How can i back up my photos beside icloud?

If you go in your phone to Settings, Icloud, photo stream, and turn the selection on, your phone will send your photos to your desktop computer.  You have to install and turn on the ICloud panel on your home computer, and also toggle on, photo stream, it will create a folder in My Pictures called My Photo Stream.  Just copy and save this folder somewhere else on your computer, or your external hard drive, then continue to copy and paste your new photos into this folder from time to time.  Then you will have backups in two places..

ive got a new pc with windows 7 and my ipod touch 4th gen is synced with my old pc ,how can i back up the photos and music on the ipod to my new pc ?

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content such as music, videos, and photos synced to the device, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different software available to assist you with this task.

Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

If you do happen to lose any purchased content, you can always redownload it from the iTunes Store again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for information.

  • HT201269 I am trying to save memory on my iPhone 4S/ ios6. Can I back up all photos to icloud and the external hard disk I normally use for photos? If I then delete photos from the iPhone do the get deleted on iCloud?

I am trying to save memory on my iPhone 4S/ ios6.
    1) Can I back up all photos to icloud and the external hard disk I normally use for photos? If I then delete photos from the iPhone do the get deleted on iCloud?
    2) Can I back up the newsstand to iCloud and save memory on the iPhone?
    3) Can I back up the bookshelf to icloud and save memory on the iPhone?

    1. What format is the external drive? It sounds like it's ina format that Macs can't write to. Is it a NAS or NTFS?
    2. Easiest thing: just move your iPhoto Library to the external
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How can i see(view) my photos in iCloud before deleteing it?

how can i see(view) my photos in iCloud before deleteing it?

What photos, photos in your photo stream? If so, these can only be viewed:
On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, your photos will appear in the Photos app in the Photo Stream album.
On your Mac, they appear in the Photo Stream view in iPhoto or Aperture.
On a PC, your photos download to the Photo Stream download folder. By default, this folder is located atC:\Users\Apple\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream. You can change this location by visiting Photo Stream Options in the iCloud Control Panel for Windows.
On Apple TV, your photos will appear in the Photo Stream view under Internet in the main Apple TV menu after you sign in with your iCloud account.

  • How can I back up my photos from my iPad to my mac without using iPhoto?

    Hi guys!
My iPad screen broke down. The sound still works but the screen doesn't. I was wondering if anyone knows the approximate cost of replacing it? It's not cracked or anything.
Also I want to back up my photos but whenever I try backing them up with iPhoto, iPhoto says there's an error. Is there any other way to back it up? I've tried backing them up from itunes to my computer but I'm not sure where it went.. When I looked through the Mobile Application folder, all I see is my apps.
If anyone knows the answers to my questions, please let me know asap! Thanks guys!

  • How do I back up Apeture photos to iCloud?

    Hi
Appreciate any ideas folks may have on this one.  I've signed up for iCloud and photostream is working nicely.  I was hoping that I could use iCloud as a backup application for my Mac.  Most precious item is photos and videos.  I've tried both Carbonite and Mozy and found them both lacking in performance.
Is there a way of using iCloud as a back up for Mac files?  I've searched and can't find anything.

You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.  This is covered in the manual.
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
iCloud is not designed as a storage location to archive photos.  If you backup your device to iCloud, then only the photos in camera roll will be backed up.  And the only way to get them back is to restore a device using the backup - you can't selectively restore individual photos.  Use photo stream as a way to sync photos to other devices (again, don't count on it as a storage location), but the stream has limitations, up to 1000 photos and they store for up to 30 days.  Bottom line, sync to a computer using USB to get photos into a safe archive.

  • HT204053 how can i change the apple ID on iCloud?

i updated my email address on my apple ID but when i connect to icloud there's still the old email address and when i type in the password it doesn't sign in... how can i manage to change the password also on icloud?
    thank you

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

  • How can I back-up my photos that are in my iPhoto to an external hard drive without using the iPhoto structure.

I am attempting to back-up my entire MacBook Pro on an external hard drive before deleting everything from the MacBook Pro. Although I appreciate iPhotos photo structure and organization, I would prefer to back my photos up outside of the iPhotos structure, using “regular files” such as it appears in iPhoto’s “Masters” folder.  However, I would like the Event names that are currently assigned to my iPhotos to remain attached to the photos.  Is there a simple way to do any of this? Would this be a matter of somehow exporting each Event from my iPhoto? THANKS!

Just export the them: File -> Export:

Remember that the Masters won't contain any of the changes that you made, only the files exactly as copied from the camera.
Thanks, Terence.  As far as filenames go...does "Album Name and Number" work for keeping my Events together?

Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

  • How can I see my old photos from icloud?

I saved everything in icloud before I totally reset my phone. Is it still possible to see my photos from itunes?

I would not expect anything to download, since streaming only starts when you turn on photostream on the device and you just turned it on. Once you make first picture it will stream right away. Check out photostream FAQs.

in order to get all pictures from old phone, you need to create old phone back up and restore new phone from that back up.

  • HT204053 How can i get my kids off my icloud???

We have 4 devices.  1 iphone 4s, 1 iphone 4 and 2 ipad minis.  We are all on the same itunes and icloud acct.  I have the 4s and my daughter the 4.  I am trying to get her off of my info and icloud since all of her contacts are on my phone!!  She has an icloud email but I dont think an icloud acct.  Even though I set her phones icloud acct to her email it still shoes up on my phone!!!  HELP!!

That could only happen if you are sharing the same iCloud account.  Also you can't have an iCloud email account without an iCloud account; the email account is only set up with you create an iCloud account and turn Mail syncing to On in Settings>iCloud.
Check the account name shown at the top of Settings>iCloud on all your devices to see which ones are sharing your account.  To correct this, each person's device(s) needs to have it's own iCloud account.  (Note: you can continue to share the same iTunes account/ID.  It does not need to be the same as the ID used for iCloud.)
To migrate their device(s) to separate accounts, on each device go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  Your devices will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you have in your accounts you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want in each account (such as deleting their contacts from your account, and vice versa).
Each person should also have a different ID for iMessage and FaceTime to avoide getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.  If you're sharing the same ID now for these services, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.

You should call Apple Support and give them your Apple ID so that they can verify how many photos you actually do have backed up in iCloud...
Also, are you able to do an iTunes backup at all? Because that would save all of the photos and allow you to get them onto the new device.
