HT204053 does my apple id affect mac mail

When I forget and change my Apple ID password, does it have anything to do with my Mac Mail? It seems like every time I change the Apple ID password, I begin to have trouble with my outgoing mail service but I can't for the life of me understand where I need to change these things. It immediately messes up my Apple TV (I have to change the password there after I change it online.) What are all the things associated with my Apple ID Password and where do I need to change them? Thank you.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have been in the Mail > Preferences > Accounts section for a while now and it seems the password is OK. I get mail. I am logged on and the outgoing server (and icoming servers) give me the "green light". It's just that when I try to send mail, it goes to the outbox... and the send mail notice begins spinning and never stops, even if the mail is in the outbox but no longer in the sending mode. Very frustrating. ,
So I'm asking you what do you want me to do in the Mail > Preferences > Accounts area that might change this situation?
thanks --

  • The graphic HTML signature panel does not appear in my Mac mail

The graphic HTML signature panel does not appear in my Mac mail. I have inserted the signature after reading on the forum. But the images do not download - the rest of the text in the signature is in place - just the logo and the baseline which is a graphic file does not download.  Please help.

Hi, are the pics at a remote location, or on your Mac?
Have you tried drag & dropping the graphics on the signature window?

  • When I send a message using hotmail.co.uk, it does not appear in my Mac Mail sent box. How do I rectify this?

I am using Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.2) on my MacBook (mid-2009); Mail version 6.1 (1498).
My incoming mail server is pop3.live.com (Hotmail).
When I send an email on the Hotmail website, it does not register in my Mac Mail sent box.
    How do I rectify this?
Many thanks for your help in advance.

You have to send it from the Mail program on the Mac not the website. When you send it from the website it is in the sent folder on the website.
I handle all my mail in the Mac Mail program never the website.

  • HT2500 How does one set up an .mac mail account?

One of our MSN Hotmail accounts has been hacked, and a friend (who has an Apple .mac account) has suggested that we should be using .mac mail accounts but I cannot find out how to set one up. Do I have to go down to the Apple store to find out or . . . . I must be able to do this online?

Sign up for iCloud or use a service such as Gmail.

  • Does changing Apple ID affect TestFlight beta apps?

Basically I want to change my Apple ID email address (the main one) and I am also a beta tester for a few apps using TestFlight. I just want to know if changing my Apple ID would affect getting updates from those developers in the future or will it update on their end automatically?

Apple ID's can be used for anything, a single ID can be used for all your accounts (ie iCloud, iTunes, MAS, Apple community etc), ideally this would be the way forward. So far as iTunes goes you need to continue to use the same ID as you have always used or you will lose access to your previous purchases and your iTunes match subscription.
If you are using a second ID for iCloud, you can continue to do so or use the ID you use for iTunes, but if you choose the later you will need to move all your calendar, contact etc data to the account using the ID you use for iTunes.
When (if) you change which account you use you would delete the account on an iOS device and log back in with the correct details, on a mac you would sign out in the iCloud system preference pane.

  • Does the Heartbleed Bug affect macs?

I have been hearing about the heartbleed bug and just wondering if it is affecting Apple products?

The Heartbleed issue is a server, not a client, issue. In short, yes, it doesn't matter what you are running to connect to a site, the issue lies in what the server has installed for SSL. But the risk is not in infecting your Mac as much as stealing your login and other information.

  • PDF does not deliver sometimes with Mac mail even though it shows in my sent mailbox

Sometime when I attach a PDF I'm mail on my MacBook Pro the email delivers without the PDF even though it shows in my sent mail.
This happens with 2 different mail boxes, one being pop3 and the other mail for exchange..
I had to eventually install outlook which I've never had a problem
I prefer not to use any Microsoft products

    HI,
The PDF, which is probably being sent as an attachment, maybe larger than the Outgoing Mail server will allow.

  • Does the Conficker worm affect Macs sharing a network with a PC?

I asked this on Yahoo! Answers, but I am not sure. I want to receive an answer from a reliable Macintosh user.
My sister and I share the same network to access the internet, but she is a PC owner while I run a Mac. Will I be affected by this worm?

  • My Apple TV affecting Mac Book Pro?!

Recently, my wife and I were sitting on the couch.  I was working on my Mac Book Pro (2010) and she was fiddling around with the Apple TV (trying to get AirPlay to work with YouTube after that blasted "upgrade" to iOS 6).  Anyway, at some point, the on-screeen volume control popped up as if I had just lowered the volume using my keyboard!  Huh?  A few seconds later it happened again.  It turned out that my wife's press of the "down" arrow appeared to occasionally - but not always - invoke the volume control on my Mac!
Now, I searched a little on this forum and saw that one can pair the Apple TV remote with the Mac via IR.  But we hadn't done that!  Is this a known bug?

Yes, there is a difference between a design feature and a bug ( and/or design flaw).  I didn't say there wasn't.  Since leaving a device open for others to manipulate without the consent of the owner doesn't seem like something a responsible engineer would do intentionally, I believe it's a bug or design flaw rather than a "feature".  Unless you're friends with the Apple designers and know their intent, you have no way of knowing that leaving the IR open was by design (vs. bug).  I don't need to "redefine" any terms in order to make this perfectly logical argument.
You say that my boss and I have proven that it's not a problem.  Not at all!  My boss and I have proven that most people probably don't even know of the existence of IR on the Macs and wouldn't know how to react when they find their volume control "mysteriously" going up/down.
You say "You indicate you don't know System Preferences..."
Nowhere in my post did I say that I don't know "System Preferences".  I said that this particular system preference is difficult to find.  Since my Mac gives no visual indication that there is an IR port active (such as an LED) and there is no OBVIOUS system preference that points it out, the average user won't know about it nor turn it off.  Since the average user won't turn it off, it stays on.  Since it stays on, it's easy for someone to have some fun with Mac users.  It is not so hard to understand how this faulty arrangement may lead people who wouldn't appreciate being manipulated by someone's IR to, nonetheless, not do anything to protect themselves - because they don't know that there is a need to!

  • How does LizaMoon Fake AV affect Mac users?

I somehow was redirected to the fake AV site. Although it obviously was a bogus Windows enticement, I was not able to know for sure what happened if anything. The Firefox window is automatically minimized, (which I think should just not be allowed by FF) and I was not able to force quit FF. When I killed FF it restarted with the same maladjusted AV window. Is there a way of checking if I did install something I may not want, or dropped a latent file that will attack my Windows virtual machine in Parallels?

Not yet... I might be able to download it to the old Windows machine then home share it to the new machine though... presumably if I download it to the Mac it'll lock it to my ID?
To be honest, reading all the (very sales-focussed) blurb, it sounds as if I have no choice. Auto Download is off on everything, so as not to trigger the lock-in, so if I have the choice I'll obviously not download it.

  • Can't get mac mail boxes to receive or send

My email stopped receiveing or sending a couple of days ago. I have ATT as ESP & went through their tech support to help me get it back up & running. However, it still does not work with my mac mail. I have to log onto my email through the ATT website. I have deleted and re-created all of my mailboxes - and am receiving emails on my primary account. None of my subaccounts are receiving and none of my accounts can send. The SMTP says "offline" and I haven't been able to get it online. All of my accounts are set up as POP - they were IMAP, and that seemed to be an issue with ATT. I don't carewhich as I don't have other devices that I receive emails on.
Does anyone have advice on how to get my mac mail back to good health?

    Hi cindy2227!
I have an article for you that can help you troubleshoot this mail issue a little further. The article will walk you through some troubleshooting steps to ascertain the root of the issue, and can be found here:

  • Mac Mail on 10.7.5-email account offline?

Stumped. Trying to help a friend out.
    Mac OS 10.7.5 combo installed.
Mac Mail account shows offline. Take online, send/receive. Resets to offline.
Checked server settings (waiting for official setting from web hosting site that email is based on).
Curious, would email settings that are NOT the ISP server (i.e. Using Comcast as provider but only send/receive mail of the web domain host) cause issue?
(like blocked by comcast if they think outgoing email is a relay...no more than 20 messages an hour or 200 a day)
I've seen a few posts that others have this under 10.7.5. Before I recommend upgrade to 10.8.3 (drastic and unneeded but who knows), anyone have suggestions on what to look for? And yes, will backup BEFORE removing any prefs or other...
Odd that it was all working. It is not consistent. Thanks for any enlightenment.

Ok, I think I solved this. It was odd. I had friend's acct info and everything correct except one thing.
I accidentally found that in the SMTP advanced setting, where you have two areas to fill in, Description and Server for the mail server. The description had some arbitrary name like "P" for the P mail... server. Making the Description have the same name as the actual Server (mail.example.net) in both places caused the account to not only go online, but work as intended! (I was monitoring with Connection Doctor window open).
I found this extremely odd and by accident (I was compating another mac, configured with same account info but older OS. I noticed it had different information in this area).
I am suspect that something along the migration (from 10.4.11->10.5.8->10.6->10.7.5) from a G5 to MacPro 2012 left something behind that affected Mac Mail prefs.
