so I don't keep having to log out and resign in every time I need to update my apps on my iPhone and iPad.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

You can use both accounts on your device for Mail, Contacts, Calendars and afew more iCloud services, but you can only set up one account for services like documents and app data, backup and also only one account for iTunes & Store purchases (automatic download option or iTunes Match)

  • HT204053 Can you combine two apple ids so i only have one?

My one apple id has all the itunes on it. Somehow I am on a separate one. Can I combine them?

Yes, you can change the Apple ID to which your phone is tied. Delete your existing iCloud address and provide the new one. Do the same for your email.

  • Can I Merge two Apple IDs?

Back around early 2004, I downloaded iTunes for Windows and soon bought my first iPod. I used an email address I had at that time which I'm really ready to retire. When the iPhone 3G came out, I bought that and added a mobile me account with a new @me email. Beginning with Mobile Me, the iPhone and continuing with my iMac and MacBook, I have used the @me email as my Apple ID. However, my iTunes purchases are still made with the old Apple ID. Everything else is done with my new Apple ID.
Is there anyway I can change my store account to the new Apple ID and still keep all my purchases? It would simplify life alot and I could get rid of an old, otherwise unused email address.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

  • Can I merge two Apple IDs?  How do I get back to my original ID?

I have been using iTunes for years.  I have my Apple ID for iTunes.  When I purchased an iPhone, the setup person didn't ask me if I had an existing Apple ID.  He created a new one.  I want to use my original iTunes for all of my devices.  What do I do?

Sign out of your new account and sign in to the old one.
iTunes > Store > Sign out
If all your purchases were made using the old Apple ID continue to use it. Don't use the new one. They cannot be merged.
