I have deleted my old user Apple ID, but now I cannot update the Apps I purchased with it. is there a way i can update without having to delete the app and install new one using my new ID?

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

You have to delete the old account, provide the password for the ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos that are not in your camera roll, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account (open your my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).

You can tap on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log in with the new account.
But any content that was purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps. You can try resetting the password for the old account by going to http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'

Ok, so for about 4 years I have been using my husbands apple id on my Mac and iPhone...now with Family Sharing I'm trying to switch both my Mac and iPhone over to my apple id. I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

You need to delete and redownload them to do that. This may require repurchasing paid ones.

There are a number of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app on their iPads - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.

Unfortunately there's no way to do this unless the game has a username and password that you sign in within the game format. If Apple allowed users to use different apple IDs and get the same purchase how would they ever make money?
Each purchase made on apps is associated with the Apple ID it was purchased under... they cant' be transferred or used by another Apple ID.

Apple ID changed to .mac and I can't update apps purchased with original ID

My Apple id changed from my original ID to .mac and I am not able to get updates on my iPhone apps that were purchased with the original Apple ID.
How can I update my apps?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
