HT204053 How do I change my iCloud account to my new apple ID?

I previously used my moms apple ID and had iCloud set up under her apple ID. I just got a new Mac and am setting up everything under my own apple ID. My iPhone and iPad are linked under the previous ID and I don't knwo how to change the account under iCloud. When it says DELETE ACCOUNT, does it just delete it from my device or does it deleteit for good?

If you want to change your iCloud ID to another existing ID you'll have to delete the account, create a new account with the other ID, and migrate your data to the new account.  Deleting the account only deletes if from the device, not from iCloud.  Any other devices still using the account will not be effected by this.
Before deleting the account, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll or you will lose them.  To do this, open the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On iPhone [iPad}.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You will need to save your photo stream photos, before you change your iCloud account.
Navigate to the photo stream album and into the photo sheet view (the one with all the thumbnails), click on the small rectangle with the arrow on it, in the top right corner of the screen and then tap each photo you wish to save. Once you have selected all the photos you want to save, tap the save button at the bottom of the screen and choose a new album to save them into.
Once you have done all this, you can delete your current iCloud account and enter your new one.

  • HT204053 how can i change my icloud account

My phone synced with my husband's when we updated to IOS because we used the same Apple ID.  Now, I don't want all of my pics going to his phone.  I have changed my Apple ID, but I havent found a way to change the iCloud account.

If you only renamed your iCloud ID, all you have to do is go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated ID.  (Note: this will only delete the account and any synced data from your phone, not from iCloud.  As long as you are signing back into the same account your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.)  Before deleting the account, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll or you will lose them.  To do this, open the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you created a new ID, you'll need to delete the account, create a new account with the new ID and migrate your data to the new account.  To do this, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using your new ID, then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.

  • How do I update my icloud account with my new apple id without losing all my backed up data?

I recently changed my apple id and password and I would like to know how to update my icloud account to reflect the new id.  I realize I can delete the old one and set up a new one, but the message that comes up tells me that all my backed up data will be deleted, would this delete the data and photos that are currently on my iPad?  Also, would I have to change my icloud email address?

First, there are apple IDs and their associated passwords.  You get the ID when creating a new icloud account.  You can also create an ID when setting up an iTunes store account.  You can have an icloud account and an iTunes account each using the same ID or different IDs.
So the question is, the ID that you changed...  what process did you use to change it and to which account was that ID associated with?
But.. to address your problem (you have one "old" ID for icloud that you have been using and now want to use a new ID - hence a new account), you must move your data from one account to another...
When connected to the account you want to GET data from, Go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.
When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.
After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.
Note that this only affects the "Apple data" like contacts, calendars, reminders, etc.  Many third party apps also use iCloud to store data files there.  These files may be lost in the process, unless the apps also keep the data locally on the device.
NOTE:  Photos in the photo stream (if you use it) will not transfer to the new account.  It is advised that you save the photos to a computer before performing the account switch.

  • HT204053 how do i change my icloud account information now that i have changed my apple id

i have changed my apple id due to an email address change but now how do i change the id on my icloud account, it will allow me to change the password but not the id

    Welcome to the Apple community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

  • HT204053 how can I change my icloud account on a my sons device

how can I set up an icloud account for my son and use that on his ipad,  it is currently set up using my icloud account

You can migrate his iPad to a separate iCloud account.  (You can do this and still continue to share the same ID for iTunes; the IDs don't need to be the same.)
To migrate to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iPad and provide the password to turn off Find My iPad.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your accounts.

  • My user id has changed but did not update in my ipad icloud account.  How do I change my icloud account to my new ID?

I changed my user id recently. But in my Ipad, Icloud setting, the ID has not changed.  How do I change the ID in Icloud settings?

You cannot change an Apple ID.  You presumably created a new one.
So go to Settings > iCloud, delete the old iCloud account from your iPad (down at the bottom), and then sign in with your new Apple ID.
If you have purchased material (e.g., iTunes music), you may well run into issues doing this change, in that your iTunes music is not authorized to play on your new Apple ID.

  • How do I change my iCloud account to my new appleID account? The original email account no longer exists.

Helpme. My email address for icloud no longer exists. I need to wtich it to the new apple ID account on icloud but its faded in Gray on my phone.

    Hello Sfloyd003,
The following article details the process of changing the signed in iCloud account on your device.
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.

  • HT204053 Having trouble changing my icloud account info to new apple id

I changed our apple id a while ago.  Our phones have not been backing up because I have been unsuccessful in changing my apple id under the icloud account information.  Under icloud in settings on my iphone, it still has listed my old apple id.(I tried to get into it but the old apple id and password arent matching up) I touched on the account to try to change my apple id but it is not letting me highlight that section to be able to change it.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Will_M123,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand you want to get all of your Apple devices on the same iCloud account. Are you receiving some kind of alert when you try to sign out of the iCloud account on the MacBook Pro? Please use the following information as a reference for signing out of iCloud.

  • How do i change the icloud account on my iphone to a different existing account

I have a business iPhone 5S on which the iTunes account is associated with the Apple ID I signed up for using my business e-mail. I signed in to iCloud with a personal Apple ID account to get some of my personal music onto the device. I have been trying to find out how to change the iCloud account to my business Apple ID. I'd like to be able to switch back and forth if I want. I have read several posts that advise deleting the iCloud account, but I still have personal devices I would like to continue to use with this Apple ID and iCloud account. The extent of the deletion is not addressed.
If I use the delete account under iCloud, does that delete it from the device, or does it delete it permanently? Tried adding my business email to the iCloud account, but it won't let me because it is associated with another Apple ID (duh). Am I stuck here?
    iPhone 5S, iOS 8.1 - just updated.
The only option under iCloud is "Sign Out"

Deleting an iCloud account only deletes it from the Device, not from iCloud.  In iOS 8, the name of this setting changed to "Sign Out" as that is a better reflection of what actually happens.  Your iCloud data remains on the server, available to devices still signed into the account, but the device you sign out of the account on is disconnected from the account, and as a result, the iCloud data from that account is removed from the device.  It will redownload to the device should you sign back into the account.
The only issue you'll run into when you switch between accounts is with my photo stream photos older than 30 days.  When you delete (or sign out of) and account, your photo stream photos are deleted along with the other data from the account in question.  However, unlike other data which remains on the server and can redownload to your device when you sign back in, my photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days.  When you sign back in, you will only get back my photo stream photos added in the last 30 days (as older photos are no longer in iCloud to redownload).  Like other account data, any my photo stream photos on your other devices signed into the account are unaffected by this.  If you want to keep older my photo stream photos on your device as you change iCloud accounts, save them to your camera roll before deleting (signing out of) the account.

  • How do I change an iCloud account on an iPad?

My iPhone and iPad use 2 distinct iCloud accounts, as a by product of the mobile me exit. Now I want to sync these 2 devices, so they need to use the same iCloud account. When I start to change the iPad account, I receive a dire warning that all data in iCloud and the iPad will be lost if I proceed.
Is the warning untrue, or am I misreading it, or am i going about this incorrectly? How should one change the iCloud account on an iPad to another existing iCloud account? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
    vr/rick.36n.121w

It does delete it from you iPad but not from the iCloud account.  If you want to migrate the data to a different iCloud account first go to Settings>iCloud on your iPad and turn all synced data to Off, when prompted choose to keep the data on your iPad.  When everything is turned off you can scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Then set up the other iCloud account on your iPad and turn syncing back on for contacts, calendars, etc. When prompted choose merge to upload the data and merge it with any data on this account.

  • HT4623 How can I change my Icloud account on my ipad to the one I use on my iphone?

How can I change my Icloud account on my ipad to the one I use on my iphone?
For example on my iphone I log in with a yahoo account.  My ipod was originally set up with another e-mail account (which I can't remember the password).  I want to use the yahoo e-mail and the password associated with it to log on to both devices.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • HT3965 how do i change the iCloud account information on my iPhone?

How do i change the iCloud Account information for an iphone.  I set up my wifes iPhone and my phone with the same iCloud Account name name.  Later, i added another phone on my ATT account for my mother, but made an Apple iCloud Account in her name.  Now, to use the find my iphone feature, i need to change her iCloud account user name to be the same as mine.  How do I change that?

You dont need to change the iCloud account to use that feature, when you use find my iPhone all you would need to do is sign into her iCloud account to locate her iPhone.
If you want to change the account used on the iPhone for iCloud then go to settings>icloud and select the option at th bottom that says "delete account" then select "keep on my iphone". After that you then sign in with your iCloud account.
