HT204053 How do I authorize my ipod touch to my computer?

I need to authorize my ipod touch to my computer cause i cant download or update in my ipod touch any app!!!

You need to authorize your computer:
Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
  1. Open iTunes on a computer
  2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
  4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
  5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

All you have to do is not connect the iPod to your computer.
If he has his own Apple ID/iTunes account you can delete any media purchased with his account from your iTunes libary.
Unauthorize his account from your computer.
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
Delete the backup of his iPod from your computer: iTunes>Preferences>Devices.

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

Sanmannyer, just what are you smoking? iTunes can sync non-iTunes purchased music to any iPod and iOS devices (iPod touch, iPhone and iPad) as long as it is not DRM protected.
Would y plase stop posting incorrect information.

    - If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - Report to police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod.
    - Apple will not help
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
There is no way to prevent some one for restoring the iPod and using it themselves./selling it.

  • New Computer... how do I authorize my Ipod Touch w/o losing my music

Hi.. we have an ipod Touch... we got a new computer and want to authorize it to work with it but we keep getting a message "if you authorize this ipod to work with your computer you will lose all the music on your ipod".. is there a way to do this so we don't lose all our music?

Authorization does not apply to ipods. It has very little if anything to do with them.
Ipod touch will sync with one and only one computer. If you sync to another, it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
Just move everything from the old computer ( or your backup copy of the old computer) to the new one.

  • How can I restore my iPod Touch if my computer can't recognize it?

So I was downloading new apps from my ipod touch. I tried playing a game I had downloaded and after a few seconds the game would crash. This happened various times so I decided to reboot my ipod to see if it would work fine. After rebooting it, it wont turn back on, it justs stays at the screen with the apple logo. I left it there rebooting for several hours but still nothing would happen. I tried connecting it to my Mac to see if I could restore it but it won't even recognize it. I tried to reboot it several times afterwards but still nothing happens. I have my ipod Jailbroken but this has never happened before, and I have rebooted it before and it turns back on normally.

Jailbreaking frequently cause problems and is not recommended
Unauthorized modification of iOS has been a major source of instability, disruption of services, and other issues
Also, jalbreaking voids the Apple warranty and mean that Apple will not provide support. That includes support form this Apple forum.

  • How do I backup an ipod touch on a computer w/o doing everything separately and w/o using a cloud?

My daughter has games and music on her touch.  I just want to back it up on our computer.  It seems you have to do each component in a different way and it also seems it has to be on a cloud.  These can't be the only options.  I just want to create a backup so if the iPod crashes we can reload everything.  How can I accomplish that in the quickest way.  I'd like to set this backup up so that in the future we can quickly and easily create it again via synching.

iTunes places the backup file here:
Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac:~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
Windows Vista and Windows 7:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press theReturn key.
Yes, if something happens to the iPod, you can restore the iPod from backup.
You can copy the iTunes library as a backup by:
iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
You can also save the iPod backup there incase there is a problem with the computer.
Using the information in my first reply you can backup to you computer and transfer iTunes purchases to your computer as wll as to hers. You do not need iCloud.
If you have non-iTunes music on the iPod you will need a third-party program to transfer/copy them to a computer. Some are discussed here:
    newer copy

You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabilng the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Next, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials.
If possible, either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.  To do this, right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different software availbable to assist you with this task.

Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

  • How do i use 2 ipod touches with 1 itunes account?

how do i use 2 ipod touches with 1 itunes account?  can they share apps and music etc. I'm not very good at any tech so advise would be much appreciated.

Yes. You can sync an unlimited number of iDvies that you control to one iTunes library/account. If using the same iTunes library on the same comutr just make sure that yu go to the ap. music and other pane for the iPod in iTunes and select sycn selected items. Not the the whole library.  That way each iPod can have it own contents.
