HT204053 Can multiple apple ID users share the iPad easily?

Hi, just purchased the new IPad for me and my partner to share, we both have apple ID's and assumed we could easily access emails etc. Does anyone know how we can both get equal share of the device? Cannot find a way to swap between ID's except in music when warnings indicate that another user would not be able to use iPad for 90 days, hence we did not continue. Are they really only designed for single person usage?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
The iPad is more of a personal device than a family device, you may however be interested in adding secondary iCloud accounts (settings > mail, contacts, calendars)
You can only have one primary account but multiple secondary accounts, secondary accounts cannot use photostream or document sharing.

  • How can multiple apple Id's share the same iTunes library?

We are now starting to venture into teenagers and ore-teens. I would like to create multiple ID's for messaging and contacts, but I still want to use the same library... Is that an option?

Yes they have different sign ins for iCloud, FaceTime, Messages and iTunes, you can all use the same ID to sign into iTunes but use different ones for the others.

  • HT202213 Can multiple Apple ID's share one computer and music?

My husband and I want to share music but have 2 separate apple ID's. Is there any way for us to share music?

The easiest way is for each user to have their own iTunes library in their own Windows user account on that computer.
To create a new user account:  Start > Control Panel > Add or remove user accounts.  (That is the Windows 7 version; it may look slightly different in another version of Windows.

  • Can 2 Apple ID's share the same cloud?

Trying to back up my husbands Iphone to iCloud.  Was hoping to just use mine???  Not sure how things work here.  Does he need to create one for himself and pay for it?
Thanks in advance for the help

    Hi jojoross219,
First of all, it is possible for your husband to use iCloud as a free service. He can have an iCloud account with 5GB of storage without paying. See this page -
Apple - iCloud - Everything you love, everywhere you go.
This article gives you an idea of what iCloud actually backs up -

Multiple devices can use the same iCloud account for backups if desired. See this article -

My wife and I want to communicate with Face Time and we currently only have one email account.  Can 2 Face Time users share the same email account ?

You can not use one account to make a video call right through the app FaceTime I recommend creating an account only to call when you ask for a payment you put in "none" and that's all

  • HT204053 can you have multiple apple id's for the family but we all use the same iCloud?

Can you have multiple apple id's for the family members but we all us the same iCloud account?

You'll have to have an ID you all share in order to have a shared iCloud account. It would be sensible for each person to have their own ID and their own iCloud account for email and their own data (each would be on their own computer/iOS device or user account on a Mac) and then have a common account which everyone would sign into in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts and Calendars to access shared data.
You don't want to be all using the email in a common account - if people are using email aliases remember these can't be detached from the account and transferred to another one. Having all your emails mixed up together can be somewhat impracticable.

iOS does not support multiple users like a desktop OS does.
You can use a web interface to your respective email accounts
to keep things separate; but there is no provision for otherwise
    separating photos, media, etc.
If you wish, you can contact Apple to let them know of your desire:

can you have multiple Apple TV's in the same house and network? If so how do you know which one to pick from your Idevice?

Yes, there are even defaults for naming them, such as LivingRoom, Bedroom, etc, or you can even enter your own name with the remote for each AppleTV.

  • Can multiple Apple ID's be on the same iCloud

Can multiple Apple ID's be with the same iCloud?

It's not intuitive but it's possible. You must set up your external drive using the APT partition map. Install the PPC version of OS X on one partition. Now here's the trick: You must install an Intel version of Leopard on a drive that has been partitioned using GPT. Then clone that installed version to another partition the external drive that now has the PPC version of Leopard. You now have a PPC version of Leopard on one partition and in Intel version on the other partition. You will find you can boot an Intel Mac from that partition even though the drive is partitioned APT.
The problem is that Leopard will not allow itself to be installed on an APT partitioned drive. But an Intel version of Leopard will work just fine from an APT partitioned drive.

  • Can two apple TV's in the same house share one itunes library?

Can two apple TV's in the same house share one itunes library and play different movies at the same time?

I have two ATV G2 and one ATV G1 at home with the same iTunes library. I have played two different movies in the ATVs. One interesting thing you get is that you can start one movie and pause it and then you can continue playing it in the other ATV. The iTunes controls where you pause or stop the movie.
Agree that bandwidth is the limit here and probably the server throughput. But, so far I haven't experienced any problem.

How can a digital copy be used in a household with multiple apple ids, synced on the same computer?  I want to put a digital copy on my device, and on my wife's device.
    Please help.

    you're welcome.
actually, unless you take an extra step, the first opened swf will close.  if you want the 2nd to close, the initial receiving lc will send a message to sender that causes the sender to close.

  • My wife and I share the iPad. Can we set up separate accounts to log in (like on our Mac)?

My wife and I share the iPad. Can we set up separate accounts to log in (like on our Mac)?

Good question, but I'm 99.9% certain the answer is "no".  Here are some considerations:
Think of the heritage of iOS.  It really started with iPhones and maybe iPods.  These devices cost a whole lot less than a Mac.  They are generally not thought of as shared (with exceptions, of course, as is true for you).
Think of the backup process.  i-devices typically sync with one iTunes on one computer.  How would an i-device with multiple users enstantiate this?
Anyway, all this is to say I'm convinced you cannot do what you're inquiring about.

  • HT204053 using multiple apple ID's

Should a family with multiple apple devices all use the same apple id in order to put music downloads and AP's all all devices?  We currently have 3 iphones, 1 ipad and 2 ipods!  we manage this with playlists but what about AP's?  We manage the music with individual playlists, but every time I open itunes, all of my daughters ap's begin downloading.
wodnering if there is a better way....I don't know alot about managing all the devices and using icloud.

If you don't want to pay multiple times for each item you purchase, for each device, then define the Apple ID in settings>iTunes Store...  the same for each device.
However, when you sync each device to itunes, you can control which apps are to be synced to the device, same for music.  Just look at each tab in itunes (for any given device) to set the items you want.

2 iPods, 2 accounts but same music files, Can I point both users to the same music files, or do I have to have a seperate copy on each user account?
Me and the wife both have an iPod, and Ive read there easier to manage if you use 2 user accounts.
However, can I store all my music MP3s in one place on the HDD, and just point each user account's iTunes to the one place?
Or do you have to have the music in each users folder?
Sorry Im brand new to Mac and an (ex) PC user
